    Seeing an IRL friend devolve into toxicity is just heart breaking.

    This is why you don't raid with your FC members or friends unless you are really on the same level and have the same goals.

    Listening to this story is almost a direct reflection to my experience of my first time savage raiding in this expansion. I totally understand the OP on this one

    Should just play with people that have like-minded people. Goals change, it sucks tbh cause they are IRL friends but if they wanna be competitive or whatever and you don't, it's in the best interest of this OP to stay away and find a group that will fit their needs.

    • @petree
      @petree ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With that being said, groups should always reevaluate after a tier to see where everyone stands and see if they all have the same goals still to avoid any future issues

    15:10 i agree with that to a certain extent but what helped me was someone going through one of my fflogs and walking me through the steps i could do to improve. they basically took logs from someone else who had a high parse and compared it to mine to show me the differences and then did the same thing in xivanalysis (i preferred xivanalysis because the timeline is more visual). and you basically use that as a template for improving. i'm still not the best but with their help i went from normally parsing greys to almost consistently green which is fine by me. they also recommended some plugins and stuff to help with ping and keep my dots up but like. yeah i'm not gonna do all that. like yeah it came down to me putting in the effort in and wanting to improve but i just didn't know how until someone showed me.

    I don’t know what’s worse… Toxic RPs or Toxic Log players.

    Back in 2.0-2.4 I was in an FC that was near the top. We were having fun being 2nd or 3rd on the server to down the first couple of coils of bahamut. Unfortunately we had one black mage who was incredibly toxic like this and it eventually led to the full disband of the FC. It soured my experience and I quit playing until heavenward and started over, but the feeling was not the same. I still come back and play, but I always remember how fun it was originally more fondly.

    me and my friends went to clear Endwalkers first extreme when it came out, I was playing whm and thought I was doing alright. I wasn't able to dps much because people kept getting hit by everything and my co-healer refused to heal anyone so I was constantly spamming healing and resurrection. After a few runs with only damage co-healers we cleared. I Felt pretty accomplished since I was new to harder content, but one of my friend then posted the logs in chat and flamed me for having low damage, it ruined my experience and still up to today has put me off of doing harder content.

    I never understood the 'flexing' culture in this game. When I see someone with a shiny ultimate weapon I think nothing of it. So I really don't see the point of 'showing off' to people I don't know or care about, or people I do know or care about. I will dress as I want my character to look like. If people think is basic..... eh... doesn't affect me. Is my experience what matters to me after all. People who care about what others think of them is kinda sad xD

    OP's friend just like my raider friends, everytime we forms a PT on PF every time ppls coming in, they will announce on VC or cwls that person's parse number. Me, as usual will just oh! lemme just do mnk ZERO parse to cover that person number then!! w/ that, they always tone down and eventually dropped the convo lol

      if you just want the raid story, just do the normal mode of the raid, it's very casual and ppl join via roulette

    See, what you said about how you transition from wanting to give up to wanting to get better is the mentality alot of high end raiders have in most games ive played. Honestly, if that isn't your mentality I would just stay away from high end content in MMO's in general (nothing wrong with that, I dont do it anymore cuz its a time sink). Im newer to FF, but I'd imagine the more hardcore content has dps checks that make knowing your dps and improving on it very useful (if not nesessary). That being said, logs and meters are tools to improve at the top end of content. If you are using those tools to harass players in normal or mid core content you arent being helpful, youre just being an asshole. In the same way, if you are in high end content and refusing to accept constructive criticism or attempt to improve in any way than you are holding the group back, being selfish and also and asshole. She is spot on, find the type of content that is the right fit for you with people that have a similar goal and mindset and have a blast doing that. Player friction usually happens when goals and mindsets collide (this a long way of saying stay in your lane lmao)

    The ironic thing is that the friend who cares so much about parsing values early logs that are gear dependent. Actual raiders know that logs before week 8 dont matter anyways as even perfect play cannot compete with gear score.
    Also hating on pugs is dumb, I parsed top 100 globally on my job pugging most of last tier. It makes no difference, good players will parse high through good play regardless.

    • @CTN404
      @CTN404 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    • @ZeroXIV
      @ZeroXIV ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CTN404 it's to highlight that op's friend bashing on pugs while being parse minded contradicts itself you can parse high inside pugs it makes 0 difference myself and plenty of other pf regulars do it.
      I love that that's the only thing you took out of that statement though. Do you read science papers and congratulate them on their careers too?

    • @cyphi474
      @cyphi474 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. It is gear dependant, therefore it lose all value as comparsion tool. Whats the point comparing yourself to someone who already has best gear available? Ofc you cant compete and ofc you cant really meassure your performance that way. Its pointless number, since you dont compare yourself to people with same gear strength, you compare yourself to entire base and what a surprise, highest numbers are players with best gear...

    Raiding in this game is just a toxic mess. I will never raid. It's not even fun to me anyway. This game got 2 groups of players. The story / rpers and the raiders. Completely different mindsets and attitudes.

    Tbh this can be understandable if this group has evolved into a HC group. I actually don’t think a HC checking and requiring decent log is a crime. If the group is a C~MC but shit talk log in public is kinda lame…. A friend group becomes like this is very normal imo since ppl can change their expectation after a few tiers. The static I ran since eden broke up this tier since a few of us wanted to be MC (like how we were aka clearing tier week4~6) yet the other half claims they were MC but way more casual to the point where ppl caring abt hanging out more than clearing contents. It happens unfortunately.
    As for fflogs I had the same issues but later on just w/e lololol. If I can drag our group through a reclear for the entire tier in

    Ah yes the typical story of logs bad raiding bad casuals good. Im sorry but i feel like this story was a bit one sided and it felt like the story was bringing a point of logs bad than actually telling the story assuming it happend ofc.
    Also i read in chat "ye i lost a friend bc of raiding im not raiding anymore bc of the raiding being so toxic" but tbh if u guys are friends like actual friends and the game and a little banter make u lose said friends then u guys werent friends in the first place. Not to mention raiding as friends is already wrong u either raid togather but when u are in the fight u guys arent friends for that time being or dont raid with ur friends if u cant do that.
    Logs raiding casual which ever playstyle they all have toxic shit in it no matter what it is.
    Alot of ppl are very sensitive to critic and thats the issue they are not ready to what raiding requires from u and some in the ff community takes any critsism as toxic and elitest how dare u tell me what to do type of shit then they stop doing it even tho that content requires it.
