Cool to see someone doing professional level composite work on TH-cam. I have watched so many of the "big" channels and cringed at the quality of their fiberglass work and their use of PPE. So cheers to vacuum bags and full face masks.
Thinking you might enjoy Mike Pateys Draco and Scrappy builds. He goes into great detail into how to get a perfect finish using carbon fiber as he builds his airplanes. I'm here because (I believe) of MJ sailing and their 42' cat build. They are also doing a good job and using PPE.
Clearly you dont know how bad it is then.. changing the structure that was designed specifically to have those bulkheads in those specific location. Is dangerous you can really screw things up doing that because you end up weakening the structure
Check Life On The Hulls, Ross does very professional work building a catamaran from scratch.. but yea know what you mean some channels just throw crap and see if it sticks..
@@DerekGraham777 nah. It'll be just fine. You sound like one of those people that think you need to put the stock tires on their car or "iT cOuLd bE dAnGeRoUs." Or you need to put the same brand oil in your car everytime you have an oil change or "iT cOuLd rUiN tHe EnGiNe."

As someone who grew up in New Zealand and has been around sailing yachts and fiber glass for many years, I will be watching with interest. Restoring that yacht is a great project. Looking forward to seeing her floating again. Greetings from Thailand.
I was skeptical or concerned at first by the scope of modifications you were planning. But you are making it happen. I am very impressed with the pace you are maintaining. And while I am not an expert it does seem like you are doing a pretty good job on everything. Anyway, my hat is off to you.
I followed Mike, back in the day, He was an awesome and admired sailor. Glad to see that Duracell is going to have a life again. I sail a 35' Cheoy Lee on Lake Superior. There is nothing like being out on the water with nothing but the wind noise and the boat boning her teeth, under full sail.
When I was building my F-9A tri in the early 90's, I used alot of cardboard and tape to do mock-ups of different panels/parts to make sure I liked the shapes. Then used those cardboard pieces as templates to cut the DuraCore, Carbon Fiber or aluminum. Some parts took many iterations before I got to what I thought was the right shape. It's easy to scribe on cardboard and it's cheap or free.
It's been a joy to watch you and your team work. So very cool. I'm 62 and for the first time I'm about to service/pull apart a 50+ year old turntable. So glad Magic Carpet linked your project!. Awesome so far on the build. Total respect for an expert shipwright from a 'hobbyist' (71)that built his own Longboard from scratch (bucket list 3 years ago) only to watch the resin coat going off before the cloth was fully wrapped. At least the board was finished, despite the rough colour flaws. Probably I should have used epoxy. It was an incredible gift john gave us
Yep MC has sent to a crazy build of a boat this is massive wow is an understatement looking forward to see this vessel come to light
This boat becomes a dream. It will be fast and comfy. I would plan for the easy to use rectangular wire conduits under the top and deck already now. Even with less computers the wiring will becomes extensive
Damn man this is insane,so lucky to have a part of sailing history
We are very lucky.
I really like your Project "Fast cruising vessel"!
Such a amazing work my friend! It's the new sister of Louise!
Hi Tema!! Yes, a sister of Louise! We hope you're doing well, friend :)
@@TheDuracellProject I'm great! I'm working a lot too as a Manga teacher now😅
Wow, I wish I had started watching sooner! It is so refreshing to see this level of attention to detail and also your use of PPE! I am such a PPE freak and it drives me nuts seeing so many other channels take a…relaxed approach to it. Definitely looking forward to following along!
glad to have you aboard!
Actually, I’ve been following you since the first episode, this is epic, throughly enjoying every second! You’re so talented and knowledgeable about what you’re doing here with your next boat, Louise was awesome and this one? Yes, it will be one of a kind!
Thanks Nena!
What to say??? CONGRATULATIONS.... I loved to hear your wife, at least I think she is, saying I love it and I can stand up with 2 inches .... A professional vacuum bag class... I really liked.
Absolutely fantastic stuff mate. I’m so glad you’re also putting the time to bring us this content
Thanks for watching...by watching you're helping us make this project happen :)
Good video. The sandwich foam and glass technique is very good, and your patience to do it correctly is great!👍. Looking forward to the next video. Well done.👍👍⛵️
Dude this is a lot of work done to perfection…nice job for sure
