    Rotation of cutlass bearing is shown wrong: th-cam.com/video/9pYoG1kUvMA/w-d-xo.html There should be a flat inner surface at the bottom; shown is a groove at the bottom. Installed with groove at bottom will result in faster wear.

    Did you even do any hull sounding/moisture checks? And wtf is that, cutting sections out of the hull(in an already thin hull)?? Won't that mess with the structural rigidity of the hull(That's not a kayak you're patching up)? Why did you cut a whole section out? Was an entire section of fiberglass that badly compromised? Did you guys even research boat architecture before doing this or do you think boat reclamation is an entirely aesthetic thing? What's going on here?
    I wouldn't take this thing out for any bluewater cruising or anywhere where the seas get rough.

    • @sailingwicked
      @sailingwicked  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The section cut out was completely rotted or compromised. We could have cut 100 holes or done one solid repair. Clearly not a kayak… Tons of research was done, had someone with experience working with us and our surveyor was involved during the process.
      If you go back a few videos you’ll learn that she was Hurricane Damaged and we won her at auction. Putting in the work ourselves was probably the only way we would be able to afford a modern sailboat. Soooo no it’s not for aesthetics lol.
      Thanks for the concern

    • @jackhawthorn4799
      @jackhawthorn4799 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sailingwicked fair enough but i still wouldn't take it beyond coastal waters or at most the caribbean if you're careful about it/time it when the sea is calm - I wouldn't attempt an ocean crossing in it. On it's own terms, i can see how it might be a nice home away from home/pleasure craft for the holidays. Btw, i recommed you use a paint called CopperCoat for the hull to keep it in good condition - sea life can never get a purchase on the surface of it or penetrate it, so all you have to do is scrape it off the hull every few months with a plastic spatula and it falls off with no effort or scratching of the paint, plus should only require painting every 10 years or so. This will save you a lot of money in the long run in terms of hull maintainence.

    • @eurotrash4629

      Looks like a flip boat. Will be buyers problems. Pretty strong argument against buying anything w/ hurricane damage history.

      @@jackhawthorn4799 Have a look at Sailing Dauntless and the repairs that they have done to a Leopard 50, all sanctioned by the factory's naval architect and insured! If the repairs were done with Epoxy to the factory lay-up schedule or better then that part of the hull is stronger than the rest.
