I couldn’t make a tender roast either. The only way to get it tender is unfortunately to seer it because that’s what seals in the juices

Rachel - I've just discovered your channel, and as a mama of older teenagers, it's so lovely to see your boys and be reminded of that sweet time. Keep putting all the parts of the dinner on the plate and encouraging your boys to try - after all, God created all this food, and it helps us be big soldiers for Jesus (well, that line worked for my kids at that age). I love the roast recipe from Pioneer Woman - it turns out so good every time. I'm also doing a pantry challenge because it's a reminder to be a good steward of our resources, and I have some financial goals I want to accomplish in 2024.

I found your channel through the pantry challenge and I am enjoying it. Thank you. Couple of answers to making a roast tender 1) soak your meat in buttermilk seasoned with whatever seasoning you'd like for about a half hour to 45 minutes. Depending upon your size of roast, it helps to break down the fibers, 2) soak your meat in tepid water with a tablespoon of baking soda for about 30 minutes as well, also helps to break down fiber 3) add a type of vinegar. Your choice to your cooking liquid... All of these choices you should see your meat to keep in the juices and help make it juicy and tender, Hope this helps

Pantry challenges can be dicey but feeding toddlers kicks it up a notch! Good job, Rachel! Roast: brown in IP on high Sauté, add seasoning and water. I always throw in a carrot and onion bc it flavors the broth for tasty gravy. Cook under pressure at least 37 minutes for a 2.5 lb, up to 47 if roast is thick. Most important thing: let pressure drop of its own accord. Bonus to this method: start about an hour after lunch and the keep warm feature will keep everything perfect until you are ready to prep and cook the rest of meal. HTHs.

Hi there! I use the pressure cooker function on my instant pot to make shredded beef roast and also pulled pork. I throw the roast in there, season however you like, add enough bone broth to cover around 3/4 of the roast and use manual high pressure for 2 hours. After the cooking time is done let the instant pot sit for addl 20 min then slide valve to release and open. Fall apart tender every time without fail!! :)

What an honor you have @TheQueensCabinet watching your videos! I was always told that if my roast didn't fall apart then I didn't cook it long enough. I put mine in the crockpot on high and it always falls apart. I'm not sure if it makes a difference in the instant pot. First time watching your channel, yes I did subscribe!

Loved your video, I subscribed and hit like. You and your little ones made me want to go back in time with by cubs. They all grew up on me having cubs of there on now. On the instant pot the slow cook a joke on them. Get you a crock pot don't need be fancy. I like to sear my meat, but you don't have to. Pot n cork with your desire seasoning and splash Worcestershire sauce. You can add sliced onions, carrots, potatoes. broth or water, and bouillon if desired. I put it on high let it cook. Work greats, when my kids where little we ran a bulk store, I baked some of the baked goods we sold, home schooled the crock pot was my best su chief on getting supper done when we closed the store on the evening.

I easy meal to use up roast is to toss back to a crockpot add a can of rotel with green chilis, a can of refried beans and you have burrito filling. Of course you could use canned beans, salsa, jalapeño etc.

Love love love green beans and bacon! I froze my green beans this summer and liked them a lot but I’m excited to try canning them this year! Hopefully I get enough to do that! We love meat potatoes and veggies as well! Your meals looked great! Good job! I am enjoying the challenge this is my second year.

To get your roasts tender add either a cup of wine or a 4th cup of wine vinegar to your pot

I’ve never seared a roast and mine always falls apart! I either slow cook it all day in my crockpot or the oven on really low. Like 250 degrees. Season with seasoned salt and add some water in the pan. Cover with foil if in the oven.

I add a Tbs of Apple cider vinegar in my slow cooker to help tenderize the meat.

Try adding a smidge of vinegar to your water with the roast, you wont be able to taste it, but, it will help break the meat down so it falls apart if that's how you want it.

With your roast. I know this is way past your days of cooking your roast, but I would of thrown the left overs in the insta pot and pressure cooked it for awhile. Just google it. Or, you could can it. That chuck roast will be extra tender then. I usually cook mine on high till it is falling apart, and then put on low and add carrots and then potatoes and cook for a couple of more hours. Hope this works for you. You have a lovely family!

Great job on week 1 😊. My youngest is seven and believe me it does get easier to feed them as long as you keep offering them a variety. For the last couple years I can serve meals buffet style and all three of my kids choose a balanced meal, it’s so freeing.

Cook you roasts at a lower temperature. 350 for 20 minutes , then 325 for until done depending on you size. Test the temp. Depending on what kind of roast pork, beef etc.

I enjoy your videos. You have inspiried me to get a mockmill
I struggled for years to get a delicious fall apart roast just like you, and then I was visiting my friend and she pulled out a delicious fall aart roast out of her oven and I had to know her secret. Ever since, we love cooking roasts, they fall apart everytime.
Put the roast in a dutch oven season with salt pepper onion powder and throw in a shopped onion, fill with water halfway up the roast. cover and cook in oven at 300F for 3-4 hours. :) done!

I found your channel a few weeks ago and am enjoying your content. One suggestion for your roast. I have heard that a little acid helps to break up the muscle (apple cider vinegar or lemon juice) I would look into it first. OR try dry brining or marinating your meat before cooking. Adding brown sugar to your ham steaks is a great idea. Thanks!

I cook my roast from frozen, I stick salted butter & Montreal steak seasoning, 2T vinegar,, cook on low 8 hours. Falls apart every time, season it how you like , the butter & vinegar are the important ones to help break down the roast, in a pinch I've even used 2T dill pickle juice ,,
    God bless
    Happy cooking
I'm new to you and blessed to learn from you ,,

Do you have a video for the bread you made for the french toast? I see a video for a sourdough loaf but not a commercial yeast loaf. Your bread has such a great rise, I'm still trying to get a good rise on my bread, I live in altitude and always have to adjust the yeast but I'm thinking since fresh milled flour is heavier maybe I don't need to reduce the yeast like I normally do. Thanks, I enjoy your videos very much! Take care...Dora

Hi! I'm a new subscriber and love your channel! I love that you are real; real food, real life! It is so refreshing! I don't leave feeling bad about myself after watching, just encouraged. Would you be willing to share your bread recipe? I have never had luck using my instant pot slow cooker function. I know they improved it on newer models, but I haven't had success, they seem to have a lower heat. Have you tried a regular crock pot? My chuck roast falls apart when I cook it in there all day. Thanks!!
