Haha but he didn’t, he agreed to 23k and pulled up with only 20k, It’s the sellers fault for agreeing but it was pretty bad to show up without what you agreed to
showing up without all the money was actually pretty cold-blooded. he should have let the guy know before he came down that he would be short the three grand. because at that point he's actually just wasting everybody's time
@@duanejackson6718 Have another listen. The extra 3 grand was just a phone call away and the car needed to be shipped anyways. There was plenty of time to get the last bit of the money to the seller if needed.
Why don't you ever upload any bonus content on your personal channel anymore Ed? You still get paid for it even if there aren't as many views as the VINwiki channel. There must be something dumb you've done that's been captured on video that you could edit the worst bits out of and upload 😆Even just little updates on your personal fleet that are a bit off topic for the main channel. You getting too rich to want the money? 😋
thats just a straight up good dude. had someone in the wings waiting to pay 28 but he honored his agreement and even accepted some further negotiation. most people these days wouldnt be that stand up. hell i went to buy a miata once, drove two hours to meet the guy in the agreed upon parking lot, was ready to pay the asking price, and he just never showed up. called hours later and said someone else bought the car first. like DAMN bro.
Great story, as a younger man I rang a newspaper ad that had run for a few weeks & told the seller that I'd like to see the car, but couldn't afford the price he was asking, I went to meet the owner & we talked for over an hour, he finally asked me what can you pay, the guy knocked about a fifth off the car, when I was about to leave he pulls out a beautiful wood sports steering wheel & hands that over as well, 25yrs later I still have that little car, Rj in Oz
Love this story and the story teller! Completely relate to your love for the 308 GTB. On a spring break in 1984, I went out of my way to find the Auto Toy Store, so I could see one in person. I'm not handy enough to actually own a Ferrari - so I've become a Porsche diehard, but the 308 GTB is one of the absolute most perfectly styled automobiles ever. Enjoy driving your work of art, and I'll live vicariously through you, at least on this one!
Great story-and glad to hear you still have the car; it's gorgeous and all yours! How great of that guy to help you out and that you're still in touch.
Ed, love the Chanel. I am sure you know your audience. Folks, living in a single wide trailer (mobile home), with a 90’s corvette or IROC in the front yard!! Giant satellite dish on the roof of the metal shed. And we love you. Keep the dream alive.
My dream car has been a real steel '39-'41 Willys coupe.. A few months ago, I was actually able to get my dream car, a steel '40 Willys coupe. Still can't believe it..
It is a common misconception that you are not allowed to cross a border with more than $10k. You can have as much cash as you wish, but you have to declare amounts in excess of $10k, and be prepared to prove where it came from, and where it is going.
You can travel with more than $10k in cash. You just have to declare it. There are no fees attached, or anything like that. You just have to tell 'em that you have more than that - and why you have more than that. It's perfectly fine. It's perfectly legal. It's illegal if you don't tell them about it and fill out the little form.
Another awesome car story along the lines of the guy that dealt with the entitled Taycan (sic) buyer ! I love these personal type of stories rather than the strictly mechanical aspects of a car !
Wow, dreamcar achieved. Congratz, never knew it was possible. Now days it seems even more impossible but who knows what doors the heavens will open for those who seek.

If your looking for a great selection of classic cars come to Rutherford County NC. We hold a car show every August called "hot nights cool rides". Trying to bring the car community back to NC.
They are such horrible cars if you look at performance compared to the other Ferrari's that came a few years later....but the car does have a particular look and still to this day, is a sought after car in good condition because it doesn't demand the premium other Ferrari's did at the time.
Put this guy on screen with the UAW leadership and they'll make him look foolish. Yes, they're will be more hardship involved over the short term. But the working class has been enduring hardships while being royally screwed for 50 years. It's way past the time for the corporate overlords to pay up.
So this older bloke let you pay him almost a third less than he could have gotten for the car, and also took you and ya brother out to dinner afterwards. If this story is true i'm not sure i'd be telling people about it.

Taking the roof off of a car almost always ruins the lines.

I wish I could get a Ferrari at that price
For those of us born in the 80’s the 308 GTB is truly the quintessential Ferrari, even more so than the testarossa in my opinion
You are surely allowed to travel with more than $10,000, you just need to be prepared to show where you got it from, bank withdrawals, etc.
Great video
He seems so nice, but upstaging your buddy and being oblivious rhat they guy had a "competing" bid on the phone. That guy was not your buddy.
