Great review Anthony! I really love the way this looks both inside and out and that has great power as well. Question, what exactly is rev matching? I've heard that term before but I don't have a clue what it means. Great cool breezy weather here. Hope that you are doing great!
Rev match helps with changing gears smoothly. It aims to match the speed of the engine with the transmission helping with downshifting.
It’s back to Florida here looking for shade 🤣 but everyday outside gets easier as long as I stay hydrated. Thanks James
@@HawkeyeRides Oh wow thanks for that! It's been a while since I drove a manual but I would be fine doing so. I don't even use the paddle shifters in my ride lol! For sure hydration is so important. I guzzle water all day.. Have a good one Anthony
I'm an audio guy. you mention that the sound of exhaust comes through the speakers? Can that be shut off? I do not want to hear the exhaust sound or anything through the speakers, other than audio. thanks. BTW I have 2 Mini coops 05 & 06 . i'm a vw guy all the way...and thinking of scooping up one of these last year's manual trans. not sure I am thrilled with color selection of R's so probs would get the Autobahn. thoughts?? thanks, Keith
You can cut the sound off and I agree color selection not only here but all vehicles seems to be 3-4 colors which are all standard looking.
If you go R they have a nice blue color but that’s really it out of the 3 color choices. The GTI is awesome and I think you have 5-6 total colors which they have a blue color too but it’s a little more dark. The R will hold its value a little better in the long run and it’s the only way to get that awd so if you can score one for a decent deal I would go R but if color is the bigger deal then the GTI is the way to go. Then you can stage one it which I have some friends that did it and it performance even better.
Last month I bought a 2018 gti Autobahn. It's wild to see how much has stayed the same and what's changed over the years!

I am looking at the GTI S I prefer manual but not opposed to the DSG, I do not like the nub shifter though.
They are awesome vehicle, is you haven't went for a test drive you should.
Why did Europe get that much more hp and we don't?
The U.S. has stricter emissions regulations compared to Europe, which can impact engine tuning and power output. To meet these regulations, manufacturers may need to adjust the engine control software, which can reduce horsepower.

Waste of time without manual. Manual makes a GTI a GTI. It's like buying the shitty zero Heineken over a regular Heineken. Pointless!!
