    For anyone feeling rushed or that they can only get tattooed in their 20's, my dad and I got our first tattoos at the same time, he was 56. He now has 2 sleeves and got his hand tattooed last month. He's 60 now and has big tattoo plans for the future!

      Omg I love this! So much can change from your 20s to 30s to 40s and beyond. By 56 your dad has a solid idea of what his tastes are, his preferences and goals. Great for him!

      Sweet. Until this year, I had only four tattoos and the most recent was 20 years old. Now, at 49, I've started the journey of getting patchwork sleeves. There's no rush, but I do kind of wish I'd started into it again a little earlier when my skin was a little more elastic. My skin still takes ink fine at the moment, though.

    Thanks for this vid, Quack! Getting a tattoo removed doesn’t invalidate your advice on tattoos. It makes it more real IMO since a lot of people have tattoos that they wish were better or not there at all. You’re our TTT queen and we love ya.

    I love hearing about your journey! I constantly feel tattoo fever because of my Instagram feed. I also constantly see those who are younger than me who have wayyy more tattoos and that makes me feel behind on the game. But for what? For who? Proud of you. Get a tattoo when you actually want one. I literally have none, so obviously I don't care that you have slowed down on getting tattoos. I noticed obviously that you were suddenly getting quite a few tattoos in the span of a year or so and then not a lot after. I did assume you slowed down to be more thoughtful about it.

    Covid helped me slow down and evaluate the frequency with which I got tattooed. I also have a more limited income than in years past. I haven’t been tattooed in two years and am eager to get more, but I’m willing to wait for the right idea and artist now.

    Honestly, thank you for this video. It's because of your channel and Tattoo Talk Tuesday that I've slowed down my own tattooing process, despite judgement from the majority of my friend group. I'm making big tattoo plans [mainly full sleeves] and it's nice to hear it from you that slowing down is okay!

  • @414pseudo8
    @414pseudo8 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I waited 9 years from my first tattoo to my second tattoo. Even though I wanted to be a heavily tattooed person stuff like Ink Masters and tattoo nightmares really scared me and taught me to research artist and wait till I'm ready to get something done. Your chanel also helped. It's a bummer to hear the regrets you have over your tattoo journey but it's cool to hear you have so much planned out now. May both of us continue to get amazing work done we can enjoy for the rest of our lives

    I've been following you for a long time, my guess would be 2015 or 2016! Yours was one of the first youtube channels I followed consistently, I think. I don't even have tattoos myself, but I have always enjoyed watching for your personality and the spirit you bring to your content, whatever the topic. I'm glad to hear you are taking the time to plan your tattoo journey in a deliberate way that feels good for you. Having an online presence must create a lot of pressure, and learning to take care of yourself and your boundaries in face of that is very important!

  • @kaylakthulhu8623
    @kaylakthulhu8623 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Honestly dude, I knew that you've slowed down in tattoo videos exactly because of what you're saying in this video! We've seen you working on completing and healing your back piece, as well as your new tattoo removal! Removing a tattoo takes a lot out of someone! I would say that your removal is taking as many appointments and cash as when you were focusing on tattoos. You're cool, dude.
    I started getting tattooed around when I started watching your videos! I was more interested in piercings then, but I've always wanted to be tattooed♡♡

Especially now that you’re slowing down and when you say you don’t have to get all your tattoos in your 20’s 😫 I’ve been feeling a lot of pressure by social media & friends & it’s so hard to push back but like you I have had REGRET and that is not the plan or the vibe for the future

    I started watching your videos back in 2016 for the tattoo content, stayed long term for your personality :) your videos are all very comforting to me no matter what the content is it always feels like talking on the phone with an old friend. Your tattoo content had a heavy influence on the way I choose to collect tattoos of my own and I feel much more educated than I would have been if I never found your channel. These videos are all still up on your channel for others to find so don't feel bad for not still producing content like that, your audience grows with you and I'm sure many of us don't mind. I completely understand and respect your decision. I don't think I fully comprehended all of the feelings involved in tattoo regret until it happened to me. I always viewed my tattoos as a positive, like self elevation. Then when I had one I didn't feel good about, it became an emotional landmine on my body. I didn't like seeing it on myself and avoided others seeing it at all costs... it became kind of a self inflicted burden. Definitely shifted my perspective on how I plan pieces and choose artists, so much more methodical than I used to be.

  • @mossymindful
    @mossymindful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    im 23 and sometimes i do get stressed that I'm "running out of time" to get the tattoos I want. But the truth of it is, if I still want the same tattoos in 5 years that's a way better omen for how ill feel about them further down the line :) trying not to feel too bad about being broke. I'm getting to the point where I actually save money instead of dropping 1000 on a tattoo at my first opportunity. Seeing my account and knowing I can weather a decently-sized disaster is worth it versus being impulsive

      I felt the same in my 20s bc I wanted to "live" and do whatever financially before it was tied up in morgages and babies ect. lol but that's my life plan it's not everyone's. Now in my 30s with my first child on the way and hella more bills, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to get anymore so kinda low key glad it worked that way.

    I completely agree with you slowing down and being more deliberate with your tattoos. I've been fixing the ones I hate, and it's hard to not move on to new ideas before dealing with the ones that make my heart heavy to look at. The first video I found of yours was your stick n poke video, and that had only been out for about a month. I've been following ever since. It's interesting, because while I haven't been trying things because you've necessarily inspired me, I've noticed we have been growing and exploring similar interests together over the years. I also went to beauty school (I think you graduated a few months after me), and then left the industry. I've started sewing about a year ago. I picked up anime/manga again after a decade long break. I think as we get older, we come back to who we were when we were young. It's not a rush to reclaim our youth, but an appreciation for what we now know is our foundation. We've tried being who people want us to be, but we understand it doesn't fulfill us. I'm always excited to see what you've posted, and I'm looking forward to whatever you do next--I know it'll be fire.

    I love how you brought up the rushing thing or the ‘getting tattooed to get tattooed’. I definitely have done that and unfortunately 3 times cheated on my artist. The coming to terms with a piece you don’t live for is tough. As a tattooed person I am extremely grateful for this for providing a space for people to discuss this. I feel like my being not in love with a piece is often condemned…so I don’t talk about it. Anyways yep 💛

I now have two tattoos, and watching you thrift and change up your style gave me the courage to explore my own styles as well. I fully support your journey, tattoo or otherwise, and love seeing you do what is best for you.

    I missed tattoo talk Tuesday!! Loved this week's topic. I'm glad you're prioritizing yourself in this journey and its definitely a good example and good advice on how to go about getting tattooed long term. Esp since I struggle with that idea of "getting tattoed in my 20s" bah.
    I've been following your tattoo content since 2017? And you've helped me so much in navigating the world of tattoos and developing my own voice about the topic.
    Ty ty ty and good luck with your tattoo journey!

    I'm so excited for you in this more paced out tattoo season, it brings a sweet anticipation and peace to your deliberations about how you care for your body!
    I love your content and have been watching I think since 2016? Or 2017, something like that 🤔

    I’ve been here since 2018, before getting my first tattoo, I decided to go the traditional route because of your videos and many tattoos later I couldn’t be happier about my decision. I’ve forwarded your videos to every friend that wanted to start getting tattooed and I’ve used your tattoo healing routine for every tattoo I’ve gotten and I always get so many compliments on how well taken care of my tattoos are. So I just wanted to say that I’m really thankful for all the time you’ve put into this channel and that whatever route you go in I’ll always be grateful to you ❤️

    I totally understand that. I have much less space on my body now and it's so much harder to choose a design I want. I keep going over ideas and placement until I ultimately decide that's what would make more sense and then get it.

    I have followed you for a long time, since ca 2014-2015. You inspired me and helped me make better decisions when getting my first tattoos and for that I’m super thankful. Anything you do now is just a bonus, I just like listening to you talk, because most of the time is very thought through and relaxed. I kept on following not only because you seem to love tattoos as much as me but also because I like and respect you as a person ☺️

    I feel like I was getting tattoos just to get tattoos because I was seeing friends my age getting so many so often. I ended up with 4 Friday the 13th tattoos that although I don’t hate, I don’t love. I didn’t even realize I was doing that, just because friends were going. Until this video I didn’t even think about it.

    I've been watching your content since around 2015 when I became really interested in tattoos and body mods as a baby teen, watching your videos when I had the "get everything tattooed before 30" attitude and you helped me slow down and think about what I want in a tattoo experience! I'm so super grateful because currently I have no tattoos, and I may never get one, but if I do I know it'll be the right one at the right time. Also, I really enjoy your recent content and streams, I think it suits you really well. Always on your side Quick!

    I think I've been subscribed for about 2 years? Initially found the channel's tattoo content but wound up subscribing after watching a couple of videos like this one where you speak candidly about what's important to you. Love that you put such an emphasis on being thoughtful and considerate of yourself and others throughout so many of your videos.

    I've been watching you for like 3 years now and I came here for the tattoo content because I was thinking about starting my own tattoo journey and I needed some education (non of my friends were tattooed at that moment). You definitely helped me a ton with choosing tattoo artists and tattoo concepts/designs so I cannot thank you enough🙌
    I stayed for your new content and twitch streams because of you and your interests and personality, I'm not going away that's for sure ♥️

I started watching you when I had not even one tattoo and now I’m booked for a leg sleeve lol 😆 your videos where you express your views as a tattooed woman help me so much

    Thank you for sharing and being clear on your boundaries! I've always admired that about you and its helped me feel comfortable being slow and deliberate in my own tattoo journey. Since you asked, I've been following along on your journey for maybe 6 years and I love and appreciate all the aspects of yourself that you've shared with us. It helped me realize that being a tattooed punk doesn't have to look just the one way 💕

    I love this. As someone who gotten tattoos so slowly I sometimes feel like i'm doing things wrong bc I see so many people younger with more tattoos, I just feel like getting them slower and with more financial thought makes them more special for me. also bc the only tattoo i've gotten rushed is my ugliest one lmao

    i started watching your channel after i got my first tattoo when i turned 18 in 2017, it's a fairly large tattoo of three birds on my forearm and although i don't regret that tattoo at all i really do regret getting it the way that i did and really wish i had waited and found an artist i liked and felt comfortable telling the artist no when it's literally something permanently on my body. i really respect you and respect this video. it's lovely to see you here and i'm excited to see whatever you share with us in the future

    Thank you so much for talking openly about this! Ever since i was in my teens i wanted to become a somewhat heavily tattooed person. i'm 25 now and this is still my goal but i haven't gotten a single tattoo in the past 7 years when i would have been able to. i have a whole list of tattoos i've been wanting for years now, but i haven't found any artists in my country yet that i'm 100 % in love with and i simply don't have the budget to travel to other countries for the artists that i love. sometimes i think to myself that i souldn't be so "obsessed" with finding the perfect artists or shouldn't have such high standards and just get started already.. but your experience with rushing tattoos just really reassured me that i'm doing the right thing and that there is no actual need for me be to be tattooed in my early twenties even though the many young and tattooed people around me sometimes make it feel like it.
