    I love how HiFiMan uses Sanskrit to name their headphones - "Sundara" means beautiful, "Susvara" means sweet-voiced, and "Ananda" means joy or bliss in Sanskrit. So, it looks like these headphones live up to the "Ananda" name.

    I wish you could choose an option when ordering an expensive pair of headphones to not include wire and put in cheap cardboard box and have that option be like 100$ cheaper.

      The Audeze LCD-X are kinda like that, for $500 they give you a balanced cable and a snazzy case. Not exactly worth it IMO, but an idea i wish other companies would do (especially Hifiman)

    Good review as always. I recently picked these up for 599 and they are pretty spectacular for the price. I've been eyeing them since they came out and at this price, I had to pull the trigger. I bought these as a everyday alternative to my Beyer T90's, with my computer and home theater. With the exception of rock, I prefer these. They sound so huge, which is great with movies and video games. I find them to be excellent with strings and classical in general. They have a nice tonal balance but lack a little energy in the upper bass. They don't really stack up against my TH900 Mk2's in my main system, especially in detail and dynamics but they are clearly on another level than the Hifiman 400i's with my computer system.

      @@lisan_al-ghaib I had the Arya for a few days along with the Ananda and HD 800s. I did many A/B tests and ended up keeping the Ananda and returning the other 2 more expensive HP. I eventually picked up the 800s again new on a nice sale because I like their unique sound sig of the large/wide Soundstage. The Arya are good... but you basically get 90% of the Arya's capabilities and sound sig with the Ananda. So to answer your question... No... the Arya are not worth twice the price of the Ananda. Not even close. Like I said before somewhere... I actually prefer the Ananda sound sig more than the Arya's. Hope that helps

      @tonezou3918 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Wait, what do you mean by super-chill? Am I deaf or something? Ananda is a bit bass light, elevated treble - is that chill for you guys? It's far, far away from warm or chill. I had my hands on Ananda in a showroom and it was more aggressive than my 560s even. Isn't "super-chill" something that's below the Harman curve for treble?

    • @niko1even
      @niko1even 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@tonezou3918 Chill doesn’t always have to be more low. Its treble is elevated to the point of having really good detail retreival, but not to the point of “IN YOUR F***ING FACE” detail. That combined with the grand sound that it has craeates this sort of perfect environment where you can just relax with these, whether you’re listening on the couch, watching a movie, or really anything, it just does it all.

    • @ericfallabel9201
      @ericfallabel9201 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @tonezou3918
      @tonezou3918 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericfallabel9201 True, the soundstage was actually not "in your face", it was kinda good, wide and tall, maybe what I heard was the brand new sound without breaking in, but that planar in there is huge and just "strikes" hard into the ears, that for me made it not very chill. Maybe it will loosen up after a week or so, just speculating. Do they break in noticeably?

These changes were made some time in 2018/2019.
      From the latest FR measurements, this eliminates the subbass roll-off and tame the upper mids and air region. Andrew (Resolve's Review) theories that this is caused by the better seal of the angled pads.

      You need a Hifiman if you haven't had a Hifiman and think this way. Revisions mean hardly..just because the headphone was revised doesn't mean the OG wasn't good.
