If you install them further away from the exterior wall of your house it reduces the spot light effect quite a bit. Mine are about 8in out. With this setup you won’t be able to eliminate the spot light though. However, Govee has permanent outdoor light strips that eliminate the spot light effect all together if that’s what you would prefer. Spot light effect is more for a contemporary type designed house. The strip looks the best on a modern type designed home. In my opinion of course.

@@ChrisMaherDIY Do you have a wattage meter (Kill A Watt or similar)? Assuming the PSU given with the kit has ratings labeled on it, just compare that to the wattage draw (are you able to do RGB White, or does it default to the white diodes? If not, I wonder what the most power hungry color option is).
I have 157 12V RGBW puck lights (similar to say Gemstone) on one of my WLED boxes, and at max power it draws like 220 watt (should be closer to 270 watt but I don’t power inject, visually it looks fine). I use a 350W PSU, that’s 63% load (77% if I had no voltage drop). However, using just the white diode at 50% for nightly use, it doesn’t even draw 30W, so I’m more than fine.

For everybody asking for WLED conversion..... It's most likely the same as any other WLED conversion. Just swap the data lines, keep the power wires seperate, and always ground everything together. Your LED count is how many actual sections that are controllable with an IC. These look to be indiviually addressable. They still look kind of gapped out and not as smooth as they should. Probably why they are 2 times brighter. I think all those products are way too bright and lose color saturation before even being 50% of their max brightness scale. These do have a unique look to them though. Video is usually difficult to show what you actually see lol. Im sure that gets real fun at ultra bright. Having both softwares on a switch is what id do. I actually wouldnt ever buy something like this, especially since i know about WLED.

For those who are a little confused. 6500 Lumens is the total lumen of the entire 100 ft light strip. 72 LED beads * 90 lumen per bead = 6480 lumens.
Cheap alternatives use 20-30 lumens beads, Govee 2 and Govee Pro use 40-50 lumens beads, so this Asahome Pro version gets the most bang for the buck.

I took out the LEDs and the controllers which at the time I didn't understand all of them the way they were wired. I had 17 different remoted and I wanted it all to sync bc I was making an ambient lighting to match my screen. Ran 144/m ws2812b in almost all of the things and everything looks better with WLED. Govee Aura Lamps. 1 of mine started glitching and I could have fixed the section that was glitches I think. Instead I took out the parts and kept them bc it's interesting and usable maybe someday. Wrapped 144/m around the inside of that and it's a 100 times cooler than it was. thing costed $60 or I'd rip apart my other one. Gave that one away. Everything can be better with individually addressable LEDs

ASAHOM S1060 series permanent outdoor lights are LED, using WS2811 to drive the LEDs, there are two WS2811 for each light, the first WS2811 is used to drive the RGB, the other WS2811 drives the 2700K and 6500K, the remaining one pin does not work.

Zero chance of me installing the Smart Life app, needs WLED.

Indeed. There's a high likelihood that the app will not be supported for very long. I'm not putting up new lights every few years. Also needs Home Assistant.

I do wish Chris Maher was a little more honest with how he evaluates brightness. These new lights, which he boldly advertises as 2x brighter--whatever that means--are rated at 6,500 lumens for a 72 light strand (this is is their medium length, which will set you back $400 at the time of writing). What does 6,500 mean? Well, a normal household light bulb shines with about 1,000 lumens. A bright floodlight could be like 20,000 lumens. Anyone who knows anything about cameras knows that you can set the shutter and aperture to make very dim lights look bright against a dusk sky depending on how far into dusk you go. I just wish he'd use more clear and understandable metrics for brightness.

Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment! In the video I talk about how each light has a max brightness of 90lm which is close to double that of the govee pro kits max brightness. I try to keep things pretty high level in my videos since in the past when I have gone more into the details, audience retention drops off significantly during those parts. I'm happy to try doing that sort of thing again if people think its valuable but data suggests that most people are bored by that. When recording I always try to have settings adjusted so that what the camera captures is as accurate as I can possibly get to what my eyes are seeing. Hope that helps!

6500 Lumens is the total lumens. 72 LED beads * 90 lumen per bead = 6480 lumens.

You’re nuts if you think that adhesive is all that’s needed to keep those strands up longer than a week!

Thanks for watching! Can't speak on other material but I've never had a single one fall off with just using the adhesive on my aluminum undersiding. I wish they were less sticky because they are a pain to take down when I test other kits.

These lights are dope bro. I'm a Govee Wh0re, I install Govee, we're partners, I have over 40 devices currently connected in the App on my profile, I'm an LED Connoisseur and now on my way to become an LED Nerd if I'm not already and I LOVE LEDs bro. It's literally all thanks to you too and I mean it. Once I started watching your videos it gave me the ambition I needed to pursue Govee and making somewhat of a career out of it now. It's a dream come true. THANK YOU CHRIS!!!!!!!
By the way these lights look INSANE I can't wait for mine!!
