@@RimRim-Enthusiast Gatling needs heavier pen if it wants to keep up. I love minigun turrets, but the fact that it just wastes bullets and the fact it is active for a fraction of the time the MG is active just makes it feel like a waste
@@RimRim-Enthusiast They have the exact same turnspeed (96°/s without the module 160°/s with it) and the gatling has ~2,4 times the DPS with ~2,9 times the ammo. They're literally perfectly balanced in every way.
The real HMG gamechanger moment for me was when I realized it stays there until it runs out of ammo, even if you call another one in. Defense mission? Call it on cooldown. Passing by the extract? Toss one in for later.
The different autocannons in the game actually all have different increasingly large calibers with the smallest being the handhelds 20mm APHET, the second being the Emancipators 30mm APHET and the very largest being the autocannon sentrys 40mm APHET. Damage and in-game model size scale exactly as you'd expect. The gatling and MG sentries share their caliber (Rifle 8x60mm Full Metal Jacket) with the MG-43 and the Patriot exosuits gatling gun. This means they ALL HAVE MEDIUM PEN, deal the exact same damage, have the same stagger, etc. The HMG emplacement and its handheld counterpart surprisingly don't share the same caliber, despite using the same size bullets. The HMG emplacement uses Rifle 12.5x100mm Full Metal Jacket which has higher damage and a slightly lower velocity than the regular HMGs Rifle 12.5x100mm BCHP.
An important thing to note about the shield generator as well: CALL IT DOWN LAST. Called-down drop pods will damage the shield tremendously. A lot of people call the shield down first and then supplies and a bunch of other call ins which is why it seems like the shield has a low hp, when in reality people chunk its health right out the gate.
I love the mg sentry when “stealthing” against bugs. If I’m ever getting chased by too many bugs or big bugs, I throw one to my right or left and it distracts all or most of them giving me time to either fight a smaller force or to run away.
I've actually noticed the autocannon sentry shoot down dropships, it apparently has a higher armor pen then the man-portable autocannon according to the wiki, and that higher pen is just enough to bring one down with sustained fire
I run shield relay on 10s all the time, being able to toss a shield and advance to cover, or give your teammates time to take out a heavy under fire is exceptionally useful. It also only has a minuteish cooldown, and lasts 40secs, so you insane uptime
I love the mg sentry because it has a whole minute less for the cooldown time. If you bring multiple sentries, having that means one of them should always be ready when you need it.
The shield generator also needs to be set up very carefully. If you put it down and you or your teammates take it as an opportunity to resupply or call down support weapons, the hellpods themselves deal damage to the shield and can leave you and your team sitting ducks. :p
I'm a big fan of the MG turret and Mortar turret. Simple and effective. Just gotta be careful about placement. Oftentimes, however, I'll leave an MG turret when I'm leaving an area just so it can keep patrols and bug breaches busy. Like that one guy you know from high school for when the cops show up to the bar at 1:30 in the morning looking for drunk drivers, you can zip away while they run interference.
There is actually something to be said for the mortars ability to just be dropped outside of an enemy base to besiege it. I would probably say to only use one of them unless you're playing in a premade group tho. You CAN do 2 mortars, support weapon of choice and then something like Orbital Precision Strike or 500kg eagle but that's pretty limited overall unless your team is able to coordinate and communicate well.
Gonna hard disagree on not bringing the shield geny over diff 8, did a diff 10 bot eradication the other day and while it lasted at most 30 seconds, that time really counted when taking fire from every single direction. It's situational, for sure, and probably shouldn't come for most missions but when running defense or eradication it can make all the difference.
Depends on the loadout and mission but I usually run the Gatling instead just because I can place it down when rotating out of an area and if any patrols come up that way I will know and the Gatling will have deleted a good chunk of them before I even realize.
@@ulpurt7612 Nope, they actually have an even further range of 125 meters. The only sentries with a 75m range are the gatling, the MG and the autocannon sentry.

Gatling and MG sentries actually use the same med pen ammo
They use the exact same ammo as the MG-43 and the Patriot gatling, meaning they all have the same damage, AP, velocity, etc.
Because of that I only use MG sentry only

So that means that, since the manned autocannon is ap4 (heavy armor penetrating), that means the sentry autocannon is ap5 (lowest anti-tank).

Bro, you can detrack the automaton tanks?!
This is news to me.
Hear me out, a Gatling sentry HMG emplacement that doesn’t have as high penetration as the regular one but fires just like the Gatling sentry.

Fun fact about the rocket sentry. It's the only sentry to have an extended engagement range of 100m. All other sentries have arang of 75m.
