'15 HELLCAT VS '08 SRT8 CHALLENGER! 707HP VS 425HP! BYRON!

Check out the battle between the new technology of the supercharged 707HP 6.2 Hemi powered '15 Hellcat Challenger against the older technology of '08 425HP 6.1 Hemi powered SRT8 Challenger. The 6.1 is not to be discredited. It was a monster back in the day and is still to this day. It is great that Dodge is offering a more powerful drivetrain for a whole lot more money. The truth is... money can buy you faster cars. This has always been the case. But there is no best bang for your buck than an SRT8 from earlier production. I mean this thing is a 400+ HP monster than would smoke your Dads old 440 6pack Challenger from 1970. And have all the comforts and more agile driving than that. I love old muscle cars, but the newest Mopars have me questioning why I would spend so much for a classic when I can get so much more and still be able to finance it even today.

I think he's bs'ing - 4200lbs and 360-370 WHP ,12.60's? No doubt he can wheel - but that car is not 100% stock. The 6.1L cars were also known for extreme heat soak issues, they would make 1 good pass and the slow down each after (they fixed that with the 392 and Cats) I am thinking its got a shot on it.

I'm curious: Is it possible to make 6.1 into Hellcat? Would it be possible to bore the 6.1 to have the same displacement and use the same forged internals as Hellcat and then add the Supercharger? They have the same stroke, but not sure if block architecture would allow it.

2008 Challengers (as shown in this vid) were all Automatics and all were SRTs. There was only like 6400 made.

You can get a 300 SRT8 for around 10 grand. I got mine for 8500.. I take that any day in lieu of the hellcat... (Just being honest though, it's only cuz I don't have the money). Lol
