    I’m a „Switcher“. Sometimes I play portable, sometimes docked. The only Reason for me the OLED Switch is interesting is the Screen. But it’s ok for me not to have it. I’m happy with the Og Switch and I can put my money in Games.

    • @chadweirick

      That is kind of my point of view on the switch OLED. Mine lives in a dock. I know some people rarely or never use theirs in a dock. I just don’t see enough of those people looking for an upgrade. I also can’t imagine that many people have been holding off and then will go for this especially after all those switch pro rumors.
      That being said, anyone looking to jump into the switch this late in the game will certainly get a nice screen etc. I just can’t quite figure out who this is for other than this last group and a few groups that I think are very niche.

    I honestly don't get people buying a second switch for portability reasons, the console is already portable and the lite isn't that smaller, sure it can fit a big pocket but you're not going to carry it around on a pocket, and if you throw it in a bag then it's literally the same if you had a regular switch

  • @ActionJaxonH
    @ActionJaxonH 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    The auto save sync absolutely works flawlessly. The catch is, on the new system, you have to manually redownload the first time. THEN it auto syncs. You can do all your games in rapid fire from the menu.

  • @Archivist42
    @Archivist42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +242

    Appreciate you doing the burn in test! Tbh, if that scenario you created didn't result in burn - it's hard to imagine a normal user being impacted for a long time. I think the best thing is to just leave auto brightness on really, there are a lot of smart compensations for OLED burn in now you just have to not disable them

    • @Wft-bu5zc
      @Wft-bu5zc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Auto brightness is super dark on the OLED, so that's probably not a reasonable solution (and not necessary). Turning it on kind of defeats the purpose of the beautiful bright OLED screen. I keep it at about 2-3 clicks below max brightness.

    There’s a difference between “burn in” and “temporary image retention”. Burn in is incredibly rare and takes thousands of hours over a span of years to develop. Temporary image retention can happen more rapidly, but, it’s only temporary and goes away as the pixels refresh. So no, your screen isn’t “ruined” if you happen to develop image retention.

    I oddly go from console to console, so if I'm not on my "switch" stage it usually just sitting in the dock waiting for me. But when I do get something on my switch to play I'm always almost in handheld mode. So I was really considering the Lite and passing my switch to my sibling, except that it doesn't support video output of any kind which kills off any chance of streaming Switch games. The OLED screen makes this really attractive to me and since I have the original v1 switch, I'd also get the power and battery boost from the v2 switch.
    But like you said, I guess I'm going to have to deal with a big headache about transferring games first...not to mention I'd probably have to re-buy some games so my sibling can play them on their own.

      It gets rid of the issue of trying to play downloaded games on different consoles. The only thing you'll still have to do is transfer your save data back and forth depending on which system you're using. Any system will play the same physical cartridge with no issues. But the save data obviously isn't stored on the game cart, it's on your system/sd card. So you'd need to be uploading save data to the cloud regularly and downloading it again each time you want to resume a game on a different console.

    The PlayStation 5 has a feature where you can transfer save data, games, and certain applications from your PlayStation 4 that is quicker and easier than reinstalling and redownloading everything. PS4 and PS5 allow backing up all data, minus some obvious exceptions to a usb. You can browse and purchase games for both consoles on your phone and, if given permission can install a digital game you purchased while you are not home for you so it is ready when you return.
    Also, you can play the same game on either console without issue of you playing say DOOM (2016) on the PS4 and then play it an hour later on the PS5 on the same account.

    a whole video talking about the new nintendo switch's issues, 20 minutes long, no fucking timestamps. Sorry, but I hate when people do this, I haven't gotten into the video yet but when I see this it feels like an unstructured video without actual talking points. Also, OLED burn-in is not nearly as easy to run into these days. Keeping something open for days without changing anything is where you run into problems, and I can't imagine someone actually gaming on the switch as it is for days at a time in the exact same game without turning it off for a couple of hours at a time every once in a while. On some OLED screens, it can take 4000 hours before you run into burn-in I've heard. He makes a couple of good points but I'm sure that there are a lot of people still buying this model as their first switch, like myself.

    I would totally buy the OLED switch. It looks almost perfect for me. Barring one thing.
    I have 4 Switches in this house. 2 for my kids, one for me to play at home, and one for me to take away with me when I travel for work. So the one that stays at home, stays permanently connected to the dock. So I use this for playing online, and so would benefit from the wired dock.
    But, my travel one is a launch switch, running CFW. I don't want to take all my game carts with me when I travel, as if I lose my switch, that would be bad enough. But to lose double the switches value in games too, that would be hard. So I buy a game, dump it, then stick it on my travel switch to play when away. So this switch is always played handheld, and so would benefit from the increased battery life and the better screen. But obviously can't put CFW on the OLED. Yet. As soon as that's figured out, I'm all in on an OLED.
