That’s a really tidy little job on that wheel arch, chap. Well done (without wishing to sound patronising)
Bookmarked the sweet treats website, as I will order from them in the future. Great video and content, you always look after your customers.
Never noticed a pile of rust on rear arch ... yeah ok lol
Ok I'll need walking through this one, why would I lie then?
@@ChopsGarageare you blind ?
@@1gerard47 had surprisingly few accidents driving if I am..
Sad to see your Black XF go, James.
This one's one is a keeper!
(and yes, if this one gets inlet manifold issues, we'll go to alloys, regardless)
Jags are so underrated. Everyone goes for BMW but the Jag is an excellent car. I loved mine. Mind you I’ve got a 575 bhp F Pace SVR now so it’s not all bad!!
Oh nice
@chrisaris8756 You must be a right old Lady Magnet with that throbbing supercharged V8 between your legs.. And i guess a company Director ? ( Pistonheads running joke BTW ) 💪💋💥
You can get metal (type) filler from paint shops, it's expensive and I've only used it on classics but rust won't come thru.
The metal intakes you can get from ebay and alike are actually more prone to earlier failure. I've heard this from 2 Jaguar specialists now - stick with replacing like for like with plastic again. Yes they break, but you're good for at least 10 years.
You did an ace job on that wheel arch!
thanks buddy
Can’t believe you got those sweets and didn’t open them when I was there lol 😂
Your a legend
The state you let the Jag get in to!😳 I had 2 they were brilliant motors .
Just goes to show people buy a 15 year old car but still expect it to look like new, I remember when looking at cars half that age to see if they still had a floor in the boot ! People’s expectations are unrealistic today.
Such a good point here
@@ChopsGarage when people agree to buy a ten year old (or even older) car that’s what you get a ten year old car, nothing more !
Bought a mk3 cortina for my friendfrom a main dealer had to sign a purchase form that stated I was buying parts My mate had it 10years other than servicing it was faultless
@@davebaker8362 You were lucky the MK3 4 & 5 were notorious rot boxes !
Chops ! The key inside the remote unlocks the spare wheel lock on the Vitara , independent of the wheel locking nuts , you drilled it off for nothing . Funny place to rust on the Vitara , must have been a bad repair in the past :-)
Oppps lol cheers for tip. 100 percent correct on paint. Idiots on here telling me rot was from rear! There was filler on front and the rust on surface. Someone had not zinc primed after repairing dent in arch.
I have always enjoyed your spraying vids from early days , you make it look easy , mine look like the neighbourhood tom has sprayed up whatever I paint 😅😅
Lok cheers
Once again I'm impressed by your bodywork skills, not to mention your pragmatic attitude to the loss. No use dwelling on it, just take the hit and move on. All the best.
Cheers!
I've got an XFS and absolutely love it, mines had the manifolds done. There's a company called KMS Motorsport in Wigan that supply or supply and fit alloy manifolds 👌
Those plastic inlet manifold’s are a disgrace for a car that costs thousands of pounds, the same applies to Land Rover and Range Rovers,by the way when they crack they don’t let air in they let air out as the turbo try’s to boost, the ecu reads the manifold pressure and because of the difference between the two manifold pressures it puts the vehicle in restricted performance, the alloy manifold’s are far better, never replace the plastic ones with the original ones.
Good upgrade
Your video's get better and better. Excellent work by yourself, well done.
Thank you very much!
Always look forward to your videos, chops. Top bloke. Cheers.
Much appreciated
Awesome paint job james but shocked you missed that but everydays a schoo day i suppose, wow the jag looked like its been sat for a few years loooking at the green on it but maybe its because it's parked under the trees, think youve done the right thing getting rid of a few bits that you haven't got time for👊🙂👍
cheers! I think you need to remember I'm dealing with over 30 cars a month though so it's actually very easy to miss bits
Great content as always. How are you getting on with your CBT and the bike? Would like to see a video of you going round the cones
I need to book
Not surprised at the "sellers remource" over the sale of the XFS. As an XF owner myself I think they are great cars - mines a petrol with alloy manifolds but it doesn't have the oomph of the S! The Suzuki did seem to have a lot of value for an old car but the used car market is still a bit strange. Personaly I don't think the Ital going would be much of a loss not BL's finest hour IMHO! Had a Marina in another life but was not a fan -should have brought an Escort.
Quick tip give it a light coat of clear first colour goes on heaps better after saves on materials🇳🇿
Oh but does the colour sit on the clear happily that way round?
Hi yes it does but depends on the system it gives it a hard base so colour sits better
Put the Ital up for auction for your charity.
I don't usually buy tickets but I would for this.
😂 So, a sweet finish on car sales well done James
Oh dear lol
Great video the bubbling easy done I guess
Cheers
James just for interest what is the grand vitara like underneath as my 2007 model was very rusty, rear wheel arches collect muck they all rot there.
Good no advisories
Kindest regards. Sunshine Coast,BC, Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Cheers
Oh no it’s gone !!
Some right wind up merchants on here today.
Where do you advertise your cars James?
Another good video James 🚗🚙🚘👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Sobbing my eyes out watching this... You sold MY Jag.... :)
Heart says I want it but pocket says I have a reliable diesel that's nowhere near as powerful BUT.... cheap tax and insurance and almost 60MPG.. I just know I would keep booting it and probably lucky to get 30's MPG on the Jag....
True
You really know your paintwork, I tried once and it was an epic fail lol
Practice bud
Well done with the suzuki, shame about the jag, but you cant keep them all 😢
Now you need to sell the Ital, Crabtree will know someone who wants it lol 🤣
Lol
That paint job looked really good bud.
Thanks 👍
@@ChopsGarage I use same primer bud, go thru loads, really blag it on, try hammerite grey stone chip in a spray you can really get some build with that.
@@ChopsGarage maybe wire brush behind the arch and mix shutz with oil, it'll stop it coming thru for ages
@@roystonvehicles9129 as we say mate the new ones down the road are 40k so I'll restore it for that 😂
@@ChopsGarage your getting like me bud, ha, ha.
What a bodge job on that arch and rust. You haven't fixed, you've done a horrendous bodge. How you didnt notice thst rotten arch before the customer the mind boggles.
The rust will be back
@davidnorton5887 100% and this surface rust thing is a myth. They rust from the inside out. If the outside of the arch is that bad, I'd hate to see what the inside of it is like. He didn't even remove the wheel to inspect
Honda spares man , What should he have done differently?
@@brianmonahan7990 a new arch has to be welded !
@@MaxMax-th7uz Ah right , ok , sounds like a big job ! Thanks for the advice 👍
Put the un finished K2 tins in the freezer, it will probably last a bit longer.
Money off and new paint? That’s nice of you. That would have been one or the other, if it was me.
It's top Money though for a 16 year old car. Cars never used to even make it that long before getting scrapped.
Grampys is going n Tik doing a live , he pics and packs your order live and has over 100 k followers 🎉
They last longer if you put them in the fridge after activating 2k cans
Cheers for tip
The rear arch is completely rotten and will only return worse the next time
Nope not at all. Rust was on outside from previous repair as noted in vid
That Vitara wasnt fit for retail
Chops I'm going for it. I'm treating myself to a new recovery truck save me some pennies by picking up my own stock. Not a brand new one maybe a new shape sprinter has to be auto ofcourse. Can I ask how much your rent is I'm looking for something similar to what you have its perfect for me apart from been 300 miles away lol
600 per unit. There is a subscriber selling a titling flatbed transporter
@@ChopsGarage what 1200 a month? That's unbelievably good value can't touch anything for that in leeds
Have you tried Joe at shifting metal or greg at gdb recovery as might have something possibly
@markfoden765 no most people with new mercedes auto recovery trucks don't sell them so I'm going to have to buy say an ex tesco van then get a new body made
Not a Car UK type Job, but good for a patch car dealer.
Not sure what you mean
@@ChopsGarage Good car my mate has one in Scotland 👍
Car UK is equally entertaining but Lee has admitted he doesn't get involved in any body work. He is more mechanical than CG.
@@timorridge3390 But he gets it sorted by professionals, both in his own garage and using associated trades.
I think where he comes out as being better is his wide knowledge of cars, their faults and fixes.
But both dealers seem to be honest and prepared to look after their customers in a fair way.
👍👍
Wow you missed that.
I'm hoping to get some feed back of maybe a car dealer please
I have just bought a 2013 rangy with 69000 miles first thing was the air-conditioning doesn't work he's agreed to regas so cool but the mot had 3 advisories on the suspension which he failed to mention then his mechanic...... if there is one has failed to record the service and the timing belt I'm worried he hasn't done it there is no proof I'm not feeling good I'm using this because I love chops garage and wish I could buy of someone like him
If he offered the cambelt as part of prep he should provide a copy of the receipts , always do. To reject it has not as described though I guess you would have to prove it has not been done.
@ChopsGarage thanks so much for replying I have just looked under bonnet and there is like natural dust on the engine compartment so its not clean or full of fingerprints ........he hasn't done it, I'm literally shaking. Sorry to unload.
Thanks again
@@morgansteele3158 I'd not base it on dirt my guys do belts and engine bay is still filthy. I'd insist on the invoice. His motor parts company can easily re print if he has "lost it".
@@ChopsGarage thanks your right
@ChopsGarage could end up being a good story for the channel I'll let you know what transpires

Great stuff eh
The best if you don’t have a compressor and gun
The buyer must have found a couple of grand in the glove box!
Or knew how much these cost
The Ital needs to go!
Don't know how you missed that.
Because I'd not valeted it , paid a chap. And I did not open doors when machine polishing as I don't create mess
@@ChopsGarage Was'nt in the door it was on the wheel arch.
@@robw6505 ?? Inside the door shut , clear as day in video
James, I've got an 09 Vitara 2.0 (91,000 miles) and the wheel arches on mine are so much better with no signs of rust...Think whoever owned that wasn't very thorough getting road-salt off when cleaning, as the plastic trims tend to hide the wheel arch area and hold salt/dirt.....Sorry to see the Jag go but looking at the state it was in it deserved a bit more love than you were giving it!....Look forward to your next buys 👍👍
It was from outside not inside. I think it had been scraped as noted some filler so they did not prep correctly, other side is bang on
I’ve sold and regretted too many times. Wrong customer. Too cheap. Happens twice a year even now.
I’m diabetic and I think my blood sugars went up just watching!! 👍👍
Lok
Can't believe you missed the bubbling James - not like you! Still all that ends well....
Looking like a trip to the auction with shifting metal?
Hopefully he goes with car uk instead, fed up seeing that wannabe actor
Surely £4750 or fix the arch? Not both...
Good point I should be tougher
If you machine polished that car how on earth did you not see that arch?!?!!?
Because I did not open doors to machine polish and valeter had previously done the clean, simples
Your stock seems to have gone down since your tax bill , hope everything’s ok
All good mate, you might remember the vid where I now have to split the stock at main dealer with another dealer that set up
Cant believe you missed that mate 😊
Paid a valeter on that one but easily done if in and out of multiple cars each day not just the one
Oh the Ital has to stay. They're getting rarer and yours looks like a good one. Still think it would make Brooke a good retro first car
Might get her in it
Lol at all these comments acting as if you're hiding rust on a 5 year old car... Its a 15 year old Suzuki, of course it's going to have rust! 😂
As you're well aware, a tiny stone chip can cause that sort of bubbling eventually, it doesnt mean the car is structurally scrap due to a small bit of bubbling in a concealed, non structural area...
Bang on bud! Telling me no such thing as surface rust! There had been previous repair and filler so looks like dent done but poorly prepped. There was only pitting on surface. And as you say why would I lie about not noticing?? I did not valet it my chap did and I'm able to machine polish without throwing crap in door shuts. Drama queens
nearly £5k for an 15 year old suzuki, wow, you must be a fantastic salesman. Good luck to the new owner, and if they are interested I have a bridge they might want to buy.
If you done research that’s the going rate, it was less than achievable actually
they must have been Americans ,or foreign ,5k .he never spotted that rott when buying .
@@derekfleming3095 well aren't I the fool, now about that bridge...
How much LOL
@@DeeKay84 yes you are. Just another bumping his gums for the sake of it, with zero knowledge of what they’re talking about
Almost five thousand for fifteen year old Vitara??? I paid £1000 for an 07 Avensis 2.2 D4D diesel (despite government lies about diesel fuel) three years ago and what a car! No problems in three years mot'd with only two advisories in all that time. What the heck has happened to car prices??
The Vitaras hold value far better than Avensis
You missed that ?
Yes
Stevie wonder couldn't miss that
@@honda.spares.man1what’s your channel about?
Specsavers will come to you .
@@honda.spares.man1 one would imagine that even a sighted person could miss it if they never looked in that door shut 🤣🤣
Did you get paid for the story in the Sun?
No , what on this?
you need glasses
Why?
@@ChopsGarage you said you never spotted the bubbling on the arch. you definitely need glasses. love your channel and wish you all the best.
Why don’t you offer a proper sales or return service out of interest? Charge a % to the customer for the service but instead of the customer doing the handover etc you do it all?
Because as a dealer you are liable for faults if sold from your premises. And you have the same overheads and advertising costs. So you therefore need to make full retail margin to make it worthwhile.
@@ChopsGarage fair enough. Place who sold my old car charged 2k and it helped me achieve about 7k more than I would have got trading in. But I guess with the smaller small car margins it would be harder to do
@@TRD1949uk 2k is more than the gross profit I make on sub 10k cars , net profits normally around £700
Sorry , but if I had that much rust on one of mine, I would be very unhappy.
? But it doesn't you have seen me remove it.
Need to cut and weld new metal in. Rust is like cancer.
You've bodged it @ChopsGarage
They all rust that way. Underneath is worse
I thought why didn’t he tidy that arch up before advertising it? But I guess it was an honest sale rather than hiding it as it is now
