Yo guys this is Bubba, 2018 road glide special, I met y’all when you were at the ohlins booth making this video. Hope y’all enjoyed the rest of your trip. Ohlins suspension is the best money can buy. They serviced/setup my ohlins “big bear” 30mm front end and setup my ohlins HD 044 rear shocks to match. Honestly can say it’s never felt so good, rides and handles amazing, bitch corners like a super bike. Suspension setup is key, spend the time and set your shit up right you’ll be so thankful you did! Such a great video on a great product, hope y’all are enjoying them
Bubba. was a pleasure Meeting you my man. glad they got your Fronts set up and good to go. you arent kidding man. I'm loving these Ohlins.. thanks for watching
Well. Yes. But I personal think when it comes to comfort and handling the bike it's #1 Suspension and #1a Handlebars... both have to be done in my opinion...
The stock Harley suspension works well. If it’s not set wrong and if you don’t travel too long on a wrong setting. That being said even the right setting will eventually wear out on long travel. Same as their plush seat designs for the Limited Models. So right off the bat you go and buy a high end Harley touring bike the feel is amazing. Here’s my experience, Harley suspension takes give or take 40 minutes to stop working smooth and start to decompress to a point where each bump you hit it feels like your spring are hard. Fox shock which I’ve had and one that’s called IFP, actually does a nice job, until putting it to the test of a 3000 miles trip on a daily 8-10 hours travel with 5-600 mile range. Adjust it the first time and only time. Sat on it, loaded it up with the weight and does the adjustment. Had to recheck on the adjustment after the 1st day within the first 600 miles. Had to turn it a little bit more. Then after the 5th day, with the 3000 miles trip ended, had to readjust it again because it was bottoming out. Also notice what would have looked like the oil spitting out somewhere. But wasn’t leaking. Just messy. Cleaned it and try to recreate the oil reaction again, it’s dry up to this day. Not much was lost and neither me know if any oil is left there or if I have plenty to go around. Did another 1000 miles trip with 8 hours both day, we are now on 4000 miles in total without having to readjust it on the first 500 miles nor after, the spring rate compressed nice with the weight that it was adjusted to without bottoming out not even once. I guess the shock is then broken in even though before the trip, that shock was being used daily with over 6000 miles on it. It was swapped from another bike that was sold to continue being used. So I would say expect these Oilins to keep up after 5 days and doesn’t need a break-in process and doesn’t need readjustments. Otherwise if it’s anything similar to Fox and Legends without their reservoir with the 1k price range, I am going to stick with my current version that I have.
I can’t thank you enough for posting this video. My back is shot from the Progressive shocks on my bike. I will be installing myself and your video showed me a lot of short cuts thank you guys stay in the fight
That is super cool. I know I did not realize how much went into suspension until I upgraded. I have a mono shock, dual shocks is really crazy. Great video. Ohh yeah. That window idea is awesome. What a way to not miss a customer. That is top notch.
Yeah a lot goes into suspension and you do get what you pay for . Yeah Joey at Ohlins designed that trailer, you meet him in the next Ohlins video where my front suspension gets installed
Nice video. So many quality aftermarket shocks. I have to agree the suspension especially rear is not good on stock bikes. I went with Supershox out of Illinois. Excellent product as well
I went with legends. I bet it’s the best upgrade you can do to your bike. There are a few great suspension companies out there, all about the same. Anything is better than stock.
I also went with Legends... my local Harley dealer sells them and then does a free installation with the purchase. The stock shocks are absolutely terrible and things like that give me pause on whether I'd buy another Harley again.
I went with Legends but I could tell the improvement as soon as I left my driveway. I find myself looking for railroad tracks. Now I want to do the front suspension. Just added the Baggers and Brews sticker to my tool chest.
We've seen riders come in with Legends/Progressive/Etc. & after installing Ohlins on their bike they all come back saying the same thing. "I should've gotten Ohlins to start with!"
I put some Legends on my Street Glide and also felt the difference immediately. The stock shocks that Harley uses totally suck. You'd think that you'd get a decent shock when you drop $30 grand on a brand new 2020. I liked the air suspension on my 2002 Road King better.
@@rhoonah5849 all manufacturers have to make compromises to get the vehicle out the door at a reasonable (?) price. They have to cut costs somewhere. Shocks are a common place where they can save money $! 😃
@@discmotoslots $32k is hardly a "reasonable" price for a motorcycle. It is a premium price for what is supposed to be a premium motorcycle. Shocks are NOT a place to cut corners since if the thing rides like a hard tail then what's the point?
Stephen glad we could help, so awesome to be able to set up suspension without having to measure sag. The front suspension install is coming next week!
I just installed the SE version. I took off my Legend Revo A shocks . I've got to tell you I'm very impressed with the new shocks it's a night and day difference
Well I suppose this could be argued all day. But I will say one thing... look at all the teams that race in the King of the Baggers circuit... ALL USE OHLINS
@baggers and brews, @DABEARD. is there a difference between the HDSE OHLINS and the regular 044 OHLINS springs that you installed? I heard the HDSE are NOT built from Ohlins specifically for the rider/bike combo, Where the Gold Ohlins like yours takes your weight..ect and builds the springs exactly for YOU and your bike. Whereas the HDSE springs are not. Do you know if that's true? Oh and the HD version comes with the black bracket to mount above and behind the saddlebags and just under a tour pack. Whereas the Gold OHLINS don't have the bracket as of yet. So I guess you got a hookup with the new black mounting brackets? Thank you.
Good video. 2021 FLHTK Running HD 772's and Nix 22's in the front (front just installed). WOW! Got to adjust to riding with no fork dive. Adjusting the rear sag is crucial. I'll be watching for updates.
I do notice a big difference. And unfortunately No we don't have a code. But if there's a spot for comments at check out, feel free to mention Baggers And Brews
We have done a full review, but i think we will in the coming months. They have been great however it's like riding a completely different bike, especially in the curves !
Peter Ohlins offer a few different levels of rear suspensions, check out the link in the description . As for installation the rear is easy to install, or you can just have them do it at a rally. I can’t imagine a dealer charging you more than an hour of labor to that job.
Did yo have to schedule the install at the show or you were able to jsut show up and they got you guys in?? I would LOVE to do my front in Myrtle or Daytona (biketoberfest) if they are there
RedRider, we had been talking to Them prior to the Rally so when we got there they were able to take us first thing in the morning. But you should Still be able to go and get the install without an appt. If you go to the tent and talk to them they will get you on the list and tell you when to bring the bike over to the tent!! Getting there first thing in the am is the best way to guarantee u get it done
Great video, but what a disgrace that when buying a top of the range Harley the first thing you have to do is replace the suspension. Why can't Harley put decent suspension on them at the prices they charge? (And while we are at it decent looking and feeling handlebars, touring seats................. )

So Gilbert, no we didn't, because we were a 1000 miles from home at a rally and didn't plan the space. But that is definitely something to consider.
