Several weeks ago my wife and I were traveling from me to visit my sister in Kentucky. We watched your channel as well as the stable life all the time and wanted to stop in. We were camping so we decided to pick up some supplies at your place as a way of saying thank you for the videos you produce and I want to say the steak was fantastic it's nice to know where it came from. The most important thing I wanted to say was that Aunt Becky came up to us and started chatting. Unfortunately we were only able to meet her and a couple other people in the store but she was fantastic telling us about the farm showing us the window in the back that overlooked the area that a lot of the work is done and videos are shot. We just can't say enough how pleasant and kind she was to us taking the time to talk to us as long as she did. Of course this family seems very nice on the videos but you never know when you meet them in person and if aunt Becky is any indication as to how the rest of the family is we definitely need more people like this in the world. We will be passing through most likely again in September and look forward to stopping in and hopefully meeting more of the veggie boys and girls as well as Joel from a stable life. Keep up the great work we love your videos and respect the amount of work that you put into your family farm. I am glad no one was stealing from you.

Please make sure your mom teaches the younger generation how to can and preserve the food. I grew up with bone canned foods but was never taught how to can. The last 2 years has been all about learning for me and teaching my son how to can and preserve foods. This is skills that were almost lost and are making a comeback.

I thought I was being punked. Then one night I peaked around the corner after dark and me and rocky racoon came face to face and scared us both. He went away and left my flowers alone after that.

How about using Irish Spring soap like the fruit groves use? They leave soap in the cardboard, drill a hole through soap and box, and suspend it on a stake or post in spots throughout the garden. Worked great to save my chestnut tree from deer in TN. Saw this tip in a TH-cam by a grove owner. Cheap, too! Love your videos!

Hello Veggie Boys. So glad to hear you figured out why your vegetables are disappearing. As I recommended before, ya'll gotta keep your eyes on those root vegetables and keep at least a couple of cameras pointed at them. People come along and pull those veggies out of the soil, pocket the edible root and replace the green stalk back in the soil and move on. I gotta step outside and check the weather. My computer is doing that "Rain off and on." thing it always does at the bottom of the screen when things are beginning to rumble. You guys have a great Saturday and a great Sunday mornin' tomorrow.

I really enjoyed your video. You work so hard to put food on the table for everyone. Have you ever thought of using a sort of small seat on wheels to harvest in order to save your backs? They use them in other countries to go up and down the lanes between where fruit and veg grow.

  • @wranther
    @wranther 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Well now Andrew, one could envision as part of a well balanced lunch or dinner that your GranMa creates a new addition or two or three... venison stew, venison burgers, roast venison with red beet top salad as starters... Do the deer bother your cabbage or broccoli or cauliflower plants? Or if not, would their leaves dropped in the beet patch steer the deer to the neighbor's place rather than the freezer? So surprising to see such a fresh assortment of veggies so early still in the season. Your little one tho, with her "toothy" smile and giggle, growing soooo fast! She'll be dragging you to the fields before you know it! Stay Hydrated! -Bob...

My tnoughts, depending on the type of beets like if they are a sugar beet, deer will scower all over for sweet fruits I.E apples etc. i wonder if it is likely they are looking for a sweeter nibble. Some beets would have more sugar than others so that may also be why they are not consuming them when they pull them out.

sad how destructive the deer can be. I've mentioned in comments before that we had to raise the fence around our "orchard" (perhaps in a few years - but for now it's just young sticks with some leaves on them) to enable us to get plants to grow without being ravaged. Today, after seeing your blueberry patch, my new blueberry, blackberry, and grape vines arrived, so got them planted! Woohoo! Love you channel. Brings me peace of mind watching your family and especially watching Callie walking!!!

I made some kohltopf today. It is cabbage coked in a vegetable broth and then you take half of it out and place a huge patty of hamburger meat (spiced as you would when making hamburgers) and rest of cabbage on top and cook till all is done. It s a german dish I learnt from my granma a lazy way I guess of making stuffed cabbage lol

I also don't like the labor of making Cabbage Rolls so I have now make it using a recipe for Cabbage Roll Casserole.

So glad you have lots of stuff to harvest, even after some of the picking off. My next door neighbour has a cherry tree they never pick but, leave for the birds so that after they’re done with the cherries, they stick around to eat my vegetables down to the ground! 😡 Only tomatoes this year and hopefully some corn. Enjoyed your video…

I cut up cubes of Irish spring soap and put it out in my garden. It kept the deer away. I hung it on strings around the perimeter. It melts down in the rain but by then, the deer had moved on.

I grow dill every year and love it. In the Southwest my dill is a perineal

Grandpa is sporting some cool shades, 👀 good! It is so funny that deer are the red beet culprits. I was wishing that I could have a few of the beautiful veggies you harvested today. Excrpt the long hot peppers. I can't eat those. But pickled whole in 1/2gallon jars, would be very nice to look at. 😊😊😊

An electric fence will probably do the trick. We have to do that to our garden to keep the Deer, and Coons out. It’s a bit of a headache to put it up, but I think it will benefit you, and your time in the long run.
Love the videos. God Bless, and have a great evening.

I like that they understand how/when to harvest produce! So many people let their produce get old and HUGE.

Oh yes, deer love root vegetables. Other than about an 8ft fence, I don't know a solution. But, love your channel!!

Absolutely love dill. Already have 2 gallons of old fashioned dill pickles going. Can't wait to eat them in a couple days.
