    What about burping the system for air pockets? You didn't even go in that direction....

  • @elmarito007
    @elmarito007 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    If you are draining your coolant, my advice would be go all the way in with it: drain it, then get a quart of a coolant/radiator flush, then fill the rest of the reservoir with distilled water. Drive for a couple of days so the liquid flush can get all over the place, then drain it again. Depending how much crude u have in your system you might gonna have to repeat the process until you get clear water when you drain it. Then change the thermostat housing, use a coolant funnel with a stopper so no air bubbles will get in the system and then fill it with the new antifreeze.

    Do you think this video should have included loosening the air release by the thermostat before refilling or is that not necessary as long as you burped it with the funnel @a1auto

    • @RiviDude
      @RiviDude 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes they definitely put the wrong antifreeze in there. It's bad for your block especially if you have an aluminum one. If you poured in the green stuff and then it turned pink later it's because you were entire system was not flushed and there was a little bit still in there. It made the green stuff look pink or orangish. Major fail here

  • @Boostinpulsar
    @Boostinpulsar 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    You left the air pocket in the engine (you must bleed the top allen-bolt at the pump) and you mixed two different coolants which will most likely block up the system.

  • @galexander9857

    DO NOT do it this way. It is WRONG. The old coolant is still in the engine block and never got changed. I use a flushing-Tee connected to the hose from the coolant bottle, and put clean fresh water thru the system to flush it all out. Then I put 30psi of air pressure thru the block to push all the old remaining coolant and water out. Flush the rad and coolant bottle, put it all back together. Then open the bleeder valve on the top rad hose housing. Pour straight PINK MOPAR coolant into the Rad via the top Rad Hose. Keep filling the Rad until you see PINK liquid coming out the bleeder. Reattach top rad hose. Cllose bleeder. Put a 50/50 mix of coolant and water in the recovery bottle. Start engine, let it warm up. Open bleeder to let air out. Turn heater on; LOW fan speed, HIGH temp. Wait 15 mins or so, close bleeder. Make sure engine doesnt overheat. Check coolant level in recovery bottle.
