    Hi! from southern Alberta 🇨🇦 👋 Found you via Nikki on Knitting with Cat Hair. It's great to see so many Canucks popping up on YT ❤ I'll be doing loads of colorwork next year.

    Hi! I met you on PJKnits Zoom meeting last night. It was wonderful meeting you and finding your podcast. Your Marie Wallin knits are beautiful. I hope you will be able to come back to PJKnits Zoom in the future.

      Hi Marie! Yes, I remember you and I'm glad that you found me. Thank you so much. I do love Marie Wallin projects and her yarn is divine. However, I will be using Holst on any future projects as it is a fantastic value for money. I will definitely join more of PJKnits Zooms. It was a lot of fun. Have a wonderful week!

    I'm so glad to have found your podcast recently, Margaret, and have really enjoyed seeing what you are up to in your last few episodes! I'm enjoying knitting along with you from here in Ontario. Congrats on the arrival of your new furry sweetheart... a lovely new sibling for your other dog! I'm sure it made your heart feel so good to see them bonding, after what I know was such a heartbreak with your previous sweetie. I always love checking out the designers that others mention, and wow, the colourwork of Sidsel is indeed so darn pretty! Have a lovely week and enjoy your knits, Cheers, Judith 💜

      Sending a big hello to you in Ontario! Thank you for watching. I first saw Sidsel's designs on the Fruity Knitting podcast and I was sold. When I visited her webshop I knew I wanted to try almost every design that she had. I will have my new pup visit on the next episode but maybe I will do that before I bring out all the yarn. Best wishes and have a happy knitting week!

    Your colourwork is amazing! Too bad you have to redo the Marie Wallin but better now than when completely finished. I was on strike in the spring and picket duty is not fun! Welcome to your new puppy- he looks like he may be Bichon Frise which is the breed we have. They are great companions and bring such joy. Thanks for sharing!

    • @mywonderfulknittinglife
      @mywonderfulknittinglife  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don't really mind redoing projects so long as I have a break between the mistake and the redo. We are bracing ourselves for our next walkout strike. It is getting very cold up here so it won't be much fun. Rescue Dogs Lebanon Canada guessed that my new pup was a Poodle Bichon mix. He does look very Bichon but he has long legs making him appear more Poodle in structure but the soft fur is definitely Bichon. Thank you for watching and commenting. I am getting a lot of joy out of making so many connections in the knitting world. Happy Knitting!

    Hi, your M. Wallin honeysuckle is beautiful! I have a suggestion , instead of ripping back side , just cut it to size ,then knit front in the round with 3 steeks . . 1 for middle , and 2 for the sides so you can sew it with the back panel . Just an idea 😀

    • @mywonderfulknittinglife
      @mywonderfulknittinglife  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a fantastic idea! I will definitely think about it. Thank you!

    I have had a similar experience with Marie Wallin’s designs. My sweater was in the round and I realized it was going to be huge. I began to decrease on the sides until I got down to the size I preferred. The sweater is a-line which I like and I didn’t have to rip out and start over on 3 mm needles! Don’t worry about your dogs! I have one too. It is what it is!

      I am sorry that you had a similar experience with your Marie Wallin design but glad that I am not alone in this. I almost always hit gauge and it just didn't make sense. I will maybe have the courage to show my disaster sweater on the next podcast. Best wishes and happy knitting with your dog!

    Go for it, Margaret .... rip out the Marie Wallin, skein up and wash the yarn and then put it away till you want to start on a brand-new colourwork-in-the-round project. Great pictures of your dogs together. I am sure you mentioned in an earlier episode the yarn you used for weaving your tea towels, but can you remind me please. Not that I have a loom but I am interested to know.

    • @mywonderfulknittinglife
      @mywonderfulknittinglife  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The thread that I make my tea towels with is a 2/8 cotton in the warp. I use a 2/8th to weave with also but lately I have been purchasing a boucle 100% cotton and I love the look of it. It also fluffs up so nicely in the wash.
      I will definitely unwind the Marie Wallin yarn and start the same cardigan again in the round. It took a few months in hibernation for me to be brave enough to think of doing it. I will also go down to a size large. Happy knitting!

    So many things to talk about! First, I hope the strike ends soon! No fun to be out of work and picketing in the cold. I'm not really into crochet, but your colors in the playtime shawl make it very pretty (IMHO better than the others shown on ravelry!) And of course the mystery sweater! I love the colors you chose for the yoke; it's just beautiful. As an aside, I think your hair (color & curls) is lovely. I'm glad to hear the dogs are getting along and adding joy to your life. I look forward to seeing your next update, Margaret.

      Hi Joy! Thank you! I love my playtime shawl and I've thought of making another one as a gift. It is the prefect size and shape in my opinion. I usually prefer knitting too but this pattern just seems to work so well. I might have enough confidence to bring out the mystery sweater next time. 😆My hair used to be such a sore point in my life. I was picked on at school for being so different but now I love it. Funny how things change as we get older. I hope to update again soon as I'm making lots of progress on my Albertine Jacket and hope to cast off for the arms soon and put in another steek! Best wishes and happy knitting!🥰

      Also, I meant to comment that I agree with you regarding the shawl shape: longer & narrower seems to be more wearable and I've been trending that way with my own shawls, too.@@mywonderfulknittinglife

    Hi Margaret! I really enjoyed seeing your beautiful knits. I rarely knit garments at fingering weight, because my hands hurt with small gauges. So, it’s super fun to see other people’s gorgeously intricate knitting. Your cardigans are stunning. I hope you do reknit that Marie Wallin pattern. It’s so pretty! Thank you for this little catch up & I hope you can be back at work soon. ❤

      Hi! So glad you found me. I have been watching your podcast for quite sometime and I just love it. Funny how our hands are all different. Heavy weight yarn hurts my hands so I don't usually go heavier than a DK. Best wishes ❤

    So nice to ‘meet’ another avid colourwork knitter. My Marie Wallin Honeysuckle kit is waiting for it’s Christmas cast on. I had been considering knitting it flat (I’ve been practicing backwards knitting to avoid the whole purl colourwork thing), but I’ll most likely default to knitting it in the round like I did with her Yell cardigan. One option is to knit it 8n the round with steeks for front and each side, then cutting and seeming the sides- this would give it more structure. So many decisions..🤔

    • @mywonderfulknittinglife
      @mywonderfulknittinglife  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is such a great idea! I had not thought of it but you are right. That would give the structure she has in her designs. I have to look into backwards knitting. It would solve so many problems! Best wishes!

    I am completely in awe with your stunning colorwork Margaret! I have Marie Wallin’s Shetland book and hope that someday i have the courage and time to knit one of her beautiful cardigan patterns. I am so ever grateful to have won the yarn and sweet bag from last grande ourse and i will definitely share a photo of my finished shawl. I hope to cast on this winter as this is a garment I would like to bring with me when my husband and i travel to France in 2024. Thank you again and what a lovely podcast to watch. ❤

      Thank you so much for your kind comment. Sometimes I think we just have to leap into difficult projects and learn as we go. Hopefully you won't have to do as much ripping out as me. A trip to France sounds amazing. Hopefully you can check out a couple of yarn stores too!

    I’m so pleased to have found your podcast ! Beautiful colour work which I love knitting .
    I too have a Marie Wallin jumper I’ve put away as it’s way too large even though I met gauge. I think it’s time to start again as the wool is so nice .

      Hi Ann! Welcome! Thank you so much. I had a comment from someone who gave me an excellent idea on how to not have to rip out my cardigan. She is a genius and I will share her ideas on my next podcast. I agree. The wool is too nice not to use. I hope you can find a way to either use your jumper or reuse the yarn. Best wishes!

    As always your knits are beautiful. I would definitely re-do the cardigan and steek it like you said. Think of it as giving it new life and not all those many painful hours of knitting. Love the tea towels and those bags are gorgeous, what a generous person to gift them to the channel. Glad your dogs get along so well and your cat looks just like my brothers two cats, so cute.

      Thank you! Yes, I'm definitely going to do a redo on the cardigan. I will rip it out at xmas with the help of my daughter and it will be so much more enjoyable to do it in the round.
