Hello, TroubleChute. I know i'm a bit late but i've been encountering issues, i had earlier tried to post forward, but it seems that i messed something up. I can't connect to my server and got an issue saying "connection refused" i asked one of my friends to join and he said that it was "connection timed out" Before i messed something up, pre postforwarding, i was able to join my server from both 127.0.01 and localhost, yet now whenever i try either of these i get the connection refused issue. I have followed all the steps in this video, yet i still get the same issue. I wanted to know if anyone could help me or is familiar with this issue. Thanks

I have a couple of questions on issues I'm having though. 1 - In my ipconfig, my IPv4 address does not match what every search on all the sites comes up with. 2 - Also, my Link Local IPv6 address is a long number starting with fe80:: (eg, it's not all numbers) and every website I go to says it's "not detected". Will that address work? I have read that some providers are taking their time getting to IPv6. But I have also seen people, running minecraft servers for many years using IPv6. Or can you share a server without IPv6? 3 - If I get all this to work, do I need to allow port-forwarding on both my Ethernet modem and the WiFi plugged into it that I use, or does it all have to be Ethernet? I'd appreciate any input; I've really been wanting to do this for years and I have my server created and ready to share!

Check your router's GUI again. Maybe you have to enable port forwarding as well? My first time I couldn't join despite having entered all the ports and stuff. I just had to enable port forwarding to have it work.

go to your start menu and enter cmd, this will take you to a command prompt window. type ipconfig and enter. this will show you your ip, you wanna take note of the IPv4. then use that info and follow along the video

You would go to your router settings, so it is your external ip(you can use IP chicken to find your IP) and put in the url of "https//:" +your IP. Then Log in to your router(usually on the router) and you'll probably what he is doing there
You will need to go to your routers website and log in there You can find it by following the steps at 4:49, the ip is listed under "Default Gateway", just paste those numbers into a browser and log in

I'm mad as fuck, the thing is I port forwarded a regular non modded server a few months ago, and I deleted it, here I am watching the same video to help with port forwarding on black ops 2, I have tried all common ports I knew of that would work, I have gotten "connection refused" "connection timed out" and "no route to host" I have literally tried everything I knew, but I removed the previous minecraft port and I never took a picture of it, altho it kind of stopped working on it's own, I use usb tethering from my phone and sometimes I use my phone wifi, I learned that it has to be something like "192.168.0" and my wifi ends in 101, my tether ends in a number that doesn't match up with it. I thought it was easy at first but now I can find that the true struggle is making a mistake and you're 100% lost.

I guess ur in CGNAT system. While you are in CGN (Carrier Grade Nat) pool, your ports wont be opened. Ask your ISP for static IP adress. To understand being in CGN pool you should check your modems ip adress then your devices ip adress. If they're different, ur in CGNAT.

Ok I have spent almost 2 days on this and still have not had any luck. I have double checked anything I could imagine would cause this problem. I have an issue when a friend tries to join they get the typical "io.netty.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information:" basically saying that the server doesn't exist. Is there something I'm missing here?
So for anyone wondering, it's an issue with a firewall blocking ping requests, been researching for days and I'm about ready to just disable the firewall fully for the port. I'll message back here if I can find a solution. I am able to recieve a ping via cmnd prompt, but I am unable to ping back for some reason, leading to the "session timed out" error in the prompt. If anyone has any suggestions let me know!

If this is the case I'll let you know what router I ended up getting and/or what I did to get the current one working.

Easy, that's your router access page, what you will do is, Go to desktop, press the windows button and search, "Cmd" press enter, that will open a command terminal, then in that terminal you're going to type "ipconfig" that will give you the list of adresses, and you're going to look for the one that says "Default Gateway" and it should be something like:"Default Gateway: 192.169.1.6" The string of numbers should be different, but just check the format is atleast like that. "***.***.*.*" you will take that string of numbers, copy it, and paste it on your browser, that will lead you to your router access page.

Ok I have spent almost 2 days on this and still have not had any luck. I have double checked anything I could imagine would cause this problem. I have an issue when a friend tries to join they get the typical "io.netty.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information:" basically saying that the server doesn't exist. Is there something I'm missing here?
So for anyone wondering, it's an issue with a firewall blocking ping requests, been researching for days and I'm about ready to just disable the firewall fully for the port. I'll message back here if I can find a solution. I am able to recieve a ping via cmnd prompt, but I am unable to ping back for some reason, leading to the "session timed out" error in the prompt. If anyone has any suggestions let me know!

@@grubhubson5204 not quite yet, I didnt want to repost until I found a solution, its starting to look like an issue with the built-in firewall in my router, still looking to see if I can adjust it, but seen as how it's a spectrum router, it might not let me. If this is the case I'll let you know what router I ended up getting and/or what I did to get the current one working.

Easy, that's your router access page, what you will do is, Go to desktop, press the windows button and search, "Cmd" press enter, that will open a command terminal, then in that terminal you're going to type "ipconfig" that will give you the list of adresses, and you're going to look for the one that says "Default Gateway" and it should be something like:"Default Gateway: 192.169.1.6" The string of numbers should be different, but just check the format is atleast like that. "***.***.*.*" you will take that string of numbers, copy it, and paste it on your browser, that will lead you to your router access page.

@@Invoker298 i tried to do "myipaddress":25565 but it didn't work.
Then i tried using 0 instead of the ip address for the server, it worked only for me
@@stev9801 you can also connect to your server by just typing localhost. Though, the issue remains of others are not able to join. For me though, I am sure it is my ISP being a cock block.
even if I type 25565 in the external port part of the router it literally changes to what he wants.
