Thank you! I guess I will just have to admit to my love of all things colourwork. It is so much fun to see the designs appear with each row of knitting. Best wishes!
Thank-you sweet Margaret for the lovely recommendation of my podcast, as well as for introducing me to some new podcasters 🥰 That thrifted Norwegian sweater is absolutely stunning! What a find!! 😍 The knitting community is so wonderful and helpful and I'm glad you now have a solution for your beautiful Honeysuckle. All your projects are stunning and inspirational and have me itching to cast on alllllll the things 🤗🙈
Wow Margaret you working on so many beautiful projects! Every time I see your colourwork I am in awe 🥰 I hope 2024 will be the start to my colourwork journey 😊 Great thrift find love the motifs!
I'm so excited about your thrift store find. I bought myself that sweater last year in the eggplant color way, direct from Norway, and it fits amazing. It was an investment but I wear it almost daily so the cost per wear is already less than two bucks. In fact the sweater inspired me to start knitting again after a six year hiatus. Turns out knitting colourwork is a lot of fun!
Colourwork is my favourite way to knit. The Peace Sweater has found an owner today and it is a perfect fit. So glad that your found your kntiting mojo again. Best wishes for lots of knitting in 2024!
It always makes my day when you post a new video. I am in awe of your lovely, lovely projects! I’m committed to learning how to steek something in 2024 after seeing what you’ve made. Happy knitting!
Thank you! I was scared of steeking for many years. When I finally did it I couldn't believe how easy it was. It also opens many doors in the knitting world. Definitely give it a try with non-superwash yarn. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season!
Oh my God Margaret my heart stopped when you mentioned the motif on the back of the albertine jacket, I had forgotten about it completely. I never got out of bed so fast , TG I had only started the armhole shaping. You saved me ! I'm also half way through the Honeysuckle , I just can't go look at its size tonight, one heart stopping moment is enough for tonight. Love your thriftstore find.
I am so glad that I was able to help you out Mary. I almost missed putting in the motif too but thankfully it all worked out. I'm so happy with this sweater and I can't wait to wear it. Best wishes with all of your projects. It sounds like we have similar taste in designs.
So lovely to see your new fur baby, Siki (Seeki?), Margaret!! What a sweetie! Love that Cowl Latvian Blooms that you mention - and I love the original fuchsia and chartreuse colours, so that was nice to find on Rav. What a gem you found in the thrift shop - that will definitely last a lifetime for whomever it fits in your family! It's lovely! Anyway enjoy your knits, Cheers, Judith 💜
Thank you Judith! I am so enjoying my new puppy. He brings new life into the house for sure. I agree, the Latvian Bloom is such a beautiful pattern. I was really surprised it was free on rav. Best wishes and happy knitting!
Hello! I always love to see a new video from you. I remember the first time I watched 😊 I was in awe of the button sweater you were finishing. I am inspired by your knowledge and details. I have so much to learn! I’ll only get better by choosing more detailed patterns. Your knits are beautiful ❤ What an awesome find at the thrift store! It’s true that slow made knitwear can last generations. Thank you for making time to podcast. Looking forward to the next
Thank you so much for all of the compliments! You are right about choosing more detailed patterns. They help you learn and grow but so does this wonderful knitting community. I will definitely be keeping my eyes out for another great sweater find at my local thrift store!
Such a treat to return home after my knitting group to find your latest podcast. The details on the Dale sweater are pretty neat. You’ve trained your friend well in keeping an eye out for knitted gold! Love that motif on the back of your WIP - it’ll be stunning. Bye … Alex
Wow after podcaster Made by Jalene @dielekkerpodcast I am here I am from South Africa Your cable sweater look awesome after 15 years Cables and texture so nice to do Your colour work I admire Gift knits socks The Albertine knitting oh my knitting 💜 it's a masterpiece can't wait for the end result Your a master
Thank you! So nice to connect with another South African Knitter. I am eager to show more of my journey with the Albertine Jacket and even more excited to wear it. Best wishes!
Thank you for another beautiful podcast!❤ I am also going to make the Latvia Bloom cowl. I have the wool for it in my stash. I will plan on casting it on my needles in mid January. That way I will finish it , by early spring 😊 🐑 Take care
The Latvia Bloom is so beautiful. I can't wait to start it but I have to finish my current one first. I'm at the ribbing and that is never as interesting to complete. Wishing you a wonderful December full of knitting time!
Thanks Beverly. I just love colourwork. Seeky has fit in perfectly. He was named Seeky by his foster mother's nephew in Lebanon. I decided it suited him so it stuck. Thank you for watching!
So sorry to hear you are still on strike! I watched Jalene on the Lekker podcast right before I watched yours, and was happily surprised to hear her mention you! What a nice shout out. And thanks for mentioning my podcast, too. I hope your solution for the Marie Wallen sweater works out with the steeks; it is too lovely to rip out. The flower cowls are pretty. That Dale of Norway sweater is stunning! What a great find; I hope it fits one of your family members. And you are right, the motif on the back of the Albertine jacket is eye catching and will be even more amazing once you do the embellishments.
Thank you Joy! I am really looking forward to decorating the motif. With the strike being on for a few more days I might just get to it sooner than I thought!
Found you through Joy and I’ve subscribed as your work is right up my alley! What a find at the thrift store! I’ve had the Dale Peace sweater in my favorites on Ravelry since it was only in Norwegian! I’ve done several DON sweaters. Just lovely. I also have a Marie Wallen cardigan in my queue: Orkney for which I’ve purchased all the yarn but I’m dreading revising the pattern to work it in the round. No way I want to do it in pieces!
Hi! So glad you found me thanks to Joy. She is a wonder at knitting. You are smart to think about planning your Orkney in the round before starting. It is just so much easier! Now that I have a Peace Sweater that doesn't fit me I feel even more motivation to knit one. It is really stunning. Best wishes for a wonderful holiday season!
I don't know how I missed this episode! A very nice start to my weekend. I'm just swatching for the new Jennifer Beale sweater, Loch Leven. I'm not sure my yarn is the best for gauge, but I'll try to tweak it. I have quite a quantity of Alice Starmore Hebridean 2ply in one colour that I'd really like to use. Happy New Year from southern Ontario 😊
What a thrift store find in the sweater? I’m sorry to hear you are still on strike. I hope there is a resolution soon. I loved the idea for resolving the too big back of the sweater.
So much wonderful knitting inspiration 😍 For Aisling (Irish name pronunciation ash-ling) could you felt it? The Dale (at risk of being the pronunciation queen ☺️ pronounced dal-a) is stunning, amazing find! Love that you haggled on it too! 🤣
Thank you for the pronunciation help! I find languages so interesting coming from a multi-lingual family. Felting is a good suggestion. I love all the suggestions that come from this great community! Happy 2024 Knitting!
HI! Love that you are giving shout outs! I am currently obsessed with colourwork wildlife mittens. I'm in Winnipegand have a small growing channel, and my friend Carol Roy just started one called Swatch this Space. She is running a colourwork KAL in 2024 I'm going to join, maybe you would like to join in ❤ welcome Seeky!
Thankyou for letting me know about the KAL. I think colourwork mittens will be on my list for 2024. There are so many wonderful patterns out there. I particularly love the norwegian ones. Best wishes!
Nothing wrong with being a queen of colorwork! Beautiful knitting and an excellent thrift find!
