Some of the support weapons need to hit the bot drops at different spots to take them down. The recoilless does it easily but it’s best to aim at the center of the ship to kill the bots inside too. The expendables need to be aimed at the thrusters to take it down. It’s kinda neat! Anyone else notice stuff like that?
I've mained the arc thrower since HD1 and let me tell you, nothing is better for crowd control. Being able to just look in a general direction without aiming and probably hitting 3-4 enemies at a time is a blessing. Combine that with the ability to stun chargers, hulks, and striders and youve got a great weapon. The only big downside is the lack of killing ability against titans and factory striders, but that's what orbitals and 500kg are for anyway. Oh and we don't talk about gunships.
Arc thrower becomes exponentially better in a coordinated team, having *infinite stun* for your squad to just flat out not let the enemies fight is pretty solid
Airburst rocket launcher can deal with heavies as long as you can get the explosions to impact their weak points. It requires some practice and can be inconsistent, but it does work. Hulks, chargers, and impalers are not definitely not immune to it. Factory striders and bile titans, yeah probably forget them.
FYI: If you unlock the T5 upgrade for the Patriotic Admin Center, the Recoilless Rifle will get a significant solo reload buff, making it even better. ^^
Ah yes, the LAS-98 Laser Cannon. Truly my favourite support weapon. Pair that with a SH-32 Shield Generator Pack and you’re going to feel like a total badass
The Expendable Anti-Tank makes for a good backup for lighter support weapons. Unlike the Orbital Precision Strike, you don't have to rely on a timer to hit your probably-moving-quite-a-lot targets.
The jump pack lets you jump, but it's so much more than that. You can get out of sticky situations, reposition at high ground to cover your teammates, get into places without being seen, jump on top of enemy units for a cool youtube short....
Air burst can actually one shot hulks if you land a shot right behind them (by shooting through their legs), the clusters go up and hit the back weakpoint, which is enough to kill the hulk if you land your shot right Same goes for chargers and implaers, hit the ground underneath them and the clusters will deal quite a bit of damage to their undersides
Jetpack and quasar is a no brainer, highly mobile and no need to reload or run out of ammo, will it one shot everything no but you can reposition yourself for a second shot from safety
The arc-thrower is not ment to be a stand alone kill weapon, it's ment to be a offensive support weapon with True unlimited ammo. It can easily kill anything from a trooper to a devestator but is mostly great for locking down and suppressing bigger targets like hulks or chargers giving squadmats breathing room and time to bring out or reload their kill weapons against said target.
can't believe you skimmed right over the jump pack 💔it absolutely requires a major change in playstyle to get the most out of it but never getting pinned down and having new routes to every objective is really useful once you learn how to use it

Bring backpack and precision orb/thern to take care of heavies too

The unweildly nature of the HMG can mostly be fixed by equipping the viper commandos armor.
