    According to Dodge, Challenger sales have been slowly INCREASING since its debut in 2008! That's unusual in the auto industry. Sales usually DECREASE over the years. This is why Dodge keeps putting-off the discontinuation of the Challenger. It's also why they haven't changed the body styling that much. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

    I test drove both the SRT and the Camaro SS before going with the SS. I love the new Challys look but it felt like a tank when I drove it and it didn't feel as if it had the HP the Camaro does even though only 1HP separates them. I attribute that to the excessive weight it was carrying around. The Camaro is a heavy car too, but is roughly 600lbs lighter than the SRT and believe me, that made a hell of a difference. I'm not knocking on the SRT because I would love to own both. Competition is good

    @stlchucko 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @monstersupra808 No. I'm saying that if you run the same 3 stock cars repeatedly, the outcome of their individual times will change very little. They didn't sandbag the v6 or give the SRT8 head start. This was just to show the difference in a side by side race video rather than just post times to compare. The best model won. If you don't like how they did it, get some Challengers together and make your own video to prove this one wrong.

But ABS still plays a role in holding the car even if the traction is off. The only way you can completely disable traction is by pulling out fuse number 14 from the fuse box next to the engine. To set the record straight for you all, yes the Mustang prototype was out at Watkins Glen in 1962, but it was nothing like the Mustang we know now. Carroll Shelby was the one who called it a secretaries car, but made it his biggest hit as a true sports car, and Lee Iacocca was not hired by the gov. Lee had always loved Ford and got his start in a dealership making pennies on the dollar. Lee actually designed the car without Henry Ford II knowing about it until the project was almost finished.

    Yea, on the challenger i really don't expect it to last more than 2-3 years. Now, i don't know what chrysler considers good, but I definitely know they are way behind the mustang and camaro in sales. I've seen sales for the challenger as low as 700 and rises to about high thousands. In any case the sales aren't looking good for the car.

    @911royal911 Motortrend makes agreements with certain car manufacturers which lead to bias tests. That is why they declared the best mid-size sedan the Toyota Corolla. They also declared the Hyundai Genesis to be a better car than the Mustang V6, even though the Mustang beat the Genesis in every performance test.

    I enjoyed this video several times. Now all motortrend needs to do is a 3 way contest between the '11 Mustang , 5.0 liter GT & GT500 !!! Better yet, let's have a 4 way contest include the Boss 302 !!! Sounds like a winner too me !!!

    Out of the 3 models: SXT, R/T and SRT which car will have the softest ride and most comfortable ride on real roads being in a bad state of repair? Does the SXT really get that much better gas mileage than the other two because it's still a big heavy car.

  • @Amras0407
    @Amras0407 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Variable cam timing and higher compression don't mean anything if it still makes less power...and even if the SRT weighed MORE than the R/T, it isn't a gap that 50 hp won't compensate for.

    @puffrooster I had a new driver cross into my lane & we hit headon. My GP GXP kept me safe but it was destroyed. Now I drive a new Challenger SRT8 that has a 5 star crash rating, my quickest stock 1/4 miles is 12.8@107.5 and I get 26mpg on the hwy. For me a car is more than just a way to get from one place to another. It's not an ego thing but more of an enjoyment thing.

    @EnEsFive the Z28 has the Vette ZR1 6.2L Supercharged 638 BHP Motor and with the SS stick cost about 40k I doubt it will be cheaper than a Shelby at 50k but then again its an SS with a supercharger from what I know. But the 2011 GT will be great making 400 WHP Stock for the mid 30k range will be a steal. A Supercharger bolt ons PCM tires etc could easily be 700+ BHP

    Buddy I love the new camaro and I have every intention of buying it, but I don't know where you got your facts from. V6 challenger: 250HP, R/T 370HP, SRT8 425HP. Personally I think the challenger looks better, but the complete overhaul of the Camaro giving it touches of classic and touches of modern and an extremely well done interior, well i think you get it.

    The Corvette is practically the best muscle car built today, only rivaled by the Viper. More power and lighter weight makes the Vetter faster and much more nimble than the Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro. So many people want a Challenger because the retro styling and "HEMI". Personally, I've always been a Mustang fan but off the factory line, the Challenger is an impressive car. It's easy to say "supercharge this", or "turbo that". But realistically, people just stick with what they buy.

    @puffrooster The SRT8's comes with EVIC that records performance. My EVIC reads .1sec slower that the track for 1/8 & 1/4. Who knows how close the 0-60 is but the slowest non wheelspin run I've done is 4.4 sec stock. With the tune it's consistant 4.1s. No way it's 6.0 unless it's a crappy mag driver.
    With only a tune I run consistant 12.6s in the 1/4. Not too bad for a heavy brick.

  • @grenade350

    True. But categorized by price (very important), the Challenger SRT10 will be out of the Z/28's class. It'll be: the Sixes, R/T vs. SS, SRT8 vs. Z/28, and SRT10 vs. I dunno, a GT500. You can't ignore price range, or it doesn't matter what's faster stock.
    Plus, a Challenger SRT10 would only have 44 hp on the Camaro Z/28 (at current 8.4L output), while weighing hundreds of pounds more... I'm not so sure the SRT10 would win
