I hooked my 7.3 up to my code reader when it started doing this and it didnt even have any check engine lights or anything and it did have one code in here and what the code i pulled read was glow pug on cyl #8 was not working properly so i had to get in the driver side valve cover and replace it and wa la it fixed it , i did up replacing my block heater , glow plug relay and the black and green little relay looking things next to it and made a world of difference . ohh and new valve cover gaskets while iwas in there too!
These things don’t hiccup often, but when they want to, it’s generally a glow plug relay or valve cover gasket. They carry the signal to everything that makes them go. I did have a fuel heater in the filter housing go bad once. Blew a max fuse under the hood. That was hard to find.
I know man, it’s crazy how they used to be built for the consumer to use and the trucks could handle it, now they just make a bunch of money off us while our trucks rust out and have small electrical problems and cracked plastic all the time 😂

With a diesel it doesn’t use spark plugs to ignite the fuel, it uses compression to heat the air in the combustion chamber hot enough to ignite the fuel. When it’s cold outside and the engine gets cold it doesn’t ignite until it gets hot enough, so the white cloud is unburned fuel. Once it finally gets hot enough from turning over and compressing air and making the cylinder a warm enough environment, it starts!
There will never be a truck like the 95-97 Strokes. Still have a 95 I use everyday.
It’s a shame manufacturers will never make vehicles as reliable and strong as they used to

Yes, usually have a little when it starts up, goes away within 30 seconds or less as it heats up and everything seals up!
