    Hi KELLY I really love your journal. I am enjoying your colouring too. When I first started watching you I was in New Zealand waiting to go on holiday to England.and I thought I’d like to do an art journal with random things of my holiday. Well I have been here for a few weeks now and I have started, and so very much enjoying each day I draw or paint . So thank you for your inspiration, your ideas, I have been to The Royal Festival Hall listening to Hans Zimmer Music and John Williams. And also the Ballet at Saddler Wells Romoe Juliet as well as visiting family, so you can imagine what a mix that would be . Thank you again Janice xx😊

      OMGoodness I am in awe of your travels and I can't imagine what a treasure your sketchbook is going to be when you are finished. Ticket stubs, receipts, fallen leaves, metal bits, they are all game when you are out on location. Have a blast and play each and every day, enjoy!

    Add my voice to the crowd of those loving your design thinking process. I usually only have one painting design at a time and have not thought about making the whole sketchbook cohesive like this. Fabulous! I am doing my 100 days of nature and enjoying painting small in my small sketchbook one thing at a time. A stack of rocks became 7 days of things. One at a time..NOw, after watching your thought processes I will look again and see if I can join them to the shells and leaves etc. THIS is wonderful! 🎉

    Kelly, to me this is your very best video yet. Your complete swatch chart is gorgeous, SO much range in your rainbow and pastels to bright colours. Amazing what you can get out of your new palette. Just WOW! ^_^
    But to get your design choices train of thought walkthrough for your 100 random things was truly fascinating for me. Like geeking out on fun things with a bestie. I hung on every word.
    Thank you so much for this great start to my day.

    Your work is beautiful and I love hearing you explain how and why you put things on the pages. I'm trying to remember what you've said as I work in my smaller sketchbook...yesterday I picked up some pretty leaves, moss, a piece of bark, on my walk and arranged them on two pages, keeping your ideas in mind. I painted and splatted water and the pages turned out pretty good. Later, when I showed my husband, he said "I'm noticing that there's a nice flow, a nice arrangement to these things, they aren't just plopped on the page." Hooray!
    Thanks so much for sharing this with us :)
    Sandy

      YEAH! I loved the responses your husband gave. I believe when you include intention along with your thoughts, the design flows a lot better. My students always say that I'm in their head, your comments made me think of that statement with a little giggle too LOL I love sharing and I'm thrilled you are inspired!

    And THANK YOU for your videos!!! I found you a couple of months ago. I love watching your videos and color schemes!! Kelly, thank you for sharing your first ten days with us!!!! It’s amazing the amount of thought and time you put into creating!!! The color combination of the leaves on the last page actually takes my breath away ❤ Are those colors in your pallette? How does one even begin to put a personal palette together??? I know what I like; but, I have wayyy too many colors 😬 I love your channel and I am really enjoying the classes of yours that I am working on 💖😘

    • @kellyhoernig
      @kellyhoernig  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for your kind comments and making me smiling thinking about them! The leaves are a mix of quin. burnt orange and a bit of (titan buff, apricot, hematite violet genuine and alizarin gold individually of course). I have a lot of paints too, in the hundreds really. If you watch the new Studio Palette Update that I released this month I show you the complete process I went through to narrow it down to 18 colors. And I'm thrilled you are enjoying my courses YEAH!

    Great video! I love your esthetic, and your 100 day challenge book is going to be gorgeous! I started a “daily art practice” sketch book and I’m challenging myself to use only my Kuretake Art Nuveau and Starry Colors paints. (I’m kind of obsessed with metallic touches currently.) I love your splash texture and I’ve tried it a few times but for some reason it doesn’t look the same when I do it. 😅.

    • @kellyhoernig
      @kellyhoernig  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much, it is so much fun already! I love that you are choosing specific paints for your daily art practice, it eliminates so many options yet let's you experience them to the fullest. On the splashing, make sure the piece is not too wet, it should have a minimal shine before splashing otherwise the water just pushes the paint to the edges. Hope this helps!

    • @dianacurrao8348
      @dianacurrao8348 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree a limited palette has really been helpful. I splash as soon as I’m done painting an object, so I’m probably doing it too soon while the paper is still really wet. I’ll try your suggestion! Thanks. ❤

    • @kellyhoernig
      @kellyhoernig  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dianacurrao8348 it will work much better as you see the wetness disappearing before splashing. Finding the perfect balance will depend on the moisture in your area also.
