I just beat Valkyria Chronicles 2 two days ago, and I absolutely loved it. All the other games in the franchise take place during the same war, but this one takes place during a civil war after the events of the first game.
I played Dark Cloud 2 without having playing the prequel, and I loved it so much! I couldn't get enough of it with the world building mechanics and monster badges. I guess not having any prior knowledge of the previous entry worked like a charm in my case.
Yeah that totally makes sense! Honestly I think a lot of people would like the 2nd one more, I'm probably the odd one out. But anyone enjoying some Dark Cloud is a win in my book
@@platinum_vault yep I'm the same way! It's pretty uncommon for me to outright say "I'm done with this". Instead they just sort of fade away, until maybe one day I come back or maybe I don't. Thankfully there are so many good games all the time, so we can't spend too long worrying about the ones we stopped
Great video! I really loved the note for SMT3 :D. I need to play both VC1 and Dark Cloud 1 I remember back in the day I was always fascinated by Dark Cloud but never really attempted it. We are all so lucky to have so many great games to play!
Mario Galaxy 2 I burned out on because I was playing all Mario games back to back and Galaxy 2 is so derivative of the original, but without the charm, that I just stopped my all Mario quest right there.
I love Dark Cloud 2 but I do agree there is a lot going on, I'm on a semi-permanent hiatus from the game too. I'm super close to finishing but there are so many missable trophies that I can't finish the game without locking myself out a bunch of them :( I have like 10 - 20 hours of grinding before I can progress the story lmaoooo. I think its a great game but its one that I have to go back to :)
@@LukaLukaLukaOfficial2 same! I haven't even looked at the trophies tbh, all my experience is coming from the PS2 version! If I go back to it again I'll almost certainly do the PS4 version and I'll just have to follow a guide :P
I have told myself that lie, "I will get back to that". I cannot remember which games, but I remember the feeling and thinking it. (no spoilers) I get why you put down shin megami tensei 3 at the terminal part. It is that part where it start to be a bit harder to navigate the map, because of the fragmented nature of Tokyo. I got the game about 15 years ago and it was beyond my understanding, but I picked it up a few months ago and all my persona knowledge got to shine :) I like the game, through I hate the late game labyrinth designs because they are tedious and not because they are challenging.
Love the SMT3 story. I definitely knew I'd abandon certain games after starting them - Owlboy, Inscryption, Hi-Fi Rush come to mind. Just wasn't the time to play through these games
Dang though whenever you are in the mood, Inscryption will be a great time! I also abandoned Hi-Fi funny enough. I was really enjoying it but just fell off for some reason. Owlboy I don't blame you on either, that game is pretty slow :P
I started and dropped both VC2 & Bravely Second earlier this year; not out of any dislike, I thouroughly intend to go back to both! I agree about the VC2 maps though. Its a shame because it is such an impressive sequel in so many ways but they cant cover for a dip in the core gameplay. I'd really recommend going back to Dark Cloud 2 (we call it Dark Chronicle) and SMT sometime. Its different strokes for different folks but those are two of my all time favourite games and I will unreasonably demand everyone else love them too.
Dark Cloud 2 is the one I'm mostly likely to go back to. It's the type of game I know I can really get into if I'm in the right mood, so I think it's only a matter of time. Plus, I mean, with your demands being so unreasonable... do I even have a choice?? :P
@@femtrooper thanks so much for watching! It's fun to try and push through and finish games, but sometimes you just need to call it! Glad we're of a similar mindset!

That's awesome you finished it! Congrats

Great vid. I'm struggling with DQ11. Been playing on and off for years. It just kind of drives me nuts.
Oh dang! DQ11 is one of my all time faves but I totally get it. Some games just land differently for different people
I have a lot of games that fell off. Lol
It's easy to do lol no shame there
