Here is my theory what happened (which you also share in your video): They maneuvered themselves into a strategic dead end. They were aiming for a mid tier market. Not full study level. Which is fine, but this market has changed in the last 4 years because Microsoft themselves and their creator partners are big players in this field. They produce really decent aircraft that accurately simulate standard procedures, without going into all the bells and whistles. Some of them free, some of them available for very modest 20 Bucks or even less. Which is exactly the tier this aircraft was developed for. And then the announcement dropped that MSFS24 would include an A330. With all variants, made by IniBuilds. And if you look at their A310 and A320NEO, that's a tall order to beat in the mid tier market. They probably knew their own project, even in the finished state, was not going to be as fully simulated. So they had two options: 1. Cancel the project altogether and write off the losses. Might have been the best for their reputation. But that option comes with a huge problem: The grant from the german government that they got to develop an A330 Neo. 480K Euros that they would have to pay back if they scrapped the project. And that's what probably drove the depreciation so high, that they decided for option: 2. Release now in the current state, no matter what. Earn at least a little money back and hope to at least fix the most glaring bugs and missing features after release, at the cost of damaging their reputation heavily. It's really a clusterfuck of epic proportions. And A330Driver gave another piece of the puzzle: The project manager of the A330 is the project manager of the FSS Aircraft. The same company that is infamous for dropping unfinished aircraft as "early access". So now he did the same with the A330.
afaik, FSS 727 was made by a different team, hence why despite being only the F variant, came out complete out of the box for that variant itself, compared to their E-jets, still, even compared to that, the A330 makes the FSS e jets look like study level.

LVFR may not be top notch but the details look much better when it comes to both the exterior and interior. The cabin looks premium in comparison to Aerosoft.
Interior yes. Flightdeck features, yes. Exterior...no. The one thing Aerosoft got right was the Exterior modelling. LatinVFR is blatantly inaccurate in terms of the modelling. The wings are extremely obvious to notice. Same bs as their A340.
Are you kidding? The LVFR airbus looks like a playtool to me from the outside. The aerosoft a330 it's still the best looking a330-300 on the market, no kidding ...and is the only aircraft who reminds me of a real a330. Fenix is in my opinion the only one who can top this.
As a original beta tester all they did was flip the beta changed the fonts. We all had these issue with WASM, we all had issues with the airplane not flying. All they did was flip it over. Everyone is completely shocked what they did.
aerosoft was already crap with him onboard, it's just something a lot of people refused to admit. They were only good for some scenery builds. A320 for FSX had bugs that were carried forward in the A330 for P3d six years later. never solved
They need to refund everyone's money. This isn't the first time they have done this. I've heard all the stories about the twin otter that Mathijs released and then pulled.
Send this one to the garbage heap. This A330 will never recover. It’ll take them another 3 years to fix what’s wrong with it. They either massively over-estimated their ability or they lost their best system developers during the project and thought giving a list of things that weren’t implemented would be accepted by the community. So tired of developers hyping products up years before they are ready and then releasing trash. Also wonder if the upcoming rental feature in 2024 played a part. They would know people would try it once and never rent or buy again. Better off peddling to some unsuspecting simmers on the back of the Aerosoft name and recovering some development costs.

what I would be interested in is - where is the airplane from the WIP trailer? at 1:22 there is at least some cabin textures. correct me if I'm wrong, but at least it's more than in the released version. and i don't think that that's because of it being a "base pack" to me it seems that they released something different from what they showed (although - now in retrospect - not much was shown after all)

It remains a complete mystery why the A330 is in this condition at this point in time. The LNAV-Issues everyone currently experiences were mentioned ONE year ago in a Dev-Update by Aerosoft. And there is an FSELITE article from a hands-on flight in 2023 which states features and system depth that is nowhere seen in this release. For me it is clear that there must have been a major issue during development (there are some pretty serious rumours about that). So they started from scratch and ran out of time due to the release of the IniBuilds A330…
I think you're right, they knew a freeware A330 was coming, and likely to be at least pretty good, so they felt pressure to release what they had, and unfortunately it's just not good enough even for a casual simmer.
Rushed to get it out to grab any revenue possible. A month and 2 weeks from now MSFS 2024 releases, with the INI A330 types. Toliss on the other platform releases in 10 days. Too much competition knowing they wouldn’t meet the same level and price justification would be lost.
I'm going to add to this theory if I may. I believe the reason why Aerosoft rushed A330 is because of PMDG 777 wide body that also going to be released.

The aircraft is in such a bug riddled state, speed fluctuations, not being able to follow a LNAV path, oscillations, the most simple functions not working (read; RNAV/LOC approaches, wind uplink, holding patterns, route offset, "Definition of custom "pilot waypoints" " whatever the hell that might be and no terrain map on the ND) that it's better to pull it from the market and rework the entire aircraft. But we all know that this would be a waste since we are 1 month away from MSFS24 with a free (probably better) version of the A330 anyway. Will Aerosoft itself survive? Scenery wise yes, aircraft wise, they will always be able to sell some aircrafts to the newer generations of simulator pilots who haven't heard of the drama. But with the more seasoned sim community I think that unless they can actually prove that they are still able to actually create a good aircraft, they are done for. First the CRJ, which ok, it flies and handles pretty well, but hasn't seen an update in over 2 years with this as cherry on top.
Honestly, what surprised and annoyed me most is the crazy half-designed passenger cabin. I mean, from the aircraft systems side I could understand that its not totally finished because this is simply very complex, so if they had been open about that and communicate a clear update path going forward, that could have been somewhat acceptable (although, "unflyable" is also kinda crazy to release). But these days a decent passenger cabin is just something standard, and therefore not too much to ask... But to release with this state of the interior seems like contempt for the players, honestly.
That only would make sense if such a premature release was even planned. I know little of how projects like this are planned, whether the 3D modelling is done first or in paralell to the systems modelling. Just from my gut feeling I would assume that you would first focus on the systems and see that all your efforts are concentrated to getting this thing fly reliably and accurately and getting the systems that you use on a daily basis to full correct function. Once that is done, and you feel like you could it release, then you start modelling the "nice to haves" like a cabin. But modeling them first before even having a flying aircraft seems counterintuitive to me.
You know its bad when lvfr has the better deal (nothing against them but they have mid quality planes with nice modeling) but they have more varients with the same quality for the same price. And aerosoft has high quality. And inibuilds is probably just laughing at them and taking their mistakes and fixing them. They may helt their cometition

The fact that they clearly encored all the reviewers warning, arosoft have torpedoed themselves. A product that’s been in development for over 3yrs but fail with the basics. This is arosofts Titanic, what a shock………
Guys aerosoft is not on the same level as inibuilds for even scenery. Frankfurt is horribly optimised and the interiors are awful. Their only saving grace is the airport tarmac and ground markings are on point

They may have had a in certain release date for it. Either way, their CRJ's showed promise but no updates on that. This is and isn't a surprise, but it's sad they dropped this sh*t sandwich.
ToLiSS? That doesn’t even make sense. That’s for XP12 while the Aerosoft is for msfs2020. Two completely different markets. Aerosoft was probably nervous about sales due to the iniBuilds A330 coming in the base sim (msfs2024), especially when they said it was going to only release for msfs2024. Not to mention the ToLiSS is a neo, while the Aerosoft is a ceo.
Usually just a few people are up to the decision of launch or no launch so that makes no sense, just a failed project, they were probably really concerned of not earning a thing when 2024 would launch a free a330 far better than this...
Aerosoft was never good at making airliners themselves. Sceneries is what they are good at. They were the ones that watered down the term "Professional" with their Airbus attempt back in the days of FSX. yes i'm a grumpy old man now, get off my lawn!
They are a Joke! But as i said they are all following the MSfS and Asobo trend by releasing an unfinished product and keep updating it until the end of the life span of the simulator!
The most baffling thing about this is that they already have the systems right in P3D. What happened to that codebase? Why couldn’t they just refactor it? Did someone wipe their databases???
Is it bad. YES. But for pete's sake, it is not the worst release in history. Memory seems to be failing here. We have seen worse and much worse and much much worse. I know of at least 5 addons thar seems to be so bad that it beat this accident of an addon

I've read that companies these days are adopting a culture of toxic positivity. I wonder if that played a factor here.
