Another hidden feature, in about 20,000 miles the "Travel Assist is Currently Unavailable" warning will randomly pop up and ding, over and over again, until VW replaces the steering wheel with a new wheel, but the best part is, the new wheel comes with the same design flaw, so it will come back again in another 20,000. Fun feature!
2024 GolfR DSG - Good video - Great Tips - setting Favorites (excellent reminder) overhead light gesture, heated seat actuation and holding View button to open up full screen nav are all new to me..thanks
Another hidden feature - when you swipe to open the sunroof, once it stops you can swipe again to open it a few more inches. I find I get a bit more noise when it’s all the way open but for urban driving it’s great.
Setting the favorites was my favorite tip, I’ve owned the car less than twenty four hours and won’t have any time to learn much about the car till I have some down time, thanks!
Thanks for this you’re a natural! I’m picking up a new GTI mk8 next week. It will be the 6th VW I’ve owned for over 30 years. All were GTIs except my 1st VW Jetta VR6. 🙌🙏
Great Video. As an extra secret feature, if you leave your windows down in error and want to close them. Have the key fob close, and press the palm of your hand against the drivers or passenger door handle. Hold it for a few seconds and all window will close :)
Hey very nice video with tips. Let me try and see if you can help ... How do I get my Android Auto going automatically dark when then headlights are one? This used to work on my old 2019 Jetta and seems not to be working on my brand new GTI! Kudos again to the video
Unlock on approach seems to break unlocking the passenger doors from the driver's door when the system is set to only unlock the driver's door. Without it on, you can tap the inside of the driver's door handle once to unlock the driver's door, and a second time to unlock the other doors. With it on, tapping the driver's door handle a second time doesn't unlock the passenger's doors. Only way to do that (from the driver's door) is to either hit the button on the fob, or open the door and hit the unlock button. I turned unlock on approach off for this reason.
Good tips! Just bought a 2022 Golf R and I love it! My old GTI had the same feature, with opening the windows with the key fob. The new golf R does the same, but it doesn't open the moon roof. Just wondering if that has to be pre set.
I got my Golf R 20Y in Japan last year. All aspects of the mechanical parts of the car are extremely good, ride, power and handling is fantastic. But I am extremely frustrated with the touch screen & switches. There is no reassuring feedback like mechanical switches, and they don’t work correctly sometimes due to static or when wearing gloves. There is no way of touching the right switch on 1st try when the road is bumpy. Any switches that I can reach and set within 2 secs on an analog car now takes 10 secs or more, and with substantial distraction in my driving concentration. This is a case of an excellent all round high performance driving machine with the worse driver to car interface ever !
Unfortunately, my 2024 VW Golf GTI 380 SE 6-speed in the new King's Red Metaliic color does not have the Light Assist for Auto High Beams 😢. However, my 2021 Audi Q5 does have that cool feature 😊!
Thanks for the tips, I have only had the car 2 weeks so still learning. I like the tip about opening the driver's door.

HAHAHA crap thanks for that good to know 😅😭
Seems like it was a pretty common issue in the 22 model and some 23 pretty sure they have it fixed now
Mine went out too at 20,000
@thomasfoley2771 what year and trim?
It's a 2022 S model.
The way you explain is very clear and informative.Keep it up bruh
Thanks, man 🙏🏻

Great video. We knew about most of these, but didn't know about the double-tap for heated seats. Perfect timing to learn about it 😉
My favorite is the windows opening for a hot day and the unlock while approaching! Very helpful video, as I just bought a 2024 Kings Red! :)
Glad I could help!
Is there a way to close the windows with the FOB??

Thanks for your sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Gotta love the heated seat shortcut and the dome wave. Folks think you're swatting flies arouind in that thing! Great tips and easter eggs!
Cool tip about removing the squares on the map view on the dash. I knew most of these, but I learned a few more. Thanks!
Did not know about holding the view button while on the map display!
Just got my 2024 GTI, and I LOVE it!!
Thank you for the tips!

What about "Hey volkswagen", for voice control function.
Beware!! It’s listening to you!!
Just picked up my new Golf GTI, so any information is good information👍

Right reverse mirror goes down during reversing - if you have it enabled in the menu AND mirror's steering button is on "R", as well in MK#7

You will need OBDeleven in order to do that. I highly recommend getting OBDeleven, you can unlock a lot of cool features with it.
Much appreciated content for a new owner of a leftover 2023 Premium Arteon.
Hi, if I dont buy the built in navigation, can I still get the android auto's navigation app to appear in the display behind the steering wheel?
Unfortunately, no.
Thanks for the info 💯
awesome video thanks
Super cool info thanks!
Great vid. Love my 23 S. Keep it coming!
Auto folding mirrors? Does my 23 Golf R 20 AE have these?
No, standard on 2024. However, you can add it yourself.

Awesome, awesome video!!
Appreciate the tips!!!
Sick video. Just ordered one.
Thanks, Luke!
Can use permanently disable Start and Stop?
I have a question. I have a VW 2022 GTI. It's possible. That this car can be removed or. To turn off the code DRL
Mine does not have auto dimming headlights
Does the approach unlock work on the S and SE or just the autobahn?
SE has it
The windows up or down with the unlock/lock button has been a feature of Volkswagen since the mid 1990’s.
Sweet!
I think you should specify that these hidden features are in the SE and above models…
Is there a way to have the light bar off? I dont want on with the low bean lights. Dont like the looks of it 🥹

Are they "secret" or "secret if you don't read the manual"?
i have the poverty version.. it doesn't have any of these features =))
Too much tech. I much prefer the MK5/6 GTI generation.
