- So lately there has been talk about what is the difference between version 1, 2, and 3 of the generic army builder JoyToy Space Marine Intercessors. So in this video we are going to put those questions to rest as we are going to compare all "3" versions side by side with each other. Only then are we going to determine if there is really and truly a version 3.

I was trying to figure out why my Victrix Guard (V1) looked so puny compared to my V2 figures and realized it’s because the V1 chest piece has a smaller circumference. You don’t notice it until you put them side by side, but your brain definitely picks up on it subconsciously. The V2 and V3 figures look bulkier, stronger, and more “heroic” due to the bigger chest pieces. It’s one of the more subtle changes, yet makes a huge difference in our perception.
Nice comparison, must be the only one on ytb. V.1 for sure is better on paint quality, and i agree they look more of a collectible item than a regular toy. The 4 set of the UM primaris intercessors is dope and a good example on this.

out of the 3, i still prefer the 1.0 hands. they are just easier to play with although they get a bit loose over time. 2.0 hands are like baby hands. can't even hold stuff properly though the variant poses are great. the 3.0 fist only alternative are a bit of a downer considering the better poses 2.0 hands offer.
v1 is good only need to make more details and change material (harder plastic)
v2 size is good need to overhaul gun and sword holding hands
v3 is big hands (very long pointing finger small ring and little finger)

Version 2+ is a fix to the hand plastic. Bravo JoyToy. The softer hand plastic is appreciated.

everything is right. This is still far from version 3.0. But the honorary guard of Ultramarines, and new heroes (Shrike, Mephiston, Adrax) can already be called version 3.0 with tension, since there are new knee joints, large hands, and a more mobile torso.
Hmmm I might have to try to take apart one of the special characters that you mentioned and see the internals
Still a fan of V1 bodies. The paintjob, balljoints for shoulderpads, soft hands and the overall proportions. Also, new plastic kinda sucks.

Just got mine , it's a 2.0 Ultramarine Intercessors
It seems to me that Space Marines are receiving an increased "cheap finishing": other lines like the sisters of battle (black), scions, and the upcoming admechs seem instead to keep a high quality in their finishing. Even Guilliman, that has very high finishing, lacks the kind of browning for his gold parts.
New Ultrmaine Gravis Captain is going to get highlights back, but it seems to be an exception in this trend.
Note sure why (different factories involved, testing the market, precise design decisions, just lower the cost, ...) but I personally like the version 1.0 finishing more, with all those highlights and dark shading.
The intercessors have the cheap paint due to demand for a cheap army builder figure. So they simplified the 4 army builder figs. The rest of the releases should have better paint.
The V1's are so much better than the rest. I really miss them. As I look back to the inceptors as well as the Death Company, there is a marked difference between them and the V3 that we have now
I have all three of the Ultramarine variants. Ver 3.0 is definitely more of a 1.5 in terms of design corrections. Ver 2 aggravates me for two reasons: the left forearm guard impairs the elbow bend. and the hands are just awful.
Oh yeah, I cannot stand the V2 hands. They are such garbage. The only gripe that I have about the V1 is that the legs/ ankle areas are a bit unstable compared to the rest
ver 3 has that cheap plastic look to it due to almost no painting, which probably is self explanatory why they are so cheap! you can have some fun repainting or just buy other versions.
and yes ver 3 had best big hand that can now grab anything with ease.
Haha yeah, the V3 especially the Salamanders and the Iron Hands need a lot of repainting to make them stand out
Hi. Yes. The only advantage of "Version 3.0" is the bigger hands. The biggest flaw of the previous two is the hand! I really don't like the fact that I can't properly put the sword and rifle in his hand...
joytoy should really make the neck guard and chest plate removable (changeable aquilla)
sad they use the blood aquilla that the veterans or elite use
planning to buy 6 to make a squad
now i think v3 groin piece with wide removable belts incoming so i will wait (hope they widen the torso also)

Thankfully, these generic army builders don't cost that much so you'll have your squad soon enough. Just out of sheer curiosity, did your V3 break because you were articulating it or you were taking it apart

my blood angel was taller by 1.5 mm so remove the torso and it break lucky it was the problem so i drill and attact the ball joint

V1 stuffs look like collectibles, what we have now look like cheap mass produced toys.
The paint of the V1 is far more superior than the V3 that we have now. Although I would say that some of the V3 do shine through the cheapness such as the Salamanders and Dark Angels Bladeguard

Yes, I agree. I am glad that JT have been gradually improving their action figures over time.
