  • As a self-taught metalsmith, I know it’s hard to find resources to learn how to do techniques. I hope this video helps you learn how to melt your own metal, roll it into wire and anneal it along the way!
This topaz ring has been a nightmare… you’ll see why throughout the video. But, metalsmithing isn’t easy. Nothing worth doing is!
I would like to reiterate that I am self-taught and that means I might do things differently to other benchmen. That doesn’t mean I’m wrong, this is just how I have found works for me! I hope my techniques help you learn. And if you aren’t learning, I hope you enjoy the process of making jewelry! It’s so rewarding, even if it doesn’t always go according to plan.

Of course!! I will make a video on how to do this but basically, you need the inner diameter of the ring size you want, add the thickness of your wire and multiply that number by pi. You can look up the diameters of ring sizes online based on the country sizing you use (USA, EU, UK/Aus…). I also have a link in the FAQ page of my website that has a comprehensive breakdown of ring sizes. I hope this helps!!

Gracias Vanesa por tus tutoriales!! Pongo traductor pues no hablo ingles. Gracias

I am so glad you’re enjoying my videos, Beatriz 🫶🏼 the welding glasses are only for Platinum, not gold, silver or brass. You don’t have to anneal in the dark (most jewelers don’t), but indoor lighting can make seeing the color change more difficult. The lighting I have where I solder isn’t good and this is just what works for me! I hope you find what works for you 🤍
