@A G Hey don't get me wrong. I looked outstanding in my digs. Even my dungarees were always..But unless you were an E-7 & above or an officer, you were stuck with that damn "Dixie Cup". The dress blues were cool though (E-6 & below). I was never really diggin' the dress whites.

So I'm an SN Pact, if I wanna change my rate does it depend on my asvab score? I really wanna be an LS and I picked SN pact just because I saw LS on their list.
After you strike a rate and sign for 2 extra years is there a bonus included with that re enlisting?
i was subs but got disqualified for being "claustrophobic" even though im not now they sending me pact seamen but most of the stuff i want is in pact fireman am i only able to stike seamen rates or can i strike pact fireman rates as well

Being undes is what you make it. But other rates here at Great Lakes typically look down on PACT Seamen. In my QM class our instructors would tell us if we didn't pass qm a School, then instead of driving the boat we'd be painting it as undesignated seamen.

Funny, funny. I did not enter as you did. But I was nuclear power and did not get selected to a rate until sometime in boot camp. I found out later it was just luck that the Navy needed Nuc EMs. I knew some strikers (that's what we called them on submarines). But they were not happy like you. This is an old video, I will check out some newer ones and see what rate you ended up with. CHOOSE YOUR RATE, PICK YOUR FATE. That's submariners look at it.

Best thing you can do is study hard for the ASVAB before you take it and try to score high. That will make all the difference in the world for you and wait till the rate that you want is available and then go. Bottom line

Everyone picks their rate at MEPS. Even the undesignated.

What the hell is up with the Navy not having jobs for peeps, Im seeing a massive amount of undes recruits and my gut feeling is they had a job in mind when they first stepped into the recruiters office
low asvab scores got a 36 did good on everything but math ar got a 36 tanked my line scores had no choice but undes
I have a feeling this is my best option. I scored a 34 and STILL enlisted but was wondering am I able to retake the asvab while I’m in?? And then obviously strike a rate.
My recruiter said i could strike a rate out of all that i liked in Apact but i don’t believe that bullshit im taking the asvab again even tho im in dep already but i would say just retake it now

Freshdose well I was going for air rescue diver but I got a 44 so I got this job. So I got a long way to go .

Pretty much if u are not a citizen u can’t have a rate lol so u gotta do 2 years undes and become a citizen during that time. After that u can pick a rate, which for someone who’s not from the USA is a good deal. That’s what I’m taking, leaving on September.
