I agree with you. All Nissan needed to do was, put up to date new interior technology, harden the soft plastics of the exterior that move too much in the mismo (I mean the red mismo areas), keep it in manual transmission (no crappy paddle shifting), add another model tier, bring it up to 400-415 horsepower, call it 400Z, don’t super inflate the prices, add an optional night package, and add an optional turbo package that provides and additional 50 horsepower. They would done this it would be selling like cocain for a dollar. Nissan is dying because they’re stupid and don’t care to listen to their fan base. Not the minority but the majority that is a huge fan of the 370Z. If they would have done this everyone would be happy.
Yeah man I agree. The new Z seems like a lazy effort, engine from the Q60, redid the exterior and updated the inside with screens. Front end seems the most lazy 😅 but the fact they want to charge 50k for almost the same car is nuts. top it off with markups and delayed production

I feel your close on the 35 to 40 K price for a Pristine 370 Nismo like ours. But I am finding that they are already pretty rare. I have only seen 4 in the last 6 years in our area! I did the same thing, I got a 2018 Nismo white with MT. I don’t like the look of the new Z, the front is a 280z, the back is a 300z, the middle and the interior is a 370z. Also, I can see issues in the new Z with turbos, N.A. is better. I’m very happy with my selection.

@@onsite_natethe only benefit of them shooting up in value is the fact ill never have to fork out that money later on for my dream car. Im never selling.
Sadly cost is going to likely put it out of production. Nissan took a huge risk producing them and the decision to use the 370z chassis was smart too take advantage of the available aftermarket but markups and slow production along with stiff competition it’s looking kinda grim. As far as value the 350z nismo is going to be a nearly 100k car unmodified low mileage examples will be the new grail cars for Z enthusiasts next in line will be the V1 370z nismo but the V2 nismo is the pinnacle of the N.A. cars

I got a 23 Maxima myself because I needed the extra space to haul around family & friends. Picked up one of the last VQ35DE's

10:04 youre wrong. The z is very capable. Of course youll need an oil cooler and maybe differential cooler for tracking, but the Z has dominated in some forms of racing, all around the world. You definitely wanna test its limits if you have the chance. Otherwise, i agree with the pricing and the vehicles on the market. But if youre gonna pay that match from a brand new sports car, you could go 10-15k higher and get a used GTR. Not many people see those kinds of numbers at all when purchasing, the average range will be 30k and below for a nice, used sports car.
At 10:04 I was referring to my 370. I’m calling it a perfect car for me, while anticipating the fact check track rats will correct me saying XYZ is more capable at 35k 👌🏼
nice man, good choice and can’t go wrong with the manual 💪🏼 definitely will hold its value in the long term since being the last manual nismo for now. at least the last NA 6spd nismo
i would also point out the depreciation on the new z versus the 370. most of the 370s have leveled out. but the new one is dropping like crazy, you can pay off 2 older z's for the msrp of a new one
@@onsite_nateim glad theyre having to take those losses now. Thanks for the review and great job. Since you came from a base 370Z, are there any suspensions mods you can recommend for street driving? My budget is $25K so that puts me out of the Nismo range. The new Z is nice, but not worth the dealer mark ups.
Ah man I’m afraid I can’t answer this one, I kept my base Z entirely stock. For street driving I felt it was pretty solid, good balance between GT/sports car. Definitely worth trying out for yourself 👌🏼 maybe able to find some answers on the Z forums. good luck on your search
The new Z also has much less character in its powertrain. When I drove some pre-production cars during power steering tuning exercises, I found myself generally preferring the experience of the 370Z's, mostly due to the naturally aspirated VQ with a higher redline. Especially in 2020 or so, a high revving, large displacement engine was (and still is) far more special than a twin turbo wall of torque.
Agreed, these VQ motors feel like something else. As cliche as it is, seems like last of its kind. Altima drivers really enjoy every part of it also 🙏🏼
I'm new here. 👋 The older nissan Z has always been a favorite of mine. The new Z is cool, but it just doesn't feel right. Like you said, the front square grill doesn't fit and the headlights are small.
welcome man, and thanks for supporting 🙏🏼 fully agree. i wish I loved them more and saw them often. the front just looks like it could use more styling rather than just a box
it's not as bad looking in person, but i agree it's probably the worst part of the exterior design. to me, the rear makes up for it, but i'm a bit of a sucker for nostalgia.
I had the same thought when I got my ‘19 Nismo. I love having an N/A and unsure if I want to boost. Almost full bolt on and I like to keep it looking stock. Updated the screen to give me CarPlay while maintaining the OEM look. And a white Nismo is a perfect flamboyant JDM car. Maybe in 5 year I might consider it, or even go the other way and try to get a 300Z.
it’s nice to see I wasn’t to only one debating these things haha. I gotta ask how you were able to fit CarPlay into the OEM infotainment? Also white was my dream spec for these, shows off all of the nismo accents. Curious too to see if more people get into the new Z platform when prices become more realistic. Thanks for the input 👌🏼
@@onsite_nate Nifty City/Aucar/or whatever brand all sell a similar product. Same company that makes the popular “Tesla” screen. They also make one that updates the Z tech package unit to include car play and turn into a functional computer. I got the HD screen update and it really modernizes the interior. That current screen in the resolution looks like it’s from the early 2000s lol.
im glad i kept my 09 z as a toy since new and had other cars for daily driving. its almost 2025 and i only have 35k on the odo. love the Z but the engine of the new Z is tempting me.
wow that thing is mint! definitely never seen a takeover haha. hopefully my previous Z is being taken care of as well. and yeah small part of me will always be curious on owning the new Z
I’m at the point of my ownership where it would make more sense for me to build the motor vs buying a new car. I’m at 155K on my 2011 (owned since 2013) and it still works fine. it’s survived many hot track days, embarrassed E92s and kept up with 1st gen GT4s. Most of the problems with the car have been permanently fixed by the aftermarket, so that’s a plus. at 50K, it was going to be an Integra Type S or CTR, but i can’t justify spending that much on a car, I actually had a WRX for a while, but i sold it because it was kinda wasteful having a second car with 4 doors and i never used the back seats. It was also pretty unrewarding to drive. So I’m going bikes instead haha.
dang that’s really cool to see you enjoyed the life outta this car and it’s still pushing 💪🏼 these VQs are something else. 50k is the new 35k nowadays it’s so terrible. Hard for me to consider buying new cars as well. I’ve always wanted a bike but my wife is convinced I’d die so we compromised with s2000 haha. Thanks for the feedback man
going to look at a 20k mile 2017 370z nismo looks identical to yours but 6 speed it was the car that i saw in person and made me like cars been my dream car ever since,
Conclusion. I think the matter is still preference. Nissan did a lot of things right with the RZ34. The VR30 has a lot of aftermarket support and can be made into a powerhouse. Lots of people like boosting their VQ to make power and thats a lot of money to spend. Having a boosted motor from the factory helps save a lot of money for those searching for power. They still offer manual and a much better automatic than the one in your Z. Along with that the diff is much better too. Since they also shared lots of parts, you can modify the Z to your taste and make the car perform much better for not a lot of money. Bone stock, the Z could be better. But i also think its a great car that can still a lot of joy to someone who is in the market for such a vehicle.
Agree. All preference. For me personally, spending more than 50k for a sports car that needs modifications to make it right just seems like a stretch. If we’re taking mods into account, the Supra with the B58 makes huge power with a simple tune, auto and the manual are built better, and it doesn’t need an exhaust immediately. Both with similar starting msrp, but you can already see the Supra holding their values extremely well compared to the Zs 5k+ dealer discount. Nonetheless thanks for you’re take! I love talking cars. Welcome to the channel 🙏🏼
It’s an investment at the same time boys!! Hold onto them. Before the new Z came to the market I knew people would hate the aesthetics and the fact that it’s only 50 more hp for a twin turbo…not worth it at all. Too futuristic looking as well. I was right
I have a 2018 370z nismo tech white with the red accent trim.. Automatic I love this car because it's true power it doesn't have a turbo I didn't like the super because it had a BMW motor the new z car turn me off with the twin turbo
best way to go about this is find the best spec at whatever your budget is. If it’s a nismo with 150k miles 6 owners but affordable, idk could be rough 💀 you’ll have more fun on the road than in the garage
I love the new Z but the Z isnt spectacular and I think its more of a nostalgic love for the older Zs. It has the potential to be better with aftermarket but I think you are correct. There are just WAY better platforms at the price it has been presented at. The Z as it stands is just a car for people who just have love for a Z and wouldnt mind paying the price for a sort of refreshed classic look. I personally love the look of the 240z and both Generations of the 300zx. I was never that much a fan of the 350z at the time of the release but over the years its become a classic. Between the 370z and the Z itself, Its a matter of preference but either is worth it as long as it puts a smile on your face when you drive it. I am personally waiting for a Z Performance to show up in the lower 40s around me.
yeah the nostalgic factor is definitely real haha. Imagine if they priced it more competitively and didn't have issues with production, these things would've been everywhere and a modders paradise. One of these days, probably soon, you'll find a Z performance in the 40s. Dealers in Vegas seem to be heavily discounting these haha. Good luck!
I think the new Z looks better than the 370z from every angle except the front, but I'm not sure I would trust that twin turbo engine to last as long as the 3.7L. I kind of wish they would have kept the 3.7 instead of using turbos, but it would have been too underpowered compared to the competition. Personally, I wouldn't buy the new Z used, but I would confidently buy a used 370z.
yeah, front is the most important looking area imo and if they nailed it it would’ve been amazing. Nissan motors seem to be solid, I hope that VR lasts long term and if it does it’ll pop off in the used market surely 💪🏼
I had a 17 nismo, id take it over the new Z tbh. I also had a FBO tuned q60 red sport so i guess it was a good idra of what both cars were & are ( sort of. ) In hindsight i enjoyed them but dont really miss them for the $$. I like my Evo and BRZ loads more as drivers cars per dollar. The nissan and infinitis were cool but way overpriced for what you get and still are unfortunately and have a pretty terrible crowd behind them. Good video though man.
nice man. and yeah I kinda see where you’re coming from. compared to an STI which is a sedan, or an s2k which is way down in power, the Z still felt pretty nose heavy and the manual was only decent. the speed is fun but I like other aspects of driving on most days. nonetheless still my favorite car and I can’t entirely explain why 😅
My opinion is a bit biased but 08 350z with the hr is my fave z car if I'm being honest! It's taken me many years to like the 370z. It has grown on me slowly but surely. I prefer the 370z with the center cubby not really into the sat nav system. Need to get actual drive time experience in a 370z to give an honest overall opinion. There's things I like more about the 350z and things I like more in the 370z.
your opinion is 100% valid, the HR 350z will always be my bucket list car I’d love to have one to just keep in OEM spec. livability wise I just couldn’t handle the heavier clutch with my chicken feet
@onsite_nate I've driven de, hr, and hr nismo. Not to much clutch difference in my opinion. It's mainly the hp and aerodynamics that change between all 3. The hr nismo is the best feels the most planted, the down force inspires confidence, the slight power bump screams at the top end.
I agree 370Z Nismo FTW! I own a Nissan Sentra Nismo 2017 in black bet you did not know they had that lol I plan on collecting Nismo cars. next I get you're car
The Z suffers from having an identity crisis I believe, it can be so many things to so many people, it doesn't really excel at anything too specifically, it is a beautiful car but going beyond that is up to the owner to decide. Its a blank canvas. Its not a performance machine, it doesn't have any gimmicks minus the REV match. It doesn't present the best tech or comfort but what it does do is put a smile on your face when you look at, the steering inputs are fine, the transmission doesn't like to be rushed but it suffices. You can drive the car daily and it is very reliable and affordable. There is plenty of aftermarket to turn your car into what you have invisioned. I say be humble and grateful with what you have or you will never be satisfied. 😅
agree with all of these points, thank you for sharing. always love some good feedback. being happy with what you have, even who you’re with, years onward is definitely one of the best feelings 💪🏼 whereas you keep chasing or expose yourself to too many options, you’ll easily lose interest with what’s in front of you. just like online dating 😂
Yeah but if you financed it, which u probably did. Finance charges or rates are higher on you cars than newer cars so you probably end up paying more in the long run if you think about it.
can’t imagine a 10k+ depreciation hit on a new car being more cost effective than a 4.25% rate through a local credit union 💪🏼 everyone’s situation is different. Ty for the input nonetheless this is still helpful
I have a 2018 370Z Nismo, first of all - I would never have bought an automatic, as in your video: Questions. 1. The previous Nismo is WAYYYYYYY better looking. It has junk in the trunk and looks mean. The new Z looks like a Japanese Frankenstein, it IS ugly, those lego blocks and back end is too narrow. 2. Price. Nissan has put me out of the market for a second Nismo Z car. ESPECIALLY I DO NOT WANT AN AUTOMATIC. Nissan does have much lower cost to maintain than a Porsche. Buyer be aware. 3. Fire the senior engineer that had this nightmare into reality. As for HP, IDK. This is not a muscle car like the Challenger series, it was meant for the track and to turn heads. IMHO
Let’s go!!!🔥🔥🔥🙌🏼

What a beautiful car. I own a 2019 Nissan Z sport model and just love it.
had my sport touring before this and I couldn’t get over it haha. new Z nismo for the 65s? man
I'm new here. 👋
The older nissan Z has always been a favorite of mine.
The New Z slowly grew on me. Im sure aftermarket parts will drop for the New Z. keen to see what they do with the front bumper.
Some heavily modded ones I seen at SEMA really stood out to me, maybe that’s what it needs
Thanks for the feedback man
@@onsite_nate That's a pretty good compromise!
going to look at a 20k mile 2017 370z nismo looks identical to yours but 6 speed it was the car that i saw in person and made me like cars been my dream car ever since,
heck yeah man good luck! hoping that everything checks out when you see it 🙏🏼 let us know how it goes
370z❤💥👍
I was right
I’m low key glad it was a flop for me so that I wouldn’t feel the urge to sell this 370 and get into that 💀 love this thing the way it is
U should get a pedal commander u will love it especially for the at. Makes it a lot more fun. I have roar pedal
dang really? you have it on your Z?
I have a 2018 370z nismo tech white with the red accent trim..
Automatic I love this car because it's true power it doesn't have a turbo I didn't like the super because it had a BMW
motor the new z car turn me off with the twin turbo
nice! don’t let people bully you for it being an auto 😂 personally I believe it brings out most of its naturally aspirated high revving power
I’m torn between getting a nismo or a sport tech I’m only 18 so idk which way I should go abt picking one
best way to go about this is find the best spec at whatever your budget is.
Good luck!
i just bought a 2018 Nismo Tech with 20k miles for 33k, did I do alright?
For sure
heck yeah man. what a steal 💪🏼 auto or manual? Manuals generally cost more
@@onsite_nate it’s an auto because I really wanted a nice daily
I also had a FBO tuned q60 red sport so i guess it was a good idra of what both cars were & are ( sort of. )
In hindsight i enjoyed them but dont really miss them for the $$.
In 2019 I bought a low mileage 370z Sport Tech for $21k. Can't get that performance-to-value today for under $30k
this is what I’m saying 💪🏼 so slept on. but glad to see not all of them are getting beaten to death because of how cheap they got
I agree 370Z Nismo FTW! I own a Nissan Sentra Nismo 2017 in black bet you did not know they had that lol I plan on collecting Nismo cars. next I get you're car
Heck yeah a Sentra Nismo?? never see those around what a unicorn 🙏🏼 nismo collection would be peak, kinda like how people collect old OEM Hondas
Nismo v2 will always be sexy, wish I got the nismo but I got a fismo lol
still a cool car haha, nearly 90% the same 👌🏼
How many cars do you have?
not enough
not enough
I would imagine a near triple the cost for the new one was the ultimate factor.
100%. all comes down to its price. if they came fully loaded at 40k, this video would be pretty hard to make haha
The 370Z is absolutely the better car.
am biased but agreed. new Z car didn’t give me that drive to someday own it, great car nonetheless
Love the 370z nismo,
you should have compared with the New Z Nismo to be more fair comparison
maybe in a future video, but the new Nismo Z is worth nearly 2 of these. can’t imagine anyone cross shopping with that massive gap
I'd take the 370Z nismo too, but would replace the front bumper
red accents aren’t my favorite, been seeing them in sporty trim Hyundais and kias 🤨
I’m getting me a 370 nismo or 400 z nismo soon but my 350z ain’t going no where 🤣
Z collection! hell yeah man can’t wait to see it 💪🏼
I have a 2018 370Z Nismo, first of all - I would never have bought an automatic, as in your video: Questions. IMHO
100% man, not a huge fan of the Frankenstein look 240z/300zx/370z. Nissan is delusional with pricing but at low/mid 40s loaded these would be amazing
Nah, I still preffer the 370z in looks and performance 🤔
And its a port injected NA engine 🤯
same same. maybe in 10 or so years I’ll fall for the new Z
Auto?
PDK
its auto with power shifters on the wheel you can tell by him driving the car on road
At 35k I would pick up a Lexus rc-f
You can find those at sub 60k miles? Heck yeah I should try one of those
@@onsite_nate yea the ones from 2015 and a little later
you should have waited for sure
why’s that?
new sub. good video 🫡
thanks for the support! working on some more interesting topics, hopefully new video soon
Why would you buy an automatic Z lol
because I’m mediocre
Nismo and automatic gearbox???????? Nismo is always with manual.
Had a base manual in these for 5yrs prior to this, I gave up 💀
For 50k I'll get the Zupra
let’s both get one 💪🏼
Auto bruh fr should just got an EV 😭
sometimes i need a break from driving the s2000 and STI, life is hard
Oh schwerd, my b for assuming you dont drive manual loll. Interesting addition tho given you got those cars but enjoy homie
Meh
Heh
