I'm not sure when Randy was confirmed to be a Fluvial Geomorphologist, but personally knowing that it goes as far back as season 18's episode "The Cissy" when Nelson was being questioned about his relation to pop-music star, Lorde. Also, I expect the Tegridy Arc to eventually end because in South Park: Post Covid part 2 Randy, even in the good future where the farm wasn't burned down, was wearing his geologist shirt.
I doubt it was actually said, but in Season 1, Episode 2: Volcano, he was the mastermind behind making the trench for the lava to flow in a “river.” That could be seen as the first hint to the kind of science he was proficient in

Although I do get why some people dislike it, I actually do love that the Tegridy Farms arc happened. Imo this commitment to such a multi-year settings change kind of saved the show for me. Looking back at around season 20, it felt a bit like they were getting repetitive and falling into a creative slump that every other show tends to fall into, and it was starting to get less funny. What I love about the introduction of the Tegridy Arc is it completely opened the door to so much potential storylines and character development. Not only did making the show Tegridy-centric offer loads of potential for fresh plot ideas, but it also provided a new lense to tackle their usual social commentary/political satire. They didn't have to just rely on their normal formula to carry the show forward. The formula was completely shaken up, and it actually made me start watching the show more frequently again tbh. A fair share of episodes weren't that good, but a lot were great. Hope they commit to another obscure multi-season character arc now that Randy's has run its course. Like, I wanna see a "Craig Arc" or a "Sheila Karen Arc" or somethin' else weird. Lol
Same, Randy is my favourite character, and he is definitely the best adult in South Park, I think Tegridy is nice as it gives a story arc to Randy (like all the children characters get even though it kinda changes or exaggerates their characters), but I kinda hated the Karen March section, but now seeing that it was the end of Tegridy and the culmination of Randy's arc of being a greedy, money hungry bastard, it's actually pretty funny

One of my favorite parts of the special was Butter’s getting grounded for being part of the streaming wars lol Butter’s getting grounded has always been one of my fav running gags for n the series and I love that we got to temporarily see old Randy!

I love SouthPark and already purchased HBO+ just to have access, but with these streaming wars, I simply refuse to get another streaming service. I’m having enough problems affording to drive to work. I literally can’t get another streaming service. Which is why I appreciate these breakdowns so much. In all honesty, I love Randy, Towlie and Tegridy farms. I really hope that they keep it going in the show.

I like the geologist stuff and the pot farm stuff. I kind of don't see why they couldn't have him be both a pot farmer and a geologist at the same time. The pot growing could be more of a side thing. A new friend or family member, like Uncle Jimbo, or someone similar could come in to help him with the day to day running of the farm while he's busy with his geology job.

Changing Randy from a kinda smart dad who cared, into another jerkass homer/Peter Griffin knock-off just made me lose interest, because while seeing the four boys grow was endearing, seeing Randy become an asshole his family hates is just annoying and felt cheap.

I can't see how anyone interprets this as Randy "changing back". It's pretty obvious that the message is that they will NEVER change him back and that this is permanent.
Part of me wonders if he will be a bit of a merge of the two, perhaps. Even after smoking the weed he finished his job and found a solution to the draught problem. He might still be a weed-lover, but some of his roots might be brought back to the surface? We’ll see, but I’ve never been one of those people who disliked Tegridy Randy anyway, so I will be fine either way.
I think it's more fun him being a farmer. I'm not going to begrudge anyone that's tired of it because it's all subjective. But it's interesting that things are changing, stan in a farm, Cartman in a hot dog, Kenny dealing with gentrification and then the collapse of gentrification.... Even their voices are starting to get lower. I'm all for this experimental era of South Park. It'll probably never beat the peak of South Park season 5 through 14. But it keeps things fresh for Trey and Matt and it's why they want to keep doing it.

Randy hasn't had a character arc. He switches personalities from episode to episode with no reasoning at all. Sometimes from scene to scene. The only change is that a long time ago, being a boring annoying narcissistic idiot became his most common state got literally no reason.
But I feel like it brought along so many good things with it. I mean Randy’s job is a geologist rarely ever got brought up where when he’s with tegrity, the story with him could either be about the farm or it could be about something else going on in the town it never felt like tegrity farms was holding back the story I think maybe they pushed it a little much at first but I feel that was just to cement in our minds that they would be here for awhile but all and all I think it was a fun part of the show and it gave towlie a little more relevance that he hasn’t had in awhile before that story line… in summary: don’t forget to bring a towel

I think they might use him as a dual character like if Karen is needed then he gets high af, if geological issues are about Randy sobers up and takes the issue on. Other than that have him be ridiculous on the side or something lol.

Tegridy is not ending randy has had too much development he is now one of the most popular characters only behind by cartman and trey and matt love writing randy stories as its easier for them to keep writing stories with characters they can relate too And I thought PC principle was jumping the shark but then president garrsion soon happened after then Heidi hogging the spotlight and finally Tegridy literally abandoning the main 4 characters for weed jokes. Yes It sucks and I hate the fact that characters like kenny butters kyle and stan are taking a secondary role when those characters are classic south park but times change people get older and change kinda like how the landside is bringing the older fans down.
I've been a fan for forever and I love the new arc as well. cartmans always been my favorite, and randy is quickly going up my list. I do miss the original characters and would love more of them, but randy is still funny.
I feel Manbearpig's family was a paramount addition to soften the seriousness of climate change. By making him a victim, and a family man, you sort of "sympathize" with climate change, if even on a symbolic level.

Tegridy transformed South Park into yet another adult animated series focusing on the antics of a wacky dad. How many of those fucking things do we have already? Personally, I voted with my eyeballs. I've seen the first tegridy episode, the christmas special, and Band in China. I don't give enough of a shit to watch any of the other ones.

I wasn't a huge tegridy farms fan but it makes sense that Matt and Trey are having more fun righting him now than before. They've outright said a few times that they now relate to that age demographic much more than they did when they started. Randy hasn't had a character arc. He switches personalities from episode to episode with no reasoning at all. Sometimes from scene to scene. The only change is that a long time ago, being a boring annoying narcissistic idiot became his most common state got literally no reason.

But I feel like it brought along so many good things with it. I mean Randy’s job is a geologist rarely ever got brought up where when he’s with tegrity, the story with him could either be about the farm or it could be about something else going on in the town it never felt like tegrity farms was holding back the story I think maybe they pushed it a little much at first but I feel that was just to cement in our minds that they would be here for awhile but all and all I think it was a fun part of the show and it gave towlie a little more relevance that he hasn’t had in awhile before that story line… in summary: don’t forget to bring a towel

I agree with you, there should have been more explanation from the manbearpig family, it was pleasant but where the hell do they come from?? The special was overall just hilarious i think, and the part with Randy was more a of new goodbye done a bit better to the old Randy, i personally dont think Randy’s leaving the farm

Great analysis and well edited video, but you forgot to mention the obvious Doctor Strange reference when randy smoke the weed to transform into Karen. I myself saw this as one of the most hilarious parts of this episode, so i was surprised that it wasn't mentioned.

I thought PiPi was an allegory to Disney+ to be honest. Aside from running a brutally competitive amusement park, and being the streaming service with the most backing capital, the boys (representing Parker and Stone) never worked for him.

Tegridy is not ending randy has had too much development he is now one of the most popular characters only behind by cartman and trey and matt love writing randy stories as its easier for them to keep writing stories with characters they can relate too
And I thought PC principle was jumping the shark but then president garrsion soon happened after then Heidi hogging the spotlight and finally Tegridy literally abandoning the main 4 characters for weed jokes.
Yes It sucks and I hate the fact that characters like kenny butters kyle and stan are taking a secondary role when those characters are classic south park but times change people get older and change kinda like how the landside is bringing the older fans down.
I've been a fan for forever and I love the new arc as well. cartmans always been my favorite, and randy is quickly going up my list. I do miss the original characters and would love more of them, but randy is still funny.

The Tegridy thing never shocked me, I think that it was pretty consistant with his character, especially in the episode "Medicine Fried Chicken".

I wasn't a huge tegridy farms fan but it makes sense that Matt and Trey are having more fun righting him now than before. They've outright said a few times that they now relate to that age demographic much more than they did when they started. It was childhood wish fulfillment and reenactment at first but now its kind of a seinfeld-esque "wouldn't it be crazy if a grown man did xyz thing" show

I dont think Paramount cares if they are in the middle of the jokes of South Park even after paying them 900 Million. Matt Stone and Trey Parker has made Money for Paramount since 1997.
