- In this video I hope to convince players who are getting frustrated with those 121/0 K/D pilots to ditch Rao and the FXM-33 (Stinger) and instead play Lis with her TGM.
In this video I explain why I don't think Rao is as effective as everyone thinks he is at dealing with good pilots, why you should start playing Lis, some tips on using her G84-TGM (TV Guided Missile) and finally some tips to deal with those particularly good pilots!

Amazing ty going for a new thing to master. I've just been using the m5 for 10 hrs of gameplay now. Is not bad, but lis could be way better. Just never thought of using her.

I agree. Interesting to see that Lis does less damage to transport helis than Stingers do - nicely shows how different gadgets are designed to interact.
@@favclassisspy9478 yeah that was definitely a surprising result. I was expecting the same if not more damage from Lis, but I guess the logic from Dice is that they are quite easy to hit with Lis missile.
Great guide bro. As a BF chopper veteran it has been a learning experience to deal with the TGM and this guide illustrates just how frustrating it can be getting one shot from a good TGM pilot. Earned a new sub. 👌
It's very satisfying dodging the TGMs. It's horrible when you can hear the missile coming but you can't see it.
I also find it super annoying getting hacked since it's just wasting both my time and the Rao's time, at least with being hit by a Lis missile I feel like they earned the kill.

I've got where I've adopted a more standoff approach to chopper piloting. Not that I wanna fly that way, I'm usually the brash stunt pilot trying to get in close, but no. Now I've gotten sit back in the stealth chopper and snipe people with the cannons. Literally walking in burst from the 30mm on enemy positions. It is what it is.
It took me a while to learn that the TGM wasn't as effective against the ground vehicles. This makes a ton of sense. Great guide!
It's definitely a good call on Dice's part. Since they are so easy to hit and ground vehicles are already in a pretty weak state.
Lis missiles are still useful against them but just a little less so than the M5 recoilless.
I’m glad that ppl are making more guides/tips & tricks vids and detailed ones like yours, didn’t have much of them over the last year understandably so cuz of the state of the game but now that it’s making a comeback im starting to learn new things every day, had to learn thing over months before haha

Clicked the thumbnail because I have had the exact same issue and after specializing Rao (took damn long) it felt more and more useless because pilots became better. This explains your chart!! Great guide. I think that Rao suits better for disabling ground vehicles imo. Also, my rule of thumb for taking air vehicles is using some sort of marking (i.e. tracing dart, SOFLAM) and team coordination, but after watching this I'll give Lis a go one more time.
I would definitely recommend trying her out, but you need to put the time in. I think it's easy to be deterred by the lack of results early but that is what makes her so worthwhile when you can start hitting these shots. I would say I am decent with her, and I still miss shots all of the time. Some days I'll hit all of my shots and some days I can barely hit any. Good luck! Hope it goes well, thanks for commenting!
Totally agree, I run a SOFLAM, M240B & Ammo crate as angel and I feel unstoppable at times, I can mark, lay suppressive fire and revive team mates. The SOFLAM is definitely one of the greatest gadgets BF has when utilized properly.
Lis is still better for ground vehicles.
And plus 90 percent of helicopter pilots are not fast enough to escape my Rao hack I don't know what u doin
It may just be me but IMO casper's drone is better at disabling armor than Rao's hack. You can sit a considerable distance away from the vehicle and just hover above it, putting it in a stun-lock until someone finally notices your drone (which often they dont)
I know everyone’s already commented this but… thank you so much. I’ve always taken an aa approach in battlefield games and have been playing as rao with an aa launcher, you’re 1000% right. At a certain point there’s nothing I could do against a skilled heli pilot, I’d hack (“what’s my password” lol) and they’d pop flares the moment before I succeed. They’d then hide behind the environment and return 3 seconds later with malice and swiftly eliminate my angry self. I always had such a hard time whenever attempting lis as an Xbox player, still figuring out the right sensitivity for it but I’ve taken down 25 vehicles in the past 2 days since finding this video. Truly perfect demonstrations and phrasing the entire video. The graphs hit home and were like a gut punch that kicked me into action. Thanks again, looking forward to future videos

I think that it's definitely not something that is obvious, using Rao just makes so much sense in the beginning, but as pilots start to get used to it, it ends up just having little effect, and I can see how that would change into players saying, 'Aircraft are so overpowered because I cannot deal with them anymore'. I'm also very glad to hear that as an Xbox player you are having success! I've heard from quite a few console players that they can't find success since controlling the missiles with a controller is too difficult. If you have any tips for them, please let them know!

Haven't played for a long time and have been thinking about returning. Respect to the effort you have put into this video. I love the guided missiles after learning to use them in BF3/4 onwards. Vehicles never stood a chance with the accuracy they offer.
They were very fun in BF4, I used to play in the boats that had them all the time, and I thoroughly enjoyed hitting littlebirds and jets with them, so having an infantry unit with a portable version is very fun. I would recommend checking it out, the game certainly has gotten much better since release.
Is it worth full price? I'm not so sure, but if you can get it in a winter sale, I think you should.
Using just stingers, I have shot down 1300 aircraft. I did that working alone and mostly during the period when half my missiles went straight up into the sky due to bugs. As soon as flare times were extended, the difficulty in shooting down an aircraft with stingers increased significantly. I have found positioning to be the most principal factor in achieving kills. Harassment without kills can help your team win, but you will get few points for your effort. Working in teams is an entirely different matter. Rao, Liz, SOFLAM, M5, AA vehicle and Angel working together can own the skies.
Oh yeah you can definitely be successful with the stinger, but against those really good pilots getting a single hit is really hard, and then getting two hits one after the other is near impossible.
Did they extend the flare duration, or did they just animate it? I do recall that close to release once a chopper popped it's flares you couldn't lock onto it for a short duration, your stinger just wouldn't lock, and then in some patch they added an animation of the flares continuing to stream out until you could lock on.
Yeah, I do find that using the stinger is thankless work if you are unable to get kills :( It's partly the reason I moved to using Lis since I was having much more success taking out choppers.

@@keithtwizzy2700 they dont need to escape immediately, just need press flare, pretty much out time your hack and would be far away already.

This is a good explanation of Rao’s ability and how he works when attempting to take down a heli. I do find that not all pilots are as good as this and I also find Rao’s ability to be disable vehicles to be invaluable. Keep the great content coming! Thanks!

I 100% agree, there are a lot of pilots that the Rao and stinger combo will work on every time, that is partly why I think so many people still focus on using this strategy whenever they encounter a difficult pilot but the results from weaker pilots likely won't lead to results on a stronger pilot. But if you practice with Lis and get good with her missile you will be able to deal with strong and weak pilots alike.

Awesome video my dude. I love the versatility of Lis's tgm. Taking out sniper campers, people on top of buildings, rangers, spawn beacons, 1 shoting trucks, the deployed turrets, defeating dozers shield and ofcourse air vehicles. Even if you aren't the best, simply harassing the pilots gets them away from farming your team for a bit
It's so good. I just needed to tell people about it. As someone who flies a lot, I rarely see people will Lis missiles targeting me, meanwhile there is an abundance of Rao players spamming their hack to no avail. Hopefully this will get more people trying her out and seeing that she is a great choice when dealing with pilots! Thanks for commenting!

It's so frustrating, I'm not sure how Rao players don't just rage quit in frustration every game but if they want to keep hacking then that is completely up to them :)
Lis takes time to get to grips with but once you get it, it's an absolute blast!
Lis is my main, love using her rockets for free kills on camping snipers. My full AA build is Lis, the Rorsch, and C5. I find that the Rorsch is great to use intermittently on armor with the TGMs for both ground vehicles and support helis. Nothing like single-handedly destroying an enemy tank from afar!
Edit: one last thing, I personally very rarely use the boost function on the TGM. It's much easier to guide its trajectory without it, granted the rocket isn't shot down prior.
I just unlocked the Rorsch and it does seem fun, as a pilot I was very concerned that air vehicles would be absolutely useless with their presence, but so far it doesn't seem the case. It is definitely good to use with Lis for finishing off those attack choppers or transports. I suck with
I would strongly recommend getting used to the boost. In choppers the missiles are very easy to dodge at their default speed.

Personally, I always used to roll Lis with a weapon that could hold 40mm AP grenades, which are often overlooked but very powerful. But I admit the Rorsch may be gamechanger. Me and a friend had a blast today peppering wounded aircraft and seeing which one of us could finish them off.

Great video! One thing no one ever mentions though is, there's more than ONE player on each team. Teamwork is essential! You're correct...ONE Rao isn't gonna get it done, but 4 or 5 Raos spread across the map have a much better chance. The same goes for 4 or 5 Liz's.

Definitely! We need a variety of specialist not just a team of all one. But as a pilot I've noticed when I'm on a good run more people are busting out Rao than playing Lis and I think that's because his strategy is easier.

I’ve purchased this game a while back for $~10USD on sale …… I was waiting for game updates to fix the many issues…… but it’s great to see these tips videos for characters to give me a leg up when I start playing this game shortly. Thanks man 👍💪✊🥰
Getting it for 10 dollars is definitely worth it! It's definitely improved a lot since release. I recommend trying it out and if you aren't happy with the state of the game then just wait a couple more months. They are making the game better every month.

A great tip you forgot to mention is for PC players and the sensitivity settings. The missile is tied to your vehicle moving sensitivity, if the sensitivity is low, it'll be a lot harder to maneuver the missile in the air.
I think you can also change this on consoles, but it must have a limit. I've not played around with the sensitivity, but I would find one that will work for you and then practice. If we keep switching the sensitivity, you'll never get used to the Lissiles.

This is a really good video. I definitely agree with all you say, but I also do something that worked well even before Lis was added. I love using the wildcat when it’s available for the defending team. I usually use the AA cannon with the anti-ground-vehicle missiles. Although I like getting kills, I discovered that I give great support to my team by damaging both air and ground vehicles enough to make them retreat. The more time they spend repairing, the less time they spent killing my teammates. There have been moments where people have got so tired of me that lots of them try to flank me to kill me with c5. I dunno, maybe I just like ground vehicles too much… I definitely love the sound the wildcat AA cannons make.
I agree the AA Tank is very good at taking out aircraft. However, what I see so often is people only using the AA missiles on them, and at that point you are just using a clunky, armoured stinger xD. The 30mm guns are AMAZING at dealing with aircraft.
For some unknown reason, I have never thought about changing the AA missiles to something else to help deal with ground vehicles, I think that is something that I am definitely going to do the next time I play.

@@marzipandan767 Yeah, at this point it is impossible to lock AA missiles on anything. You have more chances to damage ground vehicles with missiles (and, as far as I remember, you can even lock anti-ground-vehicle missiles on air vehicles if someone marks them with a soflam). The 40 mm cannon is also good against air vehicles, but I prefer the 30 mm because it is more effective at longer distances.
It's nice to see more people using the Wildcat in AA configuration instead of as a light tank.

Same here , lol when your on a flag and your the only one and a tank is there trying to take it you sneak the get close and you hack if it stays there you C5 it poof it's gone , or if you in a open field and you see a vehicle you hack it them use soflam it usually panics and runs away , I usually use emp nades also and 95% of the time use soflam but lately been using C5 depending on how I feel like playing

Very inciteful video that will make me reexplore Lis. Dice did announce the the Skybox ceiling would be adjusted for choppers (but not jets) so they cannot spam bombs and cannons from out of range of any counter measures.

Really good video mate, really informative! For saying I hit level S008 the other day and use Lis a lot I had no idea that jet's nightbirds and stealth helicopters were 1 hit kills

I've been playing with TV missiles in BF4 for a long while and I can say Liz missiles are definitely easier and more devastating. This is a great guide and as a heli main I die to TV 90% of the time lol. Experience is probably the best teacher in battlefield games
It's usually Lis missiles or being sniped by a tank. I almost never die to stingers or Rao, which was the entire reason for the guide :)

Thanks for the video. I was using Rao but coming up against really skilled pilots. Now I use Lis. I usually wait until a couple other players have damaged the aircraft/ground vehicles and then go in for the last shot when they're trying to escape. I've always sucked at flying so atleast there's something else I can try master.

Cool vid. Was using Lis, but never noticed the afterburner on the missile, pretty useful. Also, was trying to course correct, which is hard
It's definitely very useful to get used to using the afterburner. The missiles are way too slow and easy to avoid without it.
Course correcting is something you'll get better at with time.

Nice video and I think you're spot on in your assessments of each character. When it comes to which one to choose I think it comes down to what your focus is on during the match. If your focus is to capture objectives I think Rao would be the better choice for the exact reason you mentioned. He forces the choppers off the capture point to their safe spot, denying the enemy air support during their capture attempt,where Liz would have a hard time hitting a chopper at such a close range. If your focus is to just keep the choppers out of the sky then Liz is the better choice. I think the ideal mix is to have a bit of both where the Raos would force the choppers into their safe spot and the Lizs would then take advantage of their vulnerable position.
I definitely think that a balance of specialist is more beneficial than everyone playing just one. Personally I find myself playing the objective as Lis all of the time as well as clearing the skies. I find that Rao players would be the ones spending a lot of the game focusing on the skies and unable to play the objectives since the choppers are not dealt with and you need to keep refocusing upon them.
But you should absolutely play whoever you want :)

I think it's also good to keep in mind the mental factor of pelting a vehicle with missiles constantly, whether they hit or miss, if the driver or pilot has to deal with them in any way, it can make them more stressed, and eventually they might slip up and make a fatal mistake. Even the best vehicle players aren't immune to biology
Exactly! As a good pilot keeps harassing a team, they always attract more attention and that can become overwhelming. I've definitely hit some really good pilots with Lis missiles only after they have been getting absolutely swarmed by my team.

In a way, Rao's hacking deals with choppers but in a non-lethal way. More so you are denying the pilot the ability to be effective. If you're constantly hacking the same pilot, you pressure him to escape or get blown out of the sky. In general yes, the Lis is the most effective for straight-up killing vehicles but Rao's ability definitely has great utility in dealing with vehicles just requires more teamwork.
Rao has a different place after 3.2. I think more people should be hacking just for that soflam effect.
But now, especially with her buffs, there is no reason not to use Lis to deal with choppers. Hitting them is much easier than before, and choppers take longer to respawn, so you get an even longer break from air harassment.
If you are playing as a recon, then I would 100 percent play Rao. He is the best choice, in my opinion. He definitely has his usefulness since 3.2.

I would strongly recommend her! It takes time but the reward for your time investment is a really fun and satisfying way to deal with choppers.

Rao's strength is shutting down the attack of vehicles. Once hacked they can't fire, which includes the passenger weapons (MAVs and other 4 seat weapon station vehicles are crippled when hit by Rao, so he works well in combination with C4 rushing armor or even making them panick and throwing mines behind them.
He is definitely effective at shutting down those really tanky vehicles! As I mentioned in the appendix, shutting those vehicles out with Rao is the only thing an individual can do about them. Since killing them requires a team effort.
Exactly: Rao is a complement/part of anti air group, and gives leeway to... lis or Wildcat to take the Choppa down.
As a returning player, good video. This new Lis character looks fun, especially for those of us old enough to know the days of using the NCs phoenix rockets in planetside.. Thing is though, Rao was never about being the guy to actually get the kill on the choppers and the people who equipped him with a stinger were always doing it wrong from the start. He was always about creating no fly zones and he does that in spades. After they buffed his hack speed, one good Rao player can keep multiple choppers chain hacked in an area and just frustrate the living crap out of most pilots till they throw in the towel. In my experience it's incredibly rare to encounter a pilot good enough to really focus on and harass that Rao player locking an area down and even if they do get the ground kill, hes respawned seconds later and is right back to hacking again. Of course all of this only really applies to breakthrough where you even have real regions to create no fly zones that count in the first place. It's pretty much pointless on conquest where pilots have the option to just go fly off and farm people somewhere else if a Rao shows up..luckily I gave up on conquest years ago so Raos still plenty fun for me to play when I want to do something different.
I think I get a very different experience to most people because I mostly play conquest.
I can see a Rao being more annoying in the tighter game area of breakthrough, but I still think that just taking the chopper with out is the better solution.

Lately I was using Rao with SOFLAM and this with a good team actually works, but not every time and you depend on others to fire rockets
as someone who has over 1.3k hours as a AA player, i can tell you right now "balanced" is complete bullshit helis bully every vehicle in the game including AA the very thing made to counter them, a fairly decent little bird or stealth pilot will shit on even the most experienced wildcat drivers and crews as long as they keep moving, the ability to flair as often as they do and the window of protection means that unless the pilot is a complete idiot and just sitting there then there is no such thing as "over extended" couple that with the fact that on most maps the aircraft have a crazy flight ceiling, they are 100% out of range for anything to hit them let alone make you a threat this makes 80% of the AA useless most of the time and your far more effective in an actual game running AT Missiles and grenades so you can poke other vehicles and deter them, which by the way unless the driver is fearless a double strike from the aa makes you way scarier to tanks and Transports then the very aircraft you're supposed to be countering because the AA missiles and Flack are completely useless unless a heli pilot is either stupid or sitting on top of you. In the current balance Jets and Helis Reliably dominate every leader board in almost every game i play on a daily bey massive of margins upward of 50-100 kills while in most games staying below or at a single death, This very fact let's most people visibly see through raw stats that the helis are way to strong.
This Rao logic only applies if you're the only player to be trying to take down the chopper. The more destruction that pilot inflicts, the more players will try to get a lock on with a stinger. This means the pilot will have to deploy flares and/or remove himself from the 'farming ground' more regularly. They will also have to deal with Sundance's Anti vehicle grenades which require flares to shake them off the lock. Rao's interference is the best way to keep the pilot distracted and minimise his damage

Interesting, I just started BF2042 on PC during the free weekend (and bought it, I tried the original open beta and hated the game but quite like it now) and started with Rao but was using him for mostly harassment on chopers so others could shoot him. Ended up switching to Lis later in the weekend and realized her TGM was the ultimate AA weapon with only the very best/observant pilots being able to counter (aka, they have to skilled and paying attention). I honestly don't see anyone else using her for that, most appear to be just taking the Stinger and hoping they can get at least one hit in. Great video laying all of this out, and it feels great clearing the sky and then watching teammates take advantage of it.

i think players should be rewarded for having good skills, like heli players but not completely invincible. Stinger/laser M5 are good until the pilots know where to hide, timing flares and hunt the source. Lis has always been the superior way in dealing with vehicles, with very high skill ceiling, almost as high as heli, one can even shoot down sundance providing enough practice. current antivehicle meta is Lis+Rosch+spawn beacon/med kit, stay in high vantage point, beaming every single vehicle.

I could not agree with you more. Liz is fun but takes a lot of time to get good at with her missiles. Being able to shoot without line of sight, save you from being noticed and surprises the enemy quite often, but also that takes a lot of practise. Great video!

When I wrote the script they hadn't been introduced. They are very effective against aircraft, but thankfully struggle a lot if you are on top of them. I think pilots are just going to need to keep their presence in their mind more and the jets are going to need to focus them more.
How is there no blurry on your afterburner, when I use Liz I get this extreme blurry effect making the vehicle almost invisble
I turned motion blur off in the settings. I'm also running on low since it maximizes my frames and doesn't look too bad. Hope this helps!
Anyway to increase the sensitivity/turn speed of the rockets?
You used to be able to increase vehicle sensitivity and that would work for the lissiles, but that was so many patches ago I'm not sure if it still works. Predicting their movements is what works best for me, with the regular sensitivity.

Honestly flares are so critical to flying, that not having them unlocked at first is brutal. Usually, I would never recommend playing against bots to unlock items, since it develops a lot of bad habits and is kind of boring, but for the flares, it might save you a lot of time. Just unlock flares in a bot game, then immediately quit out. You don't want to end up with a lot of wasted time farming bots and when it comes to playing against real players you can't adapt.

Some great tips! I still struggle with the low sensitivity while guiding it, and honestly too lazy to set up a DPS switch. Do you happen to know if there's a specific in-game setting that doesn't affect infantry aim but does affect the TGM sensitivity?
I use the standard sensitivity so I'm not 100 percent sure, but I've heard that upping the vehicle sensitivity counts towards the TGM sensitivity. Let me know if that works!
hey buddy, it uses vehcle sensitivity for some reason, so change that and youll be good.
You could buy a good mouse that has dpi switch built into it, i have the razor one pretty good

I don't know, I've seen a lot of people complaining about this unfortunately I am unable to recreate this. In my vast amount of chopper and jet kills I have only been denied like what you describe ~5 times, every other time it has been perfect. I thought it might be something to do with ping, but others have told me this happens to them, and they have great ping :/
