Yes!! To be honest, I struggle to understand ASL grammar, but your videos have helped me understand much better how this language works! I absolutely love how you explain things -in a simple and clear way- and I would love you to make more grammar videos to reach my goal of being part of the deaf community!!! And of course, to make my signing more organized and understandable. 😅 Thank you! :)
Advanced tip: Usually, listing like that is used for indicating siblings or children, not one’s spouse. Different generations or categories aren’t usually mixed like that, either (spouses and children in the same list).
Your channel has been THE best supplement to my ASL classes. PLEASE do more grammar videos like this! I feel like learning vocabulary can be done in so many ways, but so few people are teaching this and it is so valuable!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Loving the grammar videos. I have a nonverbal grandson with Down's syndrome. I wish I had a way to show you his sign to ask someone to sing to him. He loves music. I would sing a song to him and he would want more but couldn't express himself. So I would show him the sign for more and ask him if he wanted more. He would try to sign more, but not quite. So now he has his own special sign that means he wants someone to sing to him. Even his 5 year-old sisters know what he wants when he signs his special sign.
I just finished ASL 2! I came across your videos when I began ASL 1 and I have continued to watch them through ASL 2. All your videos are great and you have helped me immensely! Thank You so so so much. I want to continue to learn more ASL so I look forward to all your new material and will rewatch the videos I have already seen to keep it all fresh in my head. You help so many people, thank you again! :)
Loving these grammar videos! Thank you so much :) I watch The Daily Moth deaf news channel for my daily news updates, and your videos have been so helpful in understanding ASL sentence structure. That said, I still love your vocabulary lists! :)
Yes please include more of these videos. I learned things i didn't know and have studied sign language for years. I hope you also include asl sentence structure and teach grammar as well. Love all the videos they are awesome.
Yes, I really a beginner sign language sign, and my coworkers and I we practice, because his mother knows some but he forgotten. And this help me alot. Thank you
Hi Meredith. That’s great video. Hopefully that your fans are learning better than the last time. Thanks for teaching them all about sign language. ☺️☺️
I just found you I think you go a little bit too fast for me but it's okay because I could go back on the videos thank you very much for taking your time to teach us
@@LearnHowtoSign I am going to meet a deaf child next Tuesday. And want to be prepared to sign with him. I know a lot of sign language. But would like to go back and learn more Learn How to Sign videos so, I don't forget the signs that I know already.
Reall just apprate you giving of your time to help us learn better. Learned a lot from this video thank you i knew about facial expressions but now this helps even more. God bless you and your family.🤟💖
I watched a television show fairly recently starring deaf people. The sign for cool (as in "he's cool") seemed to be the same as the sign for apple. Is that correct, or is there a subtle difference between the two signs that I didn't notice?
On the very last asl you were teaching, I was to believe the sign for ( relax) was LOVE. So... Which is which or are the the same using shoulder and facial expressions?
Great video. Just to add some feedback: in ASL BUT is also not used very often. The shoulder shift shows BUT. In your example about the book verses the movie, BUT really isn't necessary and really more of an English sign.
Hey, I asked a question in another video but iguess you only read the recent ones, and it's ''kinda'' important in ASL I cannot cross my fingers, like i can only get one halfway on the other, is it good enough for an R and other signs that include crossing fingers? I can cross em if i use my other hand to make them go on the other side but it breaks the fluidity and make it unprofessinal, Any tips?
Deaf people are very patient and accommodating. You would never sign just the better R in isolation so the rest of your fingerspelling would probably support that one letter comprehension. I have taught ASL for 32 years and often notice the more a student practices fingerspelling words, the more dextrous they become. Often they don't notice it. Depending on how long you have been signing, you may just need to wait until your hands, wrists, and fingers become used to forming the letters without consciously thinking about it. That muscle memory is not acquired in weeks. Were you able to spell words on paper correctly in 2 weeks when you were in 2nd or 3rd grade? Probably not. We all need repetition in everything we learn.
I was told never to list parents or anyone else but siblings. I actually did poorly on a state test because I listed my parents with my siblings and I. 😢
Yes , please do more grammar videos. This was great.
You got it!

3:54 why don’t you say “you” at the end
On the very last asl you were teaching, I was to believe the sign for ( relax) was LOVE. So... Which is which or are the the same using shoulder and facial expressions?
They look very similar. Love is with closed fist (s hands) and relax is with flat hands.
Definitely!!!

My professor was doing the listing thing and never explained it. Spent so long trying to figure out what it meant 😭

Please more grammar!
