Green looks very fitting for the graceful lines of your hull. If you like it that’s all that matters. Don’t let silly superstitions cloud your judgement. You really are an inspiration, keep up the good work and thanks for the videos.
Green was supposed to be unlucky because a long time ago, drinkable water was stocked in barrels painted in green The green paint contained plumb which poisoned the crew. So green is supposed to be unlucky. Another idea is that clergymen were poisoned for a boat. The reason why is that the crew didn't want them to report what they did in other ports whith attractive women.
Don’t repaint her! Leave the green this year, and another coat or two and if you still think it needs changing do that next winter! She looks great, a real turn around, just get the boat in the water!
This is great! One video I've seen where you are talking about what is needed to be done and with what materials. Rather than talking about yourself or your wife and why you're doing this...like so many other videos (mostly American). So thanks!
The Quartermaster* Great job bringing her back to life! I'm for cream. More traditional and nautical. Either way, she'll look great when she's back in the water! Keep the videos coming!
You're obviously a bloody good amatuer or a tradesman painter you did exactly what I would have done she looks good a credit to ya cheers n beers Marty Australia nice to see someone cutting in
Ah cheers Marty Australia appreciate the compliment! :) Yeah, i'm a tradesman painter so done a fair bit of that 'cutting in' ! Thanks noticing though! 😁
Beautiful job. I like the green. I had a 27’ sail boat and painted the topside the same green, with a shark white antifouling bottom and bright white water line. The decks and cabin top were painted bright white too. I recommend keeping the green but when you repaint the bottom try the shark white.
Boat looks fabulous. & I have not heard of any green superstitions in all my travels. & have seen many beautiful boats with green livery. Nice work and love to see any old boat getting TLC and being restored
Of course green is ok, plus she looks fantastic. As for bad luck, ignore this old sailors tale. Our Sydney Harbour ferries are all green and cream since the late 1800's and have millions of safe kilometres travelled.
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic! What a great colour you have chosen. I love nearly anything that is green and this special colour (between frog, apple and grass green) looks simply amazing on a boat. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck and especially health to all involved people.
@@savingsusanna You're welcome, it's my pleasure. Thanks for replying and especially for giving a heart to my comment. I totally appreciate both very much. Sincerely yours.
I owned a 62 Pearson Ariel that I restored and I painted its hull above the water line in that blue color that Ted Turner used on one of his boats that won a big race a few years back. It was gorgeous and one of the prettiest sailboats I've ever seen. You'd have to check...it was a light blue I seem to remember with a little green in it....I'm colorblind so I can't tell but it should be easy to find. Beautiful job by the way.
I haven’t skipped ahead. But iv never given much credence to old sailors curses 😂 like green boats, bananas, or changing the name. The green is really nice & with the teak, it will give it a classic look.
Good to save a beautiful boat ,thanks for sharing. Greetings from beautiful tropical paradise island Kauai, Hawaii. I am hopping for you guys works well bring a classic design sailnoat. ⛵️
Cheers Dan! - I've also got a bus that needs painting, and i've gotten (most) of the welding done... That'll have to wait until next year (poor ol' girl!) - although i can use her so it's fine, just not very stylish! 😂 . Good luck with yours, i absolutely love going camping in her! :))
Once I started working with one colegue, he said that green cars are always breaking by laughing at me that I have one. Sold my green one, bought brown and cant say that it needs less work :D Try erasing this saying of your head and do what ever is beautiful to you. Green/brown wood remainds me racing car with a wooden steering wheel. Nice.
Ah, there you go! , and yes - i'd heard that about cars as well. It's all nonsense but i must say i seem to be subconsciously always keeping an eye out for other Green boats lol! 🤷♂️
I think the colour green being unlucky for boats is an old belief. As I understand it old mariners thought the colour green related to mould which would destroy their ships. The other belief was that green, being the colour of the land , was the fear of running aground. If you’re not superstitious paint it the colour you like.😁
I had a Marcon Mouldings Javelin 30 in the 1990s, it was in a beautiful dark green gelcoat finish. Never had any "bad luck" that I can remember with that. Hope you stick with the green.
To be honest I don’t like the color, but if you like it Rock it!! You should do what you like 🤟 it’s your boat and you should be proud of your hard work 🥰 greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰

Haha, yeah, i was justifying it hey! :)) Blue was certainly a consideration and would have looked great, i think she'll be staying Green now though, at least for this season. Cheers!
I think the green works. Maybe a white pin stripe to compliment and complete it. Symbolic it will also break the green (and hopefully the myth) as well. Good luck.
I thought green being an unlucky colour for a boat was very widely known, but in my view complete bunkum ! Green was an excellent choice for classic boat. Gold boot strip would complement it nicely.
Thank you. Another comment suggested a gold boot stripe too, i hadn't thought of it but i reckon it would look good.... Cheers!
A black stripe would also look nice
or even a white stripe, but definately a stripe of something.
I like the green and red. U make your own luck, dont worry about it 🍀
