    At age 75, I took up golf this summer. As I have sought to develop a consistent swing I took a couple of lessons from a "pro". I played several times a week, and then looked here and there on the net for help. I heard the term "rotation" often, and so there I was ... turning my shoulders, turning my hips ... and scarcely able to hit an iron at all that wasn't topped. I took the lessons of this video to the range today and the difference was amazing. Thank you Danny!

    Man this is exactly what I needed to hear! I just couldn’t keep from standing up in my swing to save my life. I was staying in posture and rotating better than ever at the range today. Got a lot of work to do but feel like I’m on the right path! Thank you!!

    Yep - "fire the hips"....there are times when I want to fire them and get some new ones. Seriously, I really like how this drill lays out the process of getting the hips in the cleared position in both the backswing and downswing. It also shows how the flow of the torso works with this to "coil" itself to help store and release the power for effective golf swings. I have been working with the right foot back and it has helped with the open face. I am working now on getting the front hip to clear to allow full follow-thru. This lesson is the perfect step by step method for getting there....great lesson again Danny.

    FANTASTIC Danny. You're a golf simplification guru 😃So happy to have your videos. What I like is that work can be done at home. When the body is relaxed and is working well (like when we walk) it's so easy to have a simple and efficient swing. Big thanks. Hope to come from France to Canterburry to see you after the covid crisis. Catapult and Elvis addict for sure now 😎

    I video taped myself the other day, to see what exactly I was doing that was causing my inconsistency. I had a bit of a side to side hip sway, instead of driving them back and through.
    After watching this video and hitting the range today to practice, it was like a miracle happened - good contact, straighter shots and some monster drives. The trail leg back was a revelation. Danny Maude is my favourite teacher on TH-cam. Absolutely top class.

    This is perfect, it answer's a question I had a while back. I was at the range and ended up doing the first part of this drill by accident. I found that when I stepped back with my trail foot, I was getting a really nice strike and drawing the ball. I can now complete the drill, so thanks! By the way, good to see you striking at full power again, you seemed to have recovered well.

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the more you close your stance the less it will open on the way through. It's more important to complete your turn as we get older that to get the hips opening up

    Great video Danny, I always seem to struggle with that ”bridge” move.
    Malaska has a cool drill to feel this.
    He sets out a line of balls and walks along the line hitting them one after the other, but instead of doing this the conventional way, he walks backwards.
    Not easy to do but really gives the sensation of the hips going back.

    Been struggling with my irons lately. Everything has been going to the right 30-40 yards. I found out my club face it open because I’m not using my hips. As soon as I started firing my hips, I hit them dead straight. I’ve built up a few bad habits so it’s tough to get my hips into it now. Thanks for the video!

    Danny.. I can tell that this video along with “jam jar” video will help me fire my hips. Your instruction has help correct my inside out swing. I have started recording my swing to see if I am applying the concepts your are teaching. I have learned on to start the downswing with my legs but my hips stop moving before impact which causes a chicken wing. What can I say.. I am work in progress. I will break 90 this year. I am trying to video that will help me shorten my swing to help hopefully create better contact.

    Hi Danny. Fantastic tried and true video.
    Rory McIlroy said publicity he starts his downswing by firing his trail side hip. With his stretched out stomach muscles and all the other muscles on his backswing I now understand what he meant as this one trigger move helps him to prevent premature extension; maintain his golf posture; and rotates his body immediately to his lead side to finish his downswing in less then a third of a second. Cheers 😃⛳️👍🥂

    First time I have come across your videos Danny, and that for me is transformative. I don't do technical, more feel and sensations, and do struggle lot with a poor lower-half during my swing. Can't wait to get out to try this. Where are you based?

    Hi Danny: another great drill. The catapult method has been a game changer for me and I rushed this morning to test this one. Great feeling with all the clubs, including the dreaded 3W BUT I’m hesitating with the driver, specifically with the hips “pushing” downwards. Should I look for a different feeling with the driver? Should I stick to the same drill and feelings with all the clubs? Thanks a lot. Keep on going!

      More ideas coming up for driver for the coming weeks but this does work well with driver

    Thanks as usual, Danny. Would you say that the backswing starts by pushing to the front your left leg or by pulling back your right leg?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Push off the front

    I’ve been playing golf inconsistently for 3 years now and never understood why I was so inconsistent. I played a round there and was hitting the ball brilliantly after this video thank you so much. I have always used the ground but rather than pushing my left leg and and butt cheek back on the downswing I was pushing forward off the ground and could never square the face without flipping. This has greatly helped my tempo and finding the centre of the face! Thank you so much

    Oh Daniel... once again. Excellent. Gosh I'd love to play golf with you some day. Better still , I'd love to have played golf golf with you when I was in my thirties. Sigh.

    Excellent video Danny , good hip action is really difficult but your explanation made it easier to understand , many thanks
    Hips have been my nemesis for years but slowly I'm learning to turn better both backwards and forwards
    Clubhead now up to 109 mph after 2 weeks , 10% gain
    Remember folks you need to practice hard to get better rotation through the ball

    Hi Danny, video highlights my biggest fault. Always struggling to get through the ball properly. Can't wait for better weather to try out on the range. Just one observation : watching the pros swing, their right hip rotation seems very limited on backswing?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It varies, most amateur golfers just won’t be able to make a turn without loving them

    Dear Danny, there is not much shallowing club video from you, would you please share your opinion about this? Some kind of artificial movement such as external rotation right elbow? Is it really helpful for good swing?

    • @DanielMaude
      @DanielMaude  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just don’t think it helps to encourage golfers to do this. If you aren’t shallowing the golf club I believe it’s more important to understand why that is as opposed to artificially trying to put a club there
