  • I work in The Wardroom cooking for the officers, breakfast and lunch. I'm assisted by 2 FSA( food service attendants). Thank you to my FSAs and The CSs that helped me with the recording of this video.

      You’ll love it. I did and I would suggest flag CS or work as the CO’s (commanding officer) cook on the ship. That was my main job and I loved it. You’re able to focus more on your skills and are able to cook more what you like.

      The coveralls gets hot in the kitchen and unfortunately you can’t half mast. You have to keep it on the way I had it on in the video. On my ship we weren’t allowed to. Good luck in your journey! 🫶🏾

    What does a CS do after the Navy?

    • @anabellejean
      @anabellejean  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There’s a variety of choice such as going to culinary school, opening your own business like a food truck or a restaurant. Anything in the culinary arts of you choose. For myself I started school the same day I got out. I’m in school for business and my dreams for the future is to open a restaurant then a couple more.

    Is it true y’all don’t get any days off and work like 20 hour shifts daily?

    • @anabellejean
      @anabellejean  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We do get time off. Most ships including mine has a 5-3 schedule. I was on The USS Iwo Jima LHD7. Two watch teams in the galley. Ex: starboard watch would work Monday and Tuesday, have Wednesday off and work Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Port watch would have Monday and Tuesday off since starboard watch is working then Port would work Wednesday and then have Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Each watch has every other weekend off basically. Hope this helps

      We do get days off. We work long hours since we have to cook all three meals

    Do you recommend this rate if so are there any benefits of this rate

    • @anabellejean
      @anabellejean  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I would recommend it if you are interested in learning more about the culinary arts. You can also learn about paperwork and how to run a kitchen. Be aware of the long hours and the early mornings. Most days start at 4:30 AM. Benefits are it’s easy to network since you cook for everyone on the ship. You also can get certifications that you can use in the civilian world if you stay in the culinary world.

    • @anabellejean
      @anabellejean  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@eyeswideopen4888 For me it was worth it. I did my whole contract which felt like a great accomplishment. The pay differs but being married the pay was About $4000 a month.

    only valid if you're on a ship with 3 other people - in the real navy the food is total dogshit

    • @anabellejean
      @anabellejean  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It all depends on the ship and the CS’s I love to cook and went above and beyond for my fellow sailors. Anything I could do to make the food a little better I would such as adding an egg, grilled onions, bacon and toasting their bun for their cheeseburger. This among other stuff.
