    Awesome video. Very informative. Definitely can see that 1.0 with the smaller part dimensions and even the visible damage to the torso that the 1.0 seems to be more susceptible to breakage. 2.0 seems to adress most of the issues. Again, thank you for sacrificing your marines for science! Belisarius Cawl called looking for a report! Lol...

    Yeah most other joints will pop off readily (elbows, knees, bicep, thigh, hip, knees, ankles) but those shoulder blocks are nigh impossible to remove. Add the new pauldron loops to that list, I guess.
    2.0 uses a lot of hard plastic sockets (on the torso and ankles) instead of just using barbell ball joints on the softer body plastics.
    Good vid!

    • @matthewyoho5422

      You can just pop the entire arm out of the shoulder joint, and then slip the loop off the end of the now exposed peg, if you want to detach the pauldrons (other reviewers have done that a bunch both accidentally/intentionally when testing the limits of the articulation).

    Great video thx for sharing!
    After watching a few of your videos I thought I gave you feedback regarding one of your clip style tools. I don't know if you're familiar with Joe Scott's videos, but he also uses a side camera which he calls his tangent cam. I think you could make your clips even more dynamic by also realigning with the side cam for example to bring across a point or in case you'd go on a tangent or rant etc.

    Yeah was something that caught my eye was also telling my mom about the ankle joint on the aggressor figure I'm working on I told her if this figure haves a hard fall it's going to break from the weight it's so small so the bigger joint they added is nicer and for stable but in the video you forgot to check the bulk of the legs

    Yes, I waited for this one. I guess 2.0 bodies is more durable, nice. And in terms of propotions, 2.0 is a way better, the pauldrons and the chest for example.
    And yes, you can pop out the shoulder joint of a 1.0 figure, and it's kinda crappy, too small and brittle. The piece that you saw when you tried it - it's not the point of rotation, it's the pin inside of it! And I hate this, honestly.
    This is good.
    Thanks for this detailed review, very helpful. And fun too!

      I agree with you in that the 2.0 figs seem to be more...solid and better constructed. The only thing I don't like about them is how the pauldron is attached but overall, I like them.
      As I have said to other people on this channel, this was actually one of my most favorite videos to make. While I do love critiquing crappy paint jobs, I love getting into the guts of things and finding out how things work and this was the perfect video for that.

    If you want to pop the arm out of the socket on the 2.0 body to remove the pauldron, then lifting the arm up away from the body will do the trick very easily, once you get to the limits of the articulation (and then you can slide the loop of the pauldron off the end of the peg). The arm pops back into the shoulder socket just as easily.

      @@SpruesNStuds You hit all the other pertinent bits, or at least demonstrated the differences visually on camera as you were dissecting your specimens, if you didn't comment on it specifically (such as the butterfly joints in the 2.0 shoulders).
      The reason you feel like the 2.0 has a better range of motion in the wrists, by the way (a thing you feel because it totally does), is because of the minor and hard to spot at a glance difference you overlooked between them: the joint itself hasn't been dramatically overhauled like with the feet, it's just the same type of barbell on both bodies, but that barbell protrudes slightly further away from the base of the wrist on the 2.0, so the hand sits less flush against the arm and thus can move further in all the directions available to it (the tradeoff for that increased motion being that the hands no longer sit as flush with the arm, ie, sometimes you can see the gap).

    awesome comparison vid. i had fun watching this. question, does the new ankle joint feel any different? maybe it's better for stability? my 1.0 figs have tipped over by themselves several times already. i have yet to receive a 2.0 fig so idk yet if it made a difference. i was honestly surprised that the pauldron was bigger for the 2.0. i honestly didn't notice that.
    if you could influence changes to these figs, what would you change? i hope they can change the knee joints. they look off imo. i hope they put more meat into that joint to make it look a full leg and not segmented. having kneeling poses with this joint sometimes makes them appear like they have amputated legs.

    • @SpruesNStuds
      @SpruesNStuds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yooo! Thanks for watching the vid and commenting. I love how this channel is starting to have an active community and that community starts with you so many thanks!
      In terms of stability, I really did not notice whether 1.0 was easier/ harder to pose than the 2.0 version. However, looking at the connections of the 1.0 vs 2.0, I would think that the 2.0 would be more stable.
      In all honesty, what aggravates me the most is actually the stability of the action figs. They take me a while to pose correctly (I'm not having them do any wild poses) and they still tip over quite easily. For example for my favorite figures, the blade guard vets, they tip over all the damn time because of the Storm shield. I wish that JT can balance them better.

    • @vaynelevant
      @vaynelevant 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpruesNStuds i was afraid of my bladeguard figs tipping over because they can fall on my shelf and possibly break the halo tips and that would suck. fortunately, they have been stable enough and none have fallen yet. maybe that's just because i have them just holding the shield close to their body. the fig that tipped for me the most are the aggressors. they are so top heavy.

    • @matthewyoho5422
      @matthewyoho5422 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SpruesNStuds It's a *night and day* difference between 1.0 and 2.0, in terms of ankle stability: particular older figures had stiffer ankle joints than others, but none of them were especially good at holding positions that relied on the ankles maintaining a specific position relative to the leg. The Bladeguard were some of the worst offenders, in the standard-size marine releases, a thing not helped by their storm shield (the worst of the lot were the larger figures like aggressors or chaos terminators, the only way I could get some of them to ever balance was to "trap" their feet with the other parts of the leg armor, so the weight of the figure couldn't shift them over time).
      The new ankle joint makes balancing marines and getting them to stay that way the work of seconds, of the seven 2.0 body figures in my collection so far I've yet to have so much as one of them tip over.

    • @SpruesNStuds
      @SpruesNStuds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@vaynelevant Yeah they are super top heavy and as stated before, the ankle joint on the 1.0 marines are terrible.

      So "in general" you need to see the boxes in order to tell. The old boxes have a complete black background which would indicate the contents to be V1. In V2, the boxes in the front have a white border around the left hand side and then have a small black stripe running down the right side with a Warhammer logo on the bottom right hand side

    • @matthewyoho5422
      @matthewyoho5422 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's just how they were painting this particular figure, for whatever reason, and I wouldn't say that it's necessarily indicative of how they mean to paint all Blood Angels going forwards: if you go back and look at the review of Lieutenant Tolmeron, he's also built on the 2.0 body, but painted more like that 1.0 release, in terms of the shading.

    • @SpruesNStuds

      Kind of? For the 2.0 figures, the box will have a white border around it and it will show the faction of the Space Marine/ Ork/ etc with a banner on the left hand side of the picture of the action figure. Conversely, the 1.0 boxes have a black border around them.

    • @matthewyoho5422

      The two figures being compared in this video come in different boxes, yes: the 1.0 body figure was originally in a box labeled "Blood Angels Intercessors" with art of him holding the bolt rifle also included, while the 2.0 body figure is in a box with that same label, but the art is the marine holding the heavy bolt pistol and chainsword.
      Both those figures used the older box art style (base black with the figure art in the center), by the way, the newer releases have all been arriving in boxes that look like the one the Company Champion was in (except with art/labels of them instead).
