I agree with suspension being one of the top upgrades I made to my touring Harley. What bothers me is for what Harleys cost they should come with the better suspension components from the factory.
And to think of all the road-trips I’ve taken on stock suspension, all the ripples and buckles in the pavement you don’t see, you just feel it after the fact, rip up your spine when you hit it, and you just take it, say a few cuss roads, and stay on the gas.🤣🤣🤣 Can’t wait to upgrade on my build!
@@hitituprohb If your being patient is a money thing, start with just the rear and do the front later on. I bought Legands front and rear a couple of years ago for my '15 Ultra Classic so I know it's expensive. I installed the rear when they came in and hoping to finally install my front this rear lol. There's such a huge difference from factory shocks with just the rear.
I got the same bike. It doesn't compare to aftermarkets, but the spine-shattering ride goes away at about 1,200 miles. After the break in the rear shocks start to act like suspension.
Just put Legends on mine. Ohlin’s might be adjusted the same since they look similar so… 1. Adjust the sag first. With me on the bike, the distance from the lower mounting bolt to the upper (center to center) should be 12” +/- ¼“ which puts it right in the middle since my shocks are 11” fully compressed and 13” uncompressed. 2. Set the rebound to mid range and leave it there for now. Adjust the compression until the ride is comfortable for you (not too stiff or too soft) 3. Adjust the rebound until the bike just reaches that point where it doesn’t “bounce” after a bump in the road. Fantastic suspension. Happy trails and thanks for another great video.
Suspension is my top three things for a new bike whether it would be brand new or new used because suspension can make the bike feel completely different as in handles better and just all around hugs the road and doesn't throw you out of the seat or bottom out😊
I just put these on my 22 RGS in WSP today. So much better than the stock. I barely felt the bumps in the road. Amazing! Definitely going to do the forks next. thanks for the inspiration! DrB
On a street glide or a road glide I would not be opposed. Has a nice performance look I don’t believe I would like the look on my ultra limited. It’s my understanding that the reservoirs add additional oil to keep the temp down so the viscosity and ride stays consistent. I must say I have really enjoyed your content lately. Thanks for the hard work.
Suspension is a certifiably crucial upgrade. Especially on the front end with the typical peanut butter squish on all Harleys. When I did mine it was a night/day difference in ride quality. Whether öhlins, legends, racetech, RWD; long as it's one of the higher end brands you're winning. Just wait till you put those cartridges in 💪🏻💪🏻 there tons of great stuff on the racetech site about suspension physics (sag, rebound, preload).
I have the same suspension in the rear of my '22 Street Glide ST - absolutely love them as they were set up by the HD dealership - look much forward to tuning advice - just added Advanblack tour pack and better-half will be sitting on back occasionally - prolly gonna need some tuning for that. :). Love the content - keep it coming . . . please. :)
Great video as always. Like to hear your opinion on after market stuff. The suspension looks great but I wouldn't trade my Wilbur's suspension for anything else.
it is interesting how bad the stock tour suspension is. It took 1 week on my sgs to swap out. I chose Legend. some friends run them and were happy. Im a big dude, and so having the 1" shorter special shocks didnt work great, and legend swapped them for free out to the standard length shocks. Rode a week and a half 5000 miles and were very happy with them.
I must admit, the more I see that setup, the more it grows on me. I'm not 100% sold on it yet, but it's getting there. I'm trying to decide if I want to go with Legends or these. I'm a "full-figured" guy myself, and I plan on some cross-country rides from time to time. I ride solo mostly but occasionally will run with my wife, who is...how to say this...well, she's got curves. Just looking for input.
You won’t regret the Ohlins man. I’ve had two sets of Legends on previous bikes and they’ve leaked fluid on me. I just got these a few weeks ago and they are fing awesome night and day difference over stock. For reference I’m 6’3” 275 lbs
@@ProfessionalMonkey can’t wait I’ve had my eyes on a crossbones forever that I just recently inquired already ordered the Amazon sissy bar bag you had a review on can’t wait to get some trips in with the bike this summer.
Finally got to test ride a road glide today. It was the ultra limited version (2024). Road nice but sits a bit high for me at 5 8. Im also looking at a used RGS that is a 2019. IF i can get that one, im thinking id want the upgraded front and rear suspension as my first big upgrades. Hoping the RGS sits a bit lower and I can flat foot it. I was only able to get on the balls of my feet on the limited....and I really like the extended bags on the RGS.....so we will see. What are your thoughts about the suspension though...major upgrade?
Yes i agree with you, not a fan of the look 😮 love your channel my friend, I cant get enough!!! You crack me up I cant stop laughing, you talking about your physique 😂😂😂😂
Wow …that’s a great price actually! I was cringing, totally expecting to see $2,500, and was pleasantly surprised. I‘ll seriously consider it. Please let us know how it feels after about 1k miles.
Just put got these put on but now my quick detach sissy bar will not fit for wife. Did you notice this as well? Seems like gap between frame and shock where front of quick detach sits is too small now.
While a better suspension would be nice, $1500 plus tax I'll live with the stock shocks. That's more than my cabin at Shade valley campground in Sturgis.
my eyes dont know which i dislike more loop sided gas tanks where they forgot the bal. of two caps or cans stuck out behind the sickel I M a fan of a well bal. D R E E S E R i guess i m old set in my ways thats went a HD sickel is about be happy make it yr own HAPPY TRAILS
How do Öhlins and Wilbers compare in terms of comfort after you rode them for a while now?? have been looking for someone who has actually experienced BOTH for ages!
I don’t care how good it rides, that look is just not for me. I got my first bagger, a Street Glide, in November. Just able to start riding somewhat the last week or so. The ride was much harsher than my softail and I really thought I’d need to change out the shocks. Then I read the owners manual and adjusted the shocks for my weight. It smoothed out considerably and now I’m not sure if I’ll bother changing them at all.
Suspension is important...them res are sticking wayyyyyy out...like a pimple on a big girls butt...as long as you like them is what matters...and yes I would run them if I got them for free...pimples and all...would be interested to hear your comparison to CVO shocks on mommas glide vs ohlins vs Wilbers
Take this for what’s it’s worth but I recommend the Ohlins. I’ve had two sets of Legends and they tend to leak fluid after a while. I just got these Ohlins a few weeks ago and couldn’t be happier.
@@smokeythebear9293 Appreciate you sharing your experience and opinion. Thanks. Suspension will be something for next year for me, but the more I know the better decision I make when I do pull the trigger
Those shocks along with the Wilbers are great shocks but for a retired guy like me trying to stretch my Biden crushed $ I went with Supershox, I gained shock travel, comfort and performance while saving $$$ on an American made product. Shocks with reservoirs on a bagger are like the 60 year old marrying a 20 year old the sex may be good but the other 23 hours of the day she is worthless.

I added the 13 inch Ohlins with remote reservoirs on my 2019 Street Glide. The best money I have spent in 54 years of riding! The ride is amazing!
I agree the first upgrade is exhaust I went with the Tabs angle cut 50 cals and my bike sounds amazing I couldn’t take the stock pipes
Im eager to hear what your opinions are comparing Ohlins to Wilber’s
Same… I’m installing Legends Heavy duty for my ex large self. Hear they are nice
Been a patient boy waiting to upgrade my front and rear suspension. Fingers crossed I can do it before summer. Got a trip from MO to OR planned.

With most aftermarket shocks the remote reservoir also adds a half inch of travel without going to a taller shock according to Legends suspension.
Super cool video on Advanblack

Suspension is an expensive upgrade but, it is worth every penny.
I just ordered a set waiting for them.
I need a set of those on my king. I feel everything on the road with stock shocks.
they look good. good vid
Not big fan of remote reservoir but starting to grow on me at least mounted like yours instead of little rocket booster look.

I definitely wouldn’t make a change, it’s just cool to try the different options and share…

Yes, soft rears I like!
Are you able to put the remote reservoir inside if I didn’t want them on the outside?
What are your honest thoughts on your seats, during five to six hour rides?
Have you heard anything positive on “Ultimate seats”?
I don’t know ultimate sears sorry. For a 6 hour ride I would run a big ugly touring seat…
