Black butterfly and silly are my favorite songs.
Love Silly!!! Thanks for sharing
Black Butterfly is my anthem 🥰
Deniece Williams is a Legend. Love her...
Don't we all 🙏🏽 Thank you!!!
The Songbird, Deniece Williams 👏🏾 !! Im so glad you asked questions that went beyond the typical ones that i've heard other interviewers ask! She is one of the greatest voices of our time, but doesn't always get the recognition she deserves. Thank you for featuring this legendary lady!
MyDawg❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I remember back in the day, I heard Deneice's Free for the very first time on the radio. Needless to say, I grabbed my car keys had headed to the neighborhood record shop. I had to wait in a long line to get my copy. Been a fan ever since.
Beautiful memory. Thank you for sharing that.
They should have had her facing the camera. She is still so gorgeous. I know someone who looks just like her.
Understandable, last-minute changes to her seating, but the entire interview isn't like that, and she told some amazing stories to her fans. Thank you for watching 🙏🏽
I can't believe in all the years I'd listened to and enjoyed Deniece Williams music, I'd never seen her in an interview. This was a most insightful and interesting chat with one of the best female singers of the last few generations. Love you! Keep it going Deniece!
Thanks for listening. Comments like this keep me going. 🙏🏽
Her songs are so iconic. Free and It’s Gonna Take a miracle are my faves. I love her bell tones. She made many memorable contributions to the music of the lates 70’s and early 80’s. Luv ya, Niecy.
Minnie did a song where Deniece was singing the background. One of my all time fave songs.
DENIECE WILLIAMS is defining the difference being AN ARTIST, and pursuing celebrity status.
“Let’s hear it for the boys” will always be my absolute fav!❤
Also how is this woman not aging? She is stunning.
I think it's because she continues to do shows. It keeps her young. Thanks for watching.
Denise Williams duets with Johnny Mathis were pure heaven. I loved to see them perform together. The admiration and affection for each other was obvious.
What's your favorite Deniece Williams song?
@JuniorLLedo "God Is Truly Amazing! One Luv ❤️!!!
One was the intro to the tv series Family Ties w. MJ Fox.😉
@@JuniorLLedo the song titled 'free & they said "
@@JuniorLLedoCause you love me baby
I MISS THE LEGENDARY NATALIE COLE ALSO 😥😥 THANK YOU QUEEN DENIECE FOR MENTIONING MY FAVORITE FEMALE SONGSTRESS OF ALL TIME NATALIE COLE 🤗🤗 ....R.I.P. 🙏
She's been the song track to millions of lives.
Gary, Indiana born and bred we love us some Deniece Williams!! She is so real and down to earth I had the pleasure of meeting her at her birthday celebration this year. She has a beautiful voice and she's a beautiful human being.
She was very sweet.
Deniece's 1986 album "So Glad I Know" will always be a favorite of mine. Released by Sparrow Records on the heels of her #1 song "Let's Hear It For The Boy", the album reached #5 on Contemporary Christian charts and #7 on Gospel and spawned an impressive total of 4 hit singles on Christian Radio Airplay. It received multiple Grammy nominations and deservedly won "Best Gospel performance Duo or Group" for the song "They Say" which featured Deniece alongside a superstar of CCM, Sandy Patty. In addition, the track "I Surrender All" from the album won the Grammy for "Best Soul Gospel Performance Female" . These were notable accomplishments within the world of music entertainment. At a time when premier Christian artists such as Amy Grant were boldly breaking into Pop Mainstream, "Niecy" surprised everyone by doing the reverse when she gracefully and successfully transitioned from Pop/R&B into the Inspirational/Spiritual genre. Through the recording and releasing of this album Deniece effortlessly took the newly expanding faith-based music industry by storm with her remarkable talent and personal convictions. She not only secured further career accolades for herself, but she also beautifully showcased what a pure heart, and a lovely voice, and a strong belief, can create artistically, not only for the listener, but more importantly for The Lord. What a blessing. A sweet sopranic vocal fluttering on earthly angel wings. She is indeed a Songbird.
One of my favourite albums as well. My Soul Desire, They Say, So Glad I Know and I Surrender All are my favourites from the album. I still listen to her Christian albums in particular, I wish they were on Spotify/Apple Music.
I remember buying Deneice's debut album and I loved the whole album. When I heard the song Free I felt she was talking about me because I always said I just want to be free. She's a living legend.
Yes, as cliche as it sounds and the word is overused but she’s truly underrated and unrecognized in the music industry.
"You're all that matters" is my favorite Deniece Williams song. 😀
That's my top 3
I loved that song as well as " It's your Conscience"....so beautiful .....the whole album is awesome.
My favorite Denise William songs are

You have such an amazing list. Thank you for sharing that.
"I'mma be quiet and eat my greens!" 😂 I grew up hearing her (as well as the magnificent artists from her era going all the way back to the 60's) because my mother would have that melodious music blaring throughout the house and in her car! I even got my own family listening to 'em, and they always come home with stories of strangers asking how they know about these songs. 😁
She was a wonderful guest! Gotta love it when they come ready to share with Enthusiasm. I've sent this to my mom. She's gonna be ecstatic!
Thank you for sharing this with us. I hope your mother enjoys the interview. Pray.
@JuniorLLedo I truly did! I love her ❤
To hear her duet with Phillip Bailey on the track 'They Say', is amazing
She told so many amazing stories .
You should Turn the Chair so that we can SEE Deniece's Face and NOT her Side!!!! I ADORE Deniece Wiliams, Her Voice is PRICELESS!!!
Understandable, last-minute changes to her seating, but the entire interview isn't like that, and she told some amazing stories to her fans. Thank you for watching 🙏🏽
@@JuniorLLedoYes, the entire interview was like that! 😕
She is still beautiful. Always loved her since I was a kid. 😍
And very kind as well. She's amazing

What's your top 3 Deniece Williams songs?
This is the best interview of Deniece I've watched.
These types of comments keep me going. Thank you 🙏🏽
Love that you're interviewing the legend, Deniece Williams. My only critique is that I would have enjoyed actually SEEING her. Your camera angle focuses on you and not the guest. We can't see her face.😮
Understandable, last-minute changes to her seating, but the entire interview isn't like that, and she told some amazing stories to her fans. Thank you for watching 🙏🏽
I love Neicy! I didn't know she had wrote Silly and Free. Silly is my favorite.
Wow!! What a beautiful SPIRIT Deniece Williams is: exactly as I would’ve expected. This is my first time ever seeing her in an interview. I’d love to read a memoir by her. She is gorgeous. She’s been in the business for almost five decades and looks and sounds absolutely incredible! Deniece Williams is iconic! We are loosing so many of the artist I heard as a youngster. Thank you for interviewing her and thank her for the many years of gracing us with her gifts. She’s incredible! ❤️🌹🙏🏽
In closing, I loved how she came correct when stating she is from Gary, Indiana and Junior Lledo interacts, “Michael Jackson” she immediately informs him, “No! Deniece Williams!” I loved, loved, loved her response!! 😂🤣👍🏼🌹❤️ This interview was EVERYTHING!
Niecy deserves a ⭐ on the Hollywood walk Of Fame for her contribution to American music!!!! Point blank period before she leaves this world I'd like to see it happen.
Wow ! Denise looks fantastic and fabulous. She’s still here, considering so many Divas have been lost to the bad habits and abuse. I am impressed with her and if you touch my Denise Williams records I will cut you. And then wreck shop!
We don't need Drake to remix a DENIECE WILLIAMS song, please leave perfection alone.
You don't think it would bring more attention to all of the great Deniece Williams songs? 🤔
@@JuniorLLedo For me, being an Old Schooler who grew up with her music (The late 60s through early 80s is my life's soundtrack, and I'm a music lover of any great music, especially MUSICIANSHIP! ..Not a big fan of electronic slice dice & remix. Artists doing it with THEIR OWN songs is different. I love the remix of GRACE JONES' "SLAVE TO THE RHYTHM" by the sound engineers who created the original.) and all great artists of that era. I don't have a problem with COVERS (like WHITNEY HOUSTON covering DOLLY PARTON'S "I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU", or NUYORICAN SOUL covering ROTERY CONNECTION'S "I AM THE BLACK GOLD OF THE SUN", or SWING OUT SISTER covering BARBARA ACKLIN'S "AM I THE SAME GIRL", where artists and musicians pay respect to the original, like all the covers of CHAKA KHAN'S "I'M EVERY WOMAN" also covered by WHITNEY HOUSTON, they all honor CHAKA KHAN by not changing it. The cover artists don't try to sing or sound like the original, they sing in their own style, like LUTHER VANDROSS always did, but they never change the song.) But I hate, just my opinion, when anyone who claims to be an artist ruins an original masterpiece just to add to their portfolio by exploiting the hard work of others. And the new LISTENERS are robbed from just appreciating the original SINGERS & MUSICIANS, THE CREATORS, and their original songs. Sampling is enough. Remixes of someone else's work, again just my opinion as an old school music lover, is sacrilegious to THE ART.. unless the original artists agree to it, and share the financial rewards. True artists are a community who respect each other's work. I won't even listen to anyone trying to remix a PRINCE or EARTH WIND & FIRE or STEVIE WONDER or ANGELA WINBUSH or ANGELA BOFILL or ISLEY BROTHERS or BROTHERS JOHNSON or OHIO PLAYERS or JIMI HENDRX or LOOSE ENDS or SLAVE/AURRA or CHANGE or HEATWAVE or MTUME or MILES DAVIS or HERBIE HANCOCK or CURTIS MAYFIELD or THE O JAYS or SKYY or THE GAP BAND or CAMEO or ARETHA FRANKLIN or GLADYS KNIGHT or BARRY WHITE song. Leave VINTAGE music alone so it appreciates as is, unless the original artists say different.. in my humble opinion.
Silly has GOT to be my FAVORITE song by Deniece Williams! The song is SO clever and has SUCH meaning! Silly and Bonnie Raitt's song I can't make U love me are on the SAME level! Simply a great song! 😀👍🏾
Have you ever seen her perform live?
@@JuniorLLedo No. Never had the pleasure of hearing her live.
My favorite female singer of all time. Beautiful voice.

She's a beautiful woman.
Deneice is a goddess. Her body of work is great. ❤

Even though I was born in 1970; However, even as a young person I was into my dad's music in the early 80's. I would always pull out his albums and Cassette Tapes and listen to them. My favorites and the ones that held my attention was Patrice Rushen, Sister Sledge, The Jones Girls, Stephanie Mills, Angela Winbush, Cheyl Lynn and Deneice Williams. I had a young boy crush on Ms. Deniece Williams, Toni Sledge and Patrice Rushen. My Favorite Songs was Black Butterfly, Free, It's Going To Take A Miracle, Never Say Never and Do What You Feel.
This is one of the best memories of Deniece Williams I've heard. Thanks for sharing that. 🙏🏽
You grew up on the good stuff! I'm a 1979 baby and I love the same kind of music!
What an interesting interview! Although she did a featured vocal on Every Time He Comes Around on Minnie's breakthrough album, Perfect Angel, I'd never heard her mention Minnie before. Hearing the two of them sing together is haunting. The Nancy Wilson, Sarah Vaughan, Frankie Crocker tidbits and other stories were brand new information for me.
Had to Pin this comment. Thank you
Thanks for mentioning about Niecy and Minnie singing together, gonna check that out : ) I bought Minnie’s final album, she does a great version of ‘Light My Fire’ along with José Feliciano.

She will love this comment. Thank you for your support.
Just getting into the interview and I IMMEDIATELY noticed that "Guilty" album! That album is perfection! Barbra and Barry were in their bag.
LOVE Deneice Williams & so happy to see her. She was a huge part of my Gen X life. Though we all know & love her colossal hits, her lesser known song "Water Under the Bridge" hit me incredibly hard. Love & perennial blessings to our forever National Treasure.
Why did that song hit you hard? I would love to know.
She looks amazing. 😍
Absolutely
I Love Deniece Williams, Grew up on Her Music in The 80's, Silly Was one of My Favorites. Her Voice is So Beautiful, I'm Glad She Got That Vocal Scat From Her MoM. 7x💯🤎

😆 🤣 Stop bro
She has one of the most beautiful voices of all-time. she does not get enuff respect.
This is true. She's a legend.
My favorite female singer of all time! Love Neicy! I had the honor and pleasure of speaking with her on the phone in 1984. She did a radio interview with a DJ in my city, and I called in and actually got through! LOL. I was so elated! lol. Saw her in concert twice. Once with Jeffrey Osborne back in 1982. I couldn't believe my two favorite singers were on tour together! I was in heaven! LOL. Amazing concert! And they had the nerve to sing together too! They did Too much, too little, too late together! Wow! What a memory! Thanks for this interview bro'! Made my day! 😊
Deniece Williams is in my opinion the best singer of her generation and in my top five starting lineup of best female singers of the 20th century.
21st century divas should thank God she’s not coming as hard now as she did in the 70s and 80s. If she did, most of today’s vocal VIPs would still be waiting at the bar for a table, let alone receiving the display table treatment they’re now getting.
I absolutely agree. She's a true legend! Thank you
I stll have all her albums. Black Butterfly and Silly are my favorites. I love her duet with Johnnie Mathis.

I didn’t know Black Butterfly was her song. I love that song. I recently saw a video of Deniece Williams performing on Soul Train that was recorded in 1976. It was amazing.
I watched the same performance. I think her performance was lip singing because Don Cornelius wanted songs to sound exactly like the records.
I would love to see a Drake and Denise duo. This interview is absolutely awe-amazing. I mean her history and energy is pure magick. I love the part where she made in known that Gary Indiana is known for Denice Williams not just Michael Jackson lol. Phenomenal Interview.
