They sound fantastic here, didn't miss a beat. Shooting Star should have been HUGE... instead, when I search the band all I get is the Bad Company song. Most under-rate band ever (along with April Wine, Sweet, and a few others I forget).
I can't get over. how many people have forgotten bands like Shooting Star! They came across the airwaves and record stores in the late 70s/early 80s and rocked our faces off! I talk to old friends/classmates and they're all "Who?", yet we listened to the same stations. At the time, '83 I think, "Hollywood" was a rock station staple... and I can't remember the last time, outside of a playlist, I've heard that song. TONS of lost music from that transitional period, and it's a damn shame that Shooting Star is on the list.SO much talent! Great songs! Great music! I never got to see them live so thank God for You Tube!
I seen Shooting Star and April Wine in1983 in Denver,Colorado at Rainbow Music Hall,BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER SEEN OR HEARD,JUST KICK ASS ROCK AND ROLL THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.TO bad they closed the Rainbow Music Hall the sound was unreal only thing better is Red Rocks Amphitheater where the sound is out of this world and you can see the all the lights of Denver in the background,
Caught the same show at the Rainbow in Denver in 83' Was a GREAT show. No body sat down for the entire set. Just a kick ass RNR band that was on the cusp on fame but never really hit it big. Glad to see they are still out there doing shows!
We caught you guys back in the mid '80's when you opened for ZZ Top on the Eliminator tour and well, we HAD TO HANG ON TO OUR LIVES THAT NIGHT!!! Thanks for all of the memories and you guys are still THE SH**!!! Let me know if you'd ever have time to do a show in NW Montana, cuz I've got an indoor venue, radios for promo and a friend w/ a 40' van full of production equipment. Let's Go!!!
Nice to see I'm not the only one from the area that remembers this! I remember hearing this list on MN radio airplay: You Got What I Need Last Chance Flesh and Blood Breakout Hang On For Your Life Are You On My Side Hollywood Are You Ready The Whole World's Watching
@rms5366... Thats awesome, I have the song on cassette too, as a compilation of fav songs I recorded off FM radio. I'd have to drag the boom box out and that old tape to hear the song, until now. kK
In light of Jimi Jamison, from Survivor, dying. These guys opened for Survivor on the Vital Signs Tour show I saw at Palmer Auditorium in Davenport, IA.
I remember them coming through Minneapolis, MN on a double billing with April Wine. The albums being promoted were "Hang On For Life" and "Nature of the Beast".
Cannot be played loud enough. I actually think if you get stopped for speeding while this song is playing the cops automatically let you go. ....Well they should anyway....
Chuckie In Montana His stage name is Van McClain. One of the smoothest players I ever had a chance to see live during my misspent youth. I could tell stories....
They're a very talented band that never got the recognition they deserved.
They sound fantastic here, didn't miss a beat. Shooting Star should have been HUGE... instead, when I search the band all I get is the Bad Company song. Most under-rate band ever (along with April Wine, Sweet, and a few others I forget).
Man, the 80’s the boom box 12 d batteries a bunch of beers and this cassette! Miss those days
KSHE helped this band immensely. Much of their music covered the St. Louis airwaves back in the day.

If you ever want to floor it and drive your car off a mountain, this is the song to blast on your car stereo.
this is the first rock song i learned to play on guitar years ago
I would love to bring this band back to light. If anyone has a tab for this song please let me know. I play guitar.

I finally replaced my lost "Hang on for your Life" album from 81'! Turned my teenage son onto it, and he loves it! Now I'm loseing it to him!
I wore out many of these cassettes!!!!! Rock doesn't get much better than this !!!!!

A very understated band. They got quite a lot of airplay, here in MN. Too bad they came and went, as far as airtime went. Love em
Nice to see I'm not the only one from the area that remembers this! I remember hearing this list on MN radio airplay:
You Got What I Need
Last Chance
Flesh and Blood
Breakout
Hang On For Your Life
Are You On My Side
Hollywood
Are You Ready
The Whole World's Watching
I bought this song on Itunes for 69 cents. I hope they got their quarter! Sounds great on the IPod.

theshootingstarband.com/
I seen em with Jefferson starship in 8os in desmoines
I just flashed on the guy on lead guitar wearing a football jersey and kickin' butt, kinda like he is on here...
Chuckie In Montana His stage name is Van McClain. One of the smoothest players I ever had a chance to see live during my misspent youth. I could tell stories....
@Mominator Your going way over board! They only had this one hit & that was it! They had their moment in glory with this song....... that's it.....
Wrong, Hollywood and Flesh and Blood were minor hits for them also.
Plus Last Chance
