I understand that Trey and Matt always hated writing for Kenny because the audience can't understand him, it's the same reason why they basically substituted Timmy with Jimmy
What I never understood was... why don't they just put subtitles when he's speaking? The kids clearly understand him, they've already used subtitles a lot when dealing with unintelligible characters or characters who speak a foreign language
They could even ditch the muffled speech, nobody gives a damn wether kenny sounded normal or not

The thing about the "Pajama Time" song is it's not an original South Park song. It was a pre-existing song from a children's singer/songwriter named Laurie Berkner, and I'm guessing they only included it because maybe Trey's daughter listened to it when she was younger. I don't think it makes the inclusion better, since there's no joke, but it's worth pointing out.
And as for how they were able to capture what it was like to raise teens, Trey has a stepson whom he raised as a teen with his now ex-wife. That stepson is named Kobe Ervin. He is now in his 20s and actually voiced all the teens in that episode.

I'm pretty sure the idea behind the "St. Patrick's Day Special" is how illustrate how we idolize and or commercialize things that sometimes should not, and goes back to defending an opinion well past the unacceptable or reasonable constructs to where it's absurd (thus the special super powers). And we as a society love to do it, Columbus day is still a thing as a quick example. I'm surprised there isn't a Robin of the Hood day, thankfully there is still a holy baby day + a day to stuff it back into the box!

“Help, My Teenager Hates Me” was easily the best of the season for me because it felt so different compared to the average, mean-spirited South Park episode. Not only were the jokes consistently funny, but the whole episode had this sweet, good-spirited tone to it, and it was easy to get what it was trying to say, what kind of subject that it was going to talk about.
People will often point to “Big Fix” being the best of the season, but while I thought it was good, I personally feel that it depends a bit too much on the audience needing to have a deep understanding a current topic before getting into the episode, which is a common trap that modern South Park episodes fall into. The best episodes of South Park to me don’t rely on the audience needing to understand so much on the topic explored beforehand.

I don’t think Pip is a funny episode at all, but I personally really like Great Expectations (as well as most of the other Charles Dickens books) and I like Pip as an adaptation, limited by the 20 minute runtime, they made it as accurate as possible, so while it’s nothing like the rest of the series, I do think it’s an entertaining episode of television FOR Dickens fans and for no one else. On my list it would be higher, because of personal preference and concepts that do not interest me (Star Wars and Jakovasaurus) would be on the bottom of my list.

My favourite episode from season 25 is Pajama Day. I loved the plot, and we got to see a bunch of characters wear pajamas that we have never seen wear pajamas in the series. For example the Goth Kids Henrietta and Michael. I don’t think they’ve ever worn pajamas before Pajama Day. And also the Pajama Time song is a cute song. Not to mention it’s a song by children’s music singer, Laurie Berkner. And also the episode gets back to normal life in South Park without the Pandemic

Blooms summed it up perfectly. Just because a piece of source material is good doesn't mean a parody will be. 26:00 - I think a lot of people forget that it's not solely Matt & Trey that write South Park lol. They have an entire writing staff that each bring their own take on things. Some of the other writers are probably having a hard time dealing with their teenagers, and that's how it got in the episode.

    • @supaskiltz9877

  • @Amanda-kd1zr

While I do like Great Expectations and the many movie adaptations of it, I definitely agree that parody does not automatically equal funny. I think SOME people may have just felt the need to point out that it was a parody of a famous novel because you didn't understand why the characters were so horrible, ugly designed, or know "what the joke was." But others were very aggressive about it unnecessarily. For me, personally, the episode is neither an "amazing top 10" or the absolute worst. It's just okay for me. They didn't really comment on the story, they just did the exact story but in South Park fashion. I think it is completely ok that you don't find it funny, but also I don't think every person who enjoyed it is some pseudo-intellectual who thinks something is funny "because reference" or elitist. It's entirely subjective. Though, some of those people are probably very pretentious.
*Edit* Also, I don't know why people thought you would go into full analyses of every single episode. This wasn't a top ten, where one is typically nice to hear for every ep mentioned. I definitely don't get how that video was lazy.

Yeah. I don’t see why people got upset over the Pip placement. As someone who reads epics and classic horror novels all the time- Charles Dickens is incredibly boring to me. Just because it’s supposed to make reference to or copy something- doesn’t make it good. And just because you like it based off something doesn’t make you smart or a genius.
Referencing Shakespeare’s Caesar doesn’t make you smart or funny- you just know literature. And I highly doubt a lot of people spending their time watching a ranked South Park episodes video have ever touched Great Expectations.
The abridged version (for those who are so very inclined to their middle school English class):
The excellence of literature differs to all. Great Expectations doesn’t meet everyones great expectations. Suck some salty nuts.
