- A simple video that explains downloading and setting up your own Paper server for 1.20 and above. I show 1.20 in this video, but it applies to every recent version and even future ones! By the end, you will have a working multiplayer server that you and your friends can play on for free! Yes, this video uses BuildTools, but it's the only official way to get these. Jars from any other sources may work but may hide some nasty code.

i followed your steps.. and my minecraft still can't connect to the server?
For Mac, the filename will be 'start.command,' though I like mine to be 'run.command.'
Then the code will be:

exec java -Xms2G -Xmx4G -jar paper-1.20-5.jar nogui
replace "paper-1.20-5.jar" with whatever yours is, depends on what build you download in the future. "Xms" is minimum ram, while "Xmx" is maximum; 2G and 4G refer to the amount of ram you want the server to allocate, adjust accordingly.

Hey! Just an update, I dunno from what version but you dont need the start.bat file anymore, you litterally just click the paper.jar file and it should make all the same things. I believe this is true, but if I'm wrong, tell me.
it says i cant open it because i need java 17 but i already have it :D
So i got my server to start and run with no problems but i cant find the address of the server and its confusing for me if anyone could help that would be great.

xbox is a different version to java they cant crossover it like two completely different games

You are running 32-bit Java, or a 32-bit computer. Both of these need to be 64-bit.

change the " paper-1.20.2-297.jar to excatly the name of your server jar file
for insitance is your server.jar files is named paper-1.20.3-289.jar you will need

Yes, you just need to go into the server properties file and set online-mode to false in there

anyone that wants a good experience should use fabric cuz it runs better and paper breaks every farm so just use a fabric server its ez and less laggy and most importantly more of a vanilla experience

if you want to add stuff in the text document you have to right click the .bat and click edit. then you write all the stuff there shown in the video and click save and close it.

make sure you have java 17, not java 8 installed, and make sure its the 65 bit version

Just use essentials it's so much easier it makes it so you can host your world and you don't have to give people your IP address
