The more I think about Outer Wilds the more I realize just how good the movement really was. Especially with the realistic physics engine, such a cool galaxy to explore with a variety of platformer puzzles to solve.
Especially when compared to other space games like Starfield and Outer Worlds, its not even close. Like falling into the core of brittle hollow and using the jetpack to free yourself from the gravitational pull of the black hole. Thats cool as shit
Pokémon Legends Arceus is probably the most fun I've had exploring in Pokémon game. All I have to do is go somewhere. It does lose some points with the lack of a jumping option.
Clustertruck, the slightly clunky prince of persia games, many plattforming and racing games. Yeah, movement in games can be very exciting, BUT after I had played Titanfall 2 going back to Battlefield V or something similar felt like playing a walking simulator.
There should not be fast travel in Spider-Man 2, even for speedrunning, because then even the swinging becomes a skill issue, and even more critical for a good completion time. EDIT: As for games where the movement itself is fun, well, the Batman Arkham series is obvious. There's also Just Cause 3 (as the one in the series I've the most time with), Portal 1 and 2, and for me personally, MudRunner, Snowrunner, Subnautica, and the 2010 Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit is the only game where I actually got the sensation of joyriding. Just driving for the enjoyment of it.
