That´s actually the worst about it all. Stock susp is normaly more or less crappy on most bikes but INDIAN does it better than HD on that particular matter.
Even more so on an expensive TOURING bike. It makes no sense. I’ve done a couple thousand miles on a road glide, and I was appalled by the lack of comfort and travel of the rear suspension. Literally any other touring bike from any other manufacturer blows HD’s away.
I just bought a streetglide, hit my first pothole doing 45 or so and it slammed down and scared the S out of me. It's bad for such an expensive touring bike.

You won't regret your decision! Wilbers comes with even more, a continuously adapting spring rate and damping in the rear-no other suspension is capable of that and that's what makes the difference.
I love watching these vids. They make it look so easy. So easy in fact that I plan my own modding, set my goal, get motivated, get to the bike with my amateur tools, look at it. I have had a 1996, 92k miles, 2006, 98k miles and just bought a 2020 couple years ago the 2020 Road Glide LTD had the worst out of all 3. Do a light weight Harley build! Aluminum swing arm, carbon fiber rims, aluminum and carbon fiber everywhere to see how much weight can be remove. Light weight means better handling, braking, and acceleration. No one has done that to an steel heavy Harlwy
I never understood why the HD baggers have such poor suspension. All the money you spend on the bike and then have to upgrade the suspension as well. My Indian Springfield Darkhorse has 5 inches of travel with Fox suspension stock. A dream to ride.
That part has always bothered me. The $20K Electra Glide Standard runs the exact same suspension as the $55k CVO. I had looked at the Indians, and was really considering it. But the ONLY dealership where I live is filled with a bunch of arrogant wankers.
Hey block! Old video but I am looking for shocks upgrade on my 2012 King. She’s pushing lots of power so I want great performance shocks and smooth ride! These looks like a great kit from your review, any other suggestions ?
HD should offer the touring bikes in a stripped down version that comes with: No exhaust, no bars, no seat, no suspension, no air breather. Those are the components that get changed out most often. Then the customer could kit it out the way they want without spending $ 600 plus dollars ( for example ) on crappy shocks that nobody ever likes. Maybe the laws don't allow for this, but that would appeal to me and a whole lot of buyers.

Thanks for the video. I wonder how H-D can possibly reconcile that they produce quality products and then even on the CVO’s, produce crap shocks? Shocks are sort of basic no? How much does it set you back for the equipment and install?
I believe a little under 2K for the suspension plus install
What did it do to the ride height going from 12” to 13” shocks ? Seems the new suspension sags more
Thank you for the video. Purchased a set last month and just received them.
You will love it, make sure the install is done right, especially the initial 3/4 in sag adjustment on the rear.
Are the fronts just springs and oil? No cartridge like the Ohlins and Legends up front?
Great video. I'm looking at options for my '19 FLHT. Definitely will consider Wilbers. Also, what seat is on the RG? Seems great for solo (very supportive) as well as 2 up (nice and wide). Great looking bike.
Is this the beginning of Blocks need of a bagger bike? We all know you want one. Also all the pop culture references on point haha.
You are 100 percent on the bad roads in Louisiana. My RGS takes a beating every time lol
And the funny thing is that I will have the info about it long before Chris will which is awesome
Damn Chris cleans up nicely! 🤘🏻 keep rocking your bad self buddy!
The question chris, is why doesnt harley do better out the gate?
Just when I think I'm done modifying my bike I see something like this...
I'll buy the rear...enter in old school KYB gas adjust shocks for cars, but sell me on only changing a spring and the oil in the front forks.
Nice comparison guys i hope theres any way you guys can do a comparison between the 2 bikes again on canyon riding handling and all that good stuff… thank you
Can these be ordered online and sent to my home?
Very good vid! Nice alternative and a seemingly good set up.
What is the sag set at with just the rider on? And how can I get a more plush ride? I have to check my sag , I had my ol lady measure with me on it had the tour pack on as well. I am feeling every bump. So I think i need to adjust it. I didn’t do any adjustments when I installed them.
Do your pants get tighter with each year of experience as a master tech?
I have stock suspension, with a 2 inch drop in the back, in order to plant my feet on the ground a little better when stopping, bike rides like a brick "/ thinking of switching to burly 10.5 inch slammer shocks on back, not sure what difference that will make in ride comfort "/
Do a light weight Harley build! Aluminum swing arm, carbon fiber rims, aluminum and carbon fiber everywhere to see how much weight can be remove. Light weight means better handling, braking, and acceleration. No one has done that to an steel heavy Harlwy
Wow that much of a difference!
How tall is the suspension? Front and back. Does it keep factory height? Or does it lower or raises the bike up?
Hey block! Old video but I am looking for shocks upgrade on my 2012 King. She’s pushing lots of power so I want great performance shocks and smooth ride! These looks like a great kit from your review, any other suggestions ?
HD should offer the touring bikes in a stripped down version that comes with:
No exhaust, no bars, no seat, no suspension, no air breather. Those are the components that get changed out most often. Then the customer could kit it out the way they want without spending $ 600 plus dollars ( for example ) on crappy shocks that nobody ever likes. Maybe the laws don't allow for this, but that would appeal to me and a whole lot of buyers.
How about RG3 to install Wilber suspension, I have Legend suspension on my RG3 now and it’s terrible 😡
Great video man
The red paper says basically "please read the operation manual before beginning the ride"
Translated by a German blockhead fan :)
nice I'm going to see about get this setup on my 2006 Road King. Maine roads suck
Thank you! Great video and honest review!
Really interested in this setup
Are you still happy with the Wilber’s?
You have to ask Ely at Seminole HD, it's his bike. Million Dollar Bogan still is, after 10.000mls (50% off Road trough Mexico) on his Road King Special
At 40 grand, there shouldn’t be anything better then whats on it.
Spent 25k on my slightly used 2019 RGS. The shocks are shit. Yet $2500+ install for wilburs set up is a grip.
Hardest thing for me to overcome. U buy a half built bike for twice what a high performance bike would go for out of the box
Buy an American bike only to put on a German suspension. WTF?
@@surfsessions100My 22 year old Harley is still worth what I paid for it and still want the bike more; my 22 year old YamaHoSuKaw … …well, I can’t even give it away. I’ll take the Harley. My money is worth more than cheap.
Will there be anything done with the block box soon?
What’s chris’ opinion about H-D Premium emulsion shocks for Dyna?
So are you gonna do suspension on Goldzilla now
Hi block good to be back😎🇦🇺👋👍
Impressed. Wish they made sets for Softails!
Unfortunately not possible so far, the internal mechanism of the self leveling system needs to be mounted almost upright, that makes it impossible to adapted to TC or M8 Softails
Ha! We use crown bags at Roosters in Sioux City Ia
