    Deniece- you are a true legend- (up there with Stevie W.) I have listened to you since the 70s and been astounded with your musicality. Your voice should be used throughout the World of Colleges and Universities as a reference to let future vocalists hear what can be done with the human voice. Unforgettable, and I will always love you. Thank you for your major contribution to Pop/Jazz music.

    She is the reason I sing professionally today. I saw her at Michigan State and her entrance wearing the backdrop of her album, impressed my 14 year old sensibility! That was the day I sat with the Emotions on the sidelines and they spoke into my vocal music career. I never looked back. To this day, Free is my most requested 🎵. I am currently struggling with the secular vs. Spiritual issue.

    See, Ms. Williams has been singing for decades and she's never made an excuse. Live and on the spot too. There's an album cut on Ms. Minnie Riperton's _Perfect Angel_ LP entitled _Every Time He Comes Around_ and...WHEW! Ms. Williams to' them backgrounds up. It's not easy singing in that register, but she did it effortlessly and gracefully. That's my favorite part of the 70's. I just love the fiery instrumentation, gorgeous songwriting, etcetera. You had to be able to sing flat down. There were no excuses. You just sing. Good luck w/ the new record, Ms. Williams. Great interview, family.

    • @eddiejones5702
      @eddiejones5702 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, the backgrounds vocals on Minnie's Every time he comes around are amazing! Neicy just effortlessly sings those notes! And, the thing is, Stevie's production on that song. The fact that he told Neicy to just do this....! LOL.. And it worked! I love that song. Only Neicy could have done those vocals like that! {other than Minnie herself!} LOL... Love it!

    Hi Deniece, I am a record collector from way back in the 80s. When I grew up, people could really sang and play music and here’s my favorite albums of yours. As Good As It Gets, and Special Love, and I’m waiting for your new album to come out too. Also, the record I heard on Walt Baby Love’s Countdown that I loved is Never Say Never. At an award show, the only thang, that made me stop screaming at the TV set was when you and Monica came on and did Silly. These kids now, needs to go back to square one, play instruments, and learn how to sing all over again. And, they don’t know that when we had our music on a record and cassette player, it was better. Artists took more time with their music, and put more love, and we said I love you more. And, the reason I love Funk and R and B so much, is the music is way more connected to God. I believe in Him differently, because I’m not the one in Church every day. But I honestly believe, that way things are the way they are now, is that we have really gottin away from God and Love, and we need to go back, and, music is suppose to say I love you and sooth the savage beast and bring people together. Now, my parents couldn’t stand our music, we didn’t care much for theirs, until I grew up and really started thinking back. There’s a difference now, what’s goin on on the popular iz not music! Even that Country music I can not stand, that’s music. This stuff goin on now, is electrified, computerized music. Boody, Gangsta, and angry, and murder and all that, is what I heard on mainstream, so I quit listening. I listen to Underground music now. I thought in 1994, that we lived through the last good era of music, the 70s and 80s, I am so thrilled to find out I was wrong! There are beautiful Oldskool artists, and Newskool artists now doin their thang. It;s just that they don’t get promoted because the BigWigs wanna make moneymoneymoney. Also, I think, they’re on a destruction mission. The kids are growing up in broken homes, and they think that this popularized music now, is what’s in. “We don’t wanna sound like our parents, we want what’s happen’n now!” I get it, we wanted our own identity too as kids. There’s a problem, this is not music, and, it’s hateful also. Every generations back, we all had music with lyrics, melody, fire and passion, love, and we had our own music. These children need to look on the big internet and find loving music that belongs to them in this generation, and listen back to our music. These are living breathing people who said I love you and tell their loving story through their music. Some artists goin on now besides you who I love are: Diamond Ortiz, Damfunk, Cool Million, Lori Genaire, Moniquea, Adrian Younge who does his music from Analog scratch and has worked with Roy Ayers, The Delfonics, and Jean Carne, please check these artists out. And, there’s an October London who sounds like Marvin Gaye and he is not a coppycat. Deniece, much much love and keep going with the music, we need it to help spread love, and calm some of this sheeeeeeeet down! I don’t know why either parents, uncles, or somebody, did not pass down our beautiful music to our children, but we must start doing that. And, get together with eachother at the dinner table and talk instead of always, always, always, chasing the money money money.

    Here's my thing Deniece, why don't these kids know anything about real R and B? I grew up with 92.5 and KJLK and have collected and loved music for 30pluss years and whenever I hear these award shows now, I'm screaming at the TV set. They think these people got it goin on, but what about you, Alexander O'Neal and Cherrelle, Siedah Garrett, Renee Diggs from Starpoint, Omar Chandler, El Debarge, Minnie Riperton, Keara and Shanice Wilson, Guy, Keith Sweat who use to be able to sang, Taja Sevelle, Gavin Christopher, Freddy Jackson, Luther Vandros, Melba Moore, Lillo Thomas, so many singers who didn't get their do and now you got these people goin on who sound like kids who sing regular and they think they're talented. Either that or, they can really play, but the vocals are not that good. And, the bigwigs hire them as talent and promote them because they want all the money and the public is so easily fooled. You did great with Monica Deniece, it's the only thing that day that stopped me from screaming at the TV set and I enjoyed that song. I can't wait for your new Gemini album to come out. Here's who's out now who I love and who you just might like if you check them out on Itunes. Damfunk, XL Middleton, Terry Dexter who sounds like Funk but she does House Music and I love her, Adrian Younge who is a beautiful Analog Music producer and did The Delfonics newer album and Roy Ayers new album Sunflower, Lori Jenaire who sounds a little like Phylis Hyman, Shafiq Husayn who's Funk music, Taja Sevelle's newer music, Teena Marie's newer music before she passed, Moniquea, Cool Million who does music like what I grew up with Funk/Disco, Glenn Jones, Helen Bruner and Terry Jones, Eric Roberson, Lalah Hathaway, Aaron Abernathy, Rechelle Ferell, and so many others. The problem is, the real artists are hiding under the covers of Itunes and CDBaby because they don't get promoted and you have all these cookie cutters being promoted instead. Me, if I tried to tell these kids, I know I lot of them would tell me to get outahere. They're hipnotized by what they see and who they see on TV rather than the real stuff. Much love Deniece. Oh also, Bootsy Collins newer music and his bran new album comming out on the 23 of this month called The Power Of The One.

This all started for me with cassettes, records, and radio which we don't have anymore, and, the real music is not over either. I just wonder who else is listening besides me because I feel like I'm grooven alone. Much love.

    Nothing interesting to her voice after checking her videos. Compared to Mariah, Mariah’s voice is extraordinary. ‘It Can level her voice to celine, whitney, toni, aretha, patti labelle.
    I dunno if she really have the guts to give advice to mariah’s voice because mariah’s songs were so demanding in vocal belting, extreme range, vocal weight and melisma in combine.

      Zheian Jean Paz She does have the " guts" to give advice to Mariah Carey. She's been singing since she was 3 years old.. way before Mariah was born. She was giving advice to tell her preserve her beautiful voice. She loves Mariah and her music. That's no being petty or messy. That's BW singers giving love and support. If you take that as a offence , then you have a personal issue about DW.For whatever reason. All the singers you mentioned have respect for each other's work. Chante Moore is another singer who doesn't get the recognition either. DW voice has changed because of age so she's working with what she has. Thankfully.🤎🦋🌷💕🌸🌺💐🌺
