It's true. Wasn't a armchair, but a big oak tree and a empty case of leinenkugels. Life took another road but your videos take me home to that tree again. Thank you for that. And I'm not that damn old.
Woo-hoo! Sweptline time! I'm partial to my 318's, whether Poly or LA, but still hold a fond place in my heart for the ol' slant six. It was on one of them I learned that it really matters which wire is going to which plug. On my very first ever plug change, didn't pay ANY attention to which wire went where, figured "they all got spark" and just hooked 'em up, and it was no bueno. I was learned good after that.
Love that truck. Reminds me of a 1961 d100 I bought back in 1977 from a farmer in Georgia with a poly 318 rapping. Like you we bought an abandoned 1971 Fury 111 and used almost everything into the old pickup, from interior parts steering wheel. front seat, to LA style 318, radiator, etc. Truck had no body rot. After cleanup and driving for a few months, a person approached me and bought the old girl. Made some money and bought another vehicle. That truck also had a 12" hydraulic clutch. That truck did become a screamer after it was finished.
Funny you mention a mouth guard,.......I was doing an alignment on a 1 ton Chevy van and had to use a "crow's foot" to get to the shim holder nut on the upper control arm. Of course it was rusty and would not budge without "too much pressure". I know it was too much because the crow's foot slipped and rocketted out of it right into my front teeth. Broke one halfway off, just enough so the little nerve could dangle out of it. Unplanned trip to the dentist that day. That was 30 years ago and the repair is still holding up. (On the tooth that is), I hope the van is in a landfill somewhere.
Really enjoy your videos. My dog and I start every morning watching You and Duff. Two things I noticed in this video. 1) when you use a timing light you need to disconnect and plug the vacuum advance before reading the advance. This is what you compare to the value in the repair manual. 2) when an engine is running rough like this one was the first thing I would do is a dynamic power balance test which is just pulling one plug wire at a time from the cap to see how much difference it makes in the engine rpm then put it back in. You need some pliers made for this or risk getting zapped but on old cars especially it quickly tells which cylinder is causing the problem.

@@jeffrykopis5468 thanks, didn't know that. 67 dodge was so ugly on the front, that a grill change in 68 was a major improvement. Ugly or not I would still love to own one.
@@davidarnette327 I've had 3 '71s, and I'd say the 69 (68?) to 71s had the cleanest look, i.e., the least bizarre. But I also had a 64, with the flat, 4 eyed grille, and bumpy hood. Odd, but I liked it. Very nostalgic. I also love the late 65-66 nose, with the big pie plate headlight surrounds and the bumpy hood. They have so much character! I also prefer the 61-64? old school dash, with round gauges. And 61-64s with ATs had a cool push button shifter pod in the left corner. At some point, they went to a Schwinn Stingray type shifter handle on the dash. I love those too. Older motor homes used them too. But my 71s were ordinary column shift.
Back in the day, Mopar factory mechanics were somehow able to replace the bypass hose on both the 170" and the 225" without removing the water pump. Don't ask me how they did it. And the bypass hose on the 170" is 1" shorter than that on the 225", so you have 1" less room to remove it. I'll see what the FSM says the procedure is.
Checked the 1960 Valiant FSM, and it says to remove the water pump. Yet I do remember the mechanics at the dealership doing it without removing the water pump.

Rotella engine oil may help alleviate that drivetrain noise, it has them extra vitamins older engines need. I wouldn't use Fram filter, to each his own, good job getting it going.

We drove them all had a slant 6 225 62 short wheelbase , 2 67 s and a 1970 . The short ‘62 was my favorite it hung the road like a train on the tracks . The long base would weave on the road if loaded , I liked the running board behind the door and the fact that the hood would raise straight up. The straight front axle was super cool because extra leaf springs on front and rear could raise the truck .

It's true. Wasn't a armchair, but a big oak tree and a empty case of leinenkugels. Life took another road but your videos take me home to that tree again. Thank you for that. And I'm not that damn old.
Glad to hear it!
Yep alot of foo foo videos out there. Mortske and Puddin are my main one's to watch. Keeping it old school. Thank you for your service.
Glad you like them!
That’s how you learn!
318’s are pretty dang solid motor as well
Long live the King. You do whatever type of project you want. I am in every time. 👍🏼
DANG!!!
Mondays are great starting the week out right!! Morske in the morning ,and puddin in the evening makes Monday's GREAT!!
Enjoyed as always. Like the live shows. We the audience love Duff, and sort of like you.
The BEST old junk mechanic channel to watch when one's waiting for parts to arrive!! That's a great unintentional tech tip of the day at 1:36:30 If it's stuck in the snow cuz bald tires, just adjust the idle waaaay high. leave it in gear, and get out and push. LOL. The way you cut that bolt made me wince more than when you hit your fingers on the fan. Reminded me of my old shop teacher, Mr. Stumpy.
Bahahaha
Came to the where i live in a '74 Dodge Adventurer Club cab 3 /4ton. it had a 460. Beautiful Truck. Parked at my first place in on Vancouver Island and set about finding work to no avail,
and then had to move. and moved in with my Brother in the course of this my truck disappeared. Thank you BC
Dubsky and morski you got it goin on can't forget the putting ski great job
Bring your terrible friend around more often!!! You guys are a riot together hahahaha
Haha will do
@@MortskeRepair Thanks brotha!!!
@@MortskeRepair About to do my own resurrection of my old 1983 AMC Spirit that's been sitting for 7 years now. Wish me luck haha
@@MATTLEism good luck!
Duff and that channel of yours deserves quite a bit more recognition. 100k subs minimum easily. True car guy
Thanks much!
Love the videos. I start work at 11ish so your monday morning videos are the best thing, you time it great! Right after the kids go to school!
Good deal!
This really is a place of learning, this ain't college stuff, it's ass on cold floors and gashed knuckles - thanks mortske - you know your chops!
Much obliged, Ian.
Thanks again Ian!
just finished work in my shop and a new Mortske video is online :)
Perfect timing!
Great to see the King back in the road. Such a “neat” truck. Keep up the great work Mortske & Duff!
Thanks! Will do!
How neat is that!!??!
Love watching your videos! Love that truck!! You make removing and replacing an engine look very easy- I’m just now removing a inline 6 that’s stuck -from a CJ5 to replace with a running engine. Your video inspires me. And I’m a 60 year old gal 👍🏻😊
Glad to hear it Kammy!
Love the old trucks! Another very enjoyable video, thank you for the entertainment! Luff the Duffer, he's awesome!
Our pleasure!
Thanks for the Duff cam. He's the real star of your videos. :)
No doubt!
And Duff, filled with trepidation, nervously paces, considering alternative food sources. Good job, Mortske.
Thanks Fred!
Hey mortsky. I'm always happy when it's Monday. Because then we have a new video from you. It's A nice car and drives well. A lot of work you had done . Keep on going. I like duff. Make your channel big. God bless
Thanks again!
The first and last new truck I purchased was a 79 Dodger.....slant six....it was used to collect scrap wood from furniture factories in Thomasville NC to keep Maw Maw & Paw Paws house warm back in NC....they were getting up in age....Paw Paw lived to be over 100.
I know u dont think kids watch you but im 15 and have a bunch of piles myself and i love all the knowledge you helped me get my 83 Ranger running and keep doing what your doing
Much appreciated Mason!
"If you can't Dodge it, Ram it" Great job Mort! 👍 I enjoy all things mechanical, so I'm open to all types of videos, "will it runs", engine swaps, even the Frankenstein projects. I do like the will it runs the best though. And of course, Duff dog 🐕.
Much appreciated David!
You have become my favorite channel you can fix about anything and everything 😁😁😁😁💟💟💟👍
Much appreciated Mary!
best channel on youtube. out of all my subscriptions only Mortske can makes mondays bearable. now drop a 383 in it!
Much appreciated Alec! Slant six stays tho!
A lot of work, But I enjoyed seeing return of the dead. made me a great Monday and I like watching engine swaps.
Sweet little truck! Glad you stayed with the slant 6 and granny trans!
Right on Mortske, and Duff-ster! All’s I can do is watch your videos, I’m poor old man that can’t even pay attention, ain’t got a pot to “Peese” in nor a window to throw it out of, if you know what I mean?! But, if I could, I’d sure buy some of your merch, or something, if I could! You fellars stay safe up there!
Back in the day I had a Dart 225 3 on the tree. It wouldn't die. Great car I used it all through college and years beyond until I got broadsidedl Nice job put a clutch in it and some real tires. She will live on for some time. Rich from NJ😀
Duff 🐕 is the best! Thanks Duff for keeping Mortzke in line!
Thats a cool truck! ...All 3 (Chevy, Ford, and Dodge) trucks in 68 looked good. Ford and Chevy changed body styles in 67, and Dodge changed in 68. You and Duff are doing a great job 👏
Dodge didn't change much in 68, just the hood and grille designs. The big change came in 72.
The slant six is a keeper...its worth machining that crank...even for a daily runner or a Fire Breathing Beast.....
Thanks, Thomas! This should be a very popular video because everybody likes old Mopars.
Interesting!
Mortske you are the man. Puddin even said that you know way more than he does. Do what makes the money for you, because at the end of the day you have to save the shop lol . Keep up the great work and God Bless you and your family bro.
I appreciate that
Thanks for bringing us along with ya😁👍
Thanks Mortske, I like the long video content. The Duff camera is just perfect. You have plenty of projects to last for awhile... I like the King Dodge. Thanks again.🐕😊
Thanks 👍
Obviously I can’t speak for everyone, but I’m here watching whatever content you put out. I enjoy it all.
Much appreciated Timothy!
Cool truck. My first ride was a 73 D100 with a 318/727 and I wish I had it now. A good video with a Dodge and Duff. Duff is the coolest dog on the Interwebs I love the Duff Cam it's a great addition. My Dad had a 74 Dodge with a slant six that had over 300K on it when he sold it. He said it was the best engine he ever had. It just ran.
Right on!!
That series of Dodge truck is my favorite body style. Living in Texas they do not rust away and I would like to find one with the six and three on the tree and air conditioning. People who have them here keep them.
Marathon Monday's with Mortske and The Duffer-Man. This weeks episode King Petty Blue with Labatt's Blue King-Can's...
We join our fearless leader already in progress....
I liked the comment about the location of the ignition switch!! I'm not a Mopar fan but I like the simple styling of the truck and the bulletproof motor. Its a joy watching you get old cars and trucks running again.
Yeah, they're great for working on!
Man that was beautiful when you lifted the garage door and it was covered with snow,I love that view💕😍❄️💯
You can have it!
Dodge dart 4 doors with broken tourtion bars.... absolutely bullet proof. Still got you around town......yaaaaaaa, small town youth.
Enjoy the video and duff. So interesting to watch and pick up a few tips. Cool shop love the old grills hanging on the walls.
MY GOD! I think you are the only person I know that would swap in 3 Slant Sixes, then post 2 hour video of beating it with a stick and struggling through all the variations of Slant Six and trying to mix them all up with a Duff Dog that refuses to help and then then worst is I sit here with my own projects idle and watch you spray fuel all over your new Duff Dog shirt. What a thrash and in the end you can sell it and search for another. OH MY GOD!. Flaming Ford and Busted Valve of the Flatty. Oh wait, the timing was off adjusted it 3 times, Hey its idling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Yeah, Now .... Now Duff Dog gets a ride. And then you sell it and search for another one. God Bless You buddy, such a treat to watch, Take care, D
Much appreciated!
In 1981 a friend of mine had a 66 dodge pickup that he spun a bearing in and we put a set of bearings in it and drank a case of beer or 2 neither one of us had ever messed with any bearings before that old hillside hemi ran for about 4 more years before he knocked a hole in the pan and ran it out of oil and finally finished it off that old truck really impressed me
Nice!
The King is a cool old truck and I'm glad you are keeping these old trucks and cars on the road. #savetheshop.
Good one buddy! Yall keep em running up there and stay warm. It's about to get cold in West Texas! Two thumbs up 👍!
I just like this now and watch it later it's going to be good this is becoming my favourite TH-cam channel not just getting them going but the history behind them
Much appreciated Jason!
Love the Duff cam and I'm wondering if you might be just a little jealous. I mean you do all the work but he's really the star of your videos.
He sure is!
The gas spurt on your shirt followed by the D&D clip was fantastic. I really did LOL! Don't lose the shop!
Glad you enjoyed that classic!
Rotella engine oil may help alleviate that drivetrain noise, it has them extra vitamins older engines need. I wouldn't use Fram filter, to each his own, good job getting it going.
I have watched you channel for years, first time to comment, as I am dealing with the COVID and binge watching. Love you and Duff! Carona Deghand is watching too from FB!
Much appreciated Craig!
Every Monday I come home from work and turn on your newest video then I watch puddin absolutely enjoy the old dodge and the engine swap was cool too
Much appreciated!
"Way more gooder" describes one cool pickup and how my Monday morning is improving. Thank you Mr. M!
My pleasure!
My shirt arrived this week, all they down here in ozzie land. Thanks Duff & Co.
Thanks much Hudson!
I might have put some crocus cloth to that journal and put a new insert in and let her rip? As always you did it the right way!
Very 👍 nice! I'm a Mopar fan and presently restoring a 1966 A100 panel van. 360 LA w/ 904 built transmission. Enjoy working on old Dodge vehicles. Great 👍 content
Thanks!
Great video Mortske. Please thank Duff for me for all his thumbless contributions to getting the King back on the road. Looking good. Be well sir. Big Al.
Will do
I feel like I can feel your scorn every time I'm about to do something half-assed. Thanks for keeping me honest, Mortske
Happy to help Nicolas!
Cant think of a better way to start my Monday morning.
For sure should have at least 1/2 mil subscribers, very entertaining
Much appreciated Kevin!
Darn it Mortske! Every time I watch a video of yours I want another car/truck I don’t have time, room or money for!
Perfect!
Gotta love those California slicks in the snow.
Great vid bro 👍
I appreciate the fact that you do your best to keep these old rigs as close to as built as possible, instead of just throwing in a later model drive line😎🔥🇺🇸
Well we do that too!
