Thanks for making this video. I’m glad I watched it at the last minute before I attempted. I was gonna replace the entire block until I saw this. Got it done. Adding some dry lube to the feelers helped them slide out. I bought a new unit from the dealer, not a used 2011 like this video. So far so good…
Good video. I’ve had this happen on my 18 2 times now. Both times very intermittent and went away just as fast as it came. No rhyme or reason either. I believe that it’s the stuck brushes too. I’ll be ordering one soon and will get it replaced. Thanks!!
I have a 2017 Ram 2500 diesel and have had the same problem for two years. I was finally able to find the replacement Hydraulic Control Unit online for a reasonable cost. The defective unit part number ends in AA. The replacement ends in AB. That is the one you need to use. There are some good videos on TH-cam that show how to replace it which I did. I reused the old ABS module. You will need to do a manual brake bleed after and then an ABS brake bleed with a scan tool after and then clear the trouble code. The dinging and ABS service light are gone. If what you did doesn’t end up working I recommend just changing the hydraulic control unit with the new one. It worked for me and that’s seems to be what the problem is. It’s the bad motor on the HCU.
Sir, I cannot thank you enough for posting this video. I found this thru your post on the Cummins forum. The visual you provided along with all the instructions on the forum helped me to get mine fixed today. That chime has been torturing us for months! I did repair my original motor by adjusting the slides on the brushes. Your video was a tremendous help. Thank you. God bless.
Thank you for another interesting and enjoyable video. I agree totally about Amazon and the size of certain other monopolies. At the start of the last century the robber barons were brought to heel, time to do it again and it can be done.
Did this repair on mine. Month in and everything is good to go. I bought the hcu new and just robbed the motor off of it. Grease on the feelers help hold them in place to the hcu.
@ I finally got to it this weekend. I pulled the electric motor as he showed in the video, I just shaved down the brushes for more clearance and put the original back in. So far so good.
8:49 My same question: is it still working? Anyone else that has done this same fix using a solenoid off 2008-2011 HCU AND it has eliminated the problem? Does the antilock brakes, cruise control, and traction control NOW WORK? My 2018 , 3500 has been doing this for almost two years and every dealer I’ve talked to wants to do a diagnostic for about $200 even though I’ve already had this done at Ram dealer. Then they will order the part (ABS MODULE) , even though they told me that NONE are available. Supposedly FCA is developing a new replacement?
Thank you, I used this video to fix my 2017 2500 bought my used 2011 and module from eBay for 138.00

Glad I posted on the forums and get to see how many people I’ve helped with this issue!
Another great visit with the Farmer Md.

Just replacing the small motor on the HCU is the easier and cheaper fix IMO. No brake bleeding. So far, it has fixed the problem.

So far mine is still working
Thanks for the video. Mine just started last weekend, and am hoping to not have to spend $1,800. I'm going to give it a shot this weekend.
What did you do?

Excellent video, thank you very much. Best wishes!
Wish I found a video this detailed 2 months ago
Those pins are brushes and the thing on the shaft is a commutator
Awesome fix
Cheap and easy. So far after 1000 miles, it's still working
Good video.
The dealer wifi sent a bug to your truck telling the computer to act up since it's out of warranty.
I just pulled mine apart both brushes were stuck I removed them and lightly sanded them. No more lights!
If I change the all module for a using one do you think I have to programming?
I have the same problem on a 2015 Ram 2500.
2022 ram 3500 same problem
Is this it? 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 ABS Anti-lock brake pump Assembly OEM
Did you have to take the truck to get programmed or did it correct the issue without reprogramming?
No reprogramming necessary with this fix
My RAM 1500 2014 has this same issue but the e brake light also lights up on the dash. Hopefully this works
After more than a month and 1,000 miles, my warning lights and dinging noise has not returned.
Hello from Tx! Do you have an update on how it’s holding? Your way seems easier than dissembling the whole HCU.
My issue is still fixed after more than a month. Drove in it almost 10 hours on Saturday with no chimes!
@ I appreciate your response. I’m glad to hear that the fix is holding up so far. About to fix mine this weekend. Blessings 🙏
Glad I found this, I am having the same issue. Has it continued to work for you?
Yes it has so far
