When I saw this movie, there were almost no reactions whatsoever. Everyone was silent for most of the time and the only laughing I heard in the theater was at “IM ZE SPY”

@@porgherder6109 thank you. I loved all of the new Star Wars movies. And I saw all of them in theater. I liked them while watching them. But I never cheered or something like that. Because that's annoying. People payed to be there, so I don't want them to miss a line because I screamed like a child.
And in my theater (in Germany) a lot of people laughed while watching episode 9. Not everyone, but a lot of people.
And that's okay. But I can't stand these overreactions from some people who just scream when something amazing happens.
All my theaters for TFA, TLJ AND TROS were like that. It doesn't mean anything. It is all about the mindset you and other have; the micro gestures and also your own mood. Because how you intepret the environment is also influenced by your maturity level and mood.

@@arbuckle6103 Yeah. Even though my theaters were all quiet during all films, I found the TFA theater experience super exciting and pleasant because I was still young. I found TLJ slightly irritating because now I payed attention to all the retreads and TROS was just akward for its fanservice. It was me who was changing and maturing during those years. Nothing changed about the theater.
Still that one reaction is quite telling... By making TROS the way they did, they did not bring old fans back; they also annoyed the new ones from TFA and TLJ away. Like is there anyway to bring stakes back to Star Wars after the ridiculousness of Episode 9?

I liked the ending.
The reactions I got at the movies for the new trilogy weren’t anything like these. The only one out of the new trilogy where people were having fun was the force awakens. Last Jedi there was some upset fans and the rise of skywalker was just dead silence.

When i saw this movie in theaters, everyone in there was either screaming, sleeping, or too enraged to speak and just sat there in silence when Rey said "Rey Skywalker"
People in my theater were either silent (because that's what you should do in a theater) or they were making happy noises.
In my cinema where I'm from During endgame and ROTS literally no one talked or clapped or cheered or anything. We just watched the movie

The best moment at my theatre when watching the last Jedi was when Fin was about to sacrifice himself and then Rose crashes into him. A lot of audience wasn’t happy and most said Come on.

Before watching the reaction to the resistance’s huge fleet reveal I rewatched the reaction to when everyone walked out of the portals in avengers endgame. Everyone was losing their shit and it made me feel some semblance of what I felt in the theatre the first time I saw it. Then I went to the Star Wars one and was greeted by some warm clapping which also kind of reflected what I felt when seeing that for the first time. The endgame reveal have a bigger impact on me despite the fact that I had way more emotional investment in Star Wars when going into the theatre. I’m not saying that people should scream in the theatre (I didn’t). The fact is that endgame had a better payoff because the stakes and my investment were already sky high going into that scene so it felt like an event like a moment in time whereas I was happy in TROS but it didn’t hit any sort of deep emotional mark for me because it was pretty obvious how the battle was going to play out and the stakes and my emotional investment had taken a hit cause of the rest of the film (mainly the pace and lack of character development) Which speaking as someone who is a bigger Star Wars fan than MCU fan makes me quite sad.
Disclaimer:I’m not trying to compare the two films I’m simply using this because the two scenes are very similar and are trying to invoke similar emotions

Then days before it came out, I read the opening crawl online and I was shocked that it started with "The dead speak". I was hoping it was a fake crawl someone wrote and put online but then opening day, seconds into the film, I saw it up on the screen :(

@@Fitchy-ke3wz I really don't get this argument. In TFA Maz Kanata tells Rey that whomever she's waiting for on Jakku, they're never coming back. Rey then runs away crying because she doesn't want to face the truth. Meaning her parents are either dead or not coming back because they don't want to.
And imo making her a no-one is the best choice. It allows her to stand on her own as her own character and have a potentially powerful arc where she could learn to accept herself as a person and that her parents not loving or caring about her doesn't define her sense of self-worth.
But nah, Rey Palpatine tho.

Honestly the first minute of every Star Wars movie, with the logo, the music, and the crawl, makes every movie worth seeing on its own, even if the rest of the movie ends up being terrible
