Just yesterday my 2003 Camry 2.4 was idling super low and stalled out a couple times. Would jerk on acceleration and lots of vibration at idle. I did not have a check engine light. I followed the steps of this video and my car drives way better than it ever has thank you !
Got my car running again! It's been a year since I had the idle issue and thought it was a bigger problem. Did everything exactly as you did on this video and paid off. Saved me some labor $$ , learned something new and got the car back on the road. Thank you. .. p.s. my sensor was filthy!!! Lol
Holy cow that worked so well. I have a 1999 4 cylinder and I used the same principle. It was struggling to start for the past couple weeks. Did this and it started perfectly
Thank you so much for posting this video! Your detailed camera work was really helpful. My son and I were having trouble disconnecting the connector for the MAF sensor, but now, with your video, we should be able to do it without any issues. I just subscribed to your channel!
We have couple of Camrys, this video so helpful. We had a Volvo, MAF Sensor replacement was $500 just for the part, 20 years ago! Hope to keep the Camrys going for many more years. Thanks for the upload, no nonsense and informative, what's there not to like? BTW that long pry bar with the seat accelerator micro adjustment, pretty cleaver.
I have 2002 Camry LE 4 Cylinder. When I start my car the rpms are high(2000 or more) for a few seconds and then come down to about 900 to 1100 and then it starts to idle very rough to the point it sometimes cuts the car off or shakes pretty hard. It does this for a few minutes then it either stops idling hard or decreases significantly. When I am driving it runs great but when I stop my car starts to idle a little rough but not much and not constantly. What should I do to fix this? I was told it may be the "Throttle Position Sensor" it only does this when I am starting the car for the first time in the mornings Thanks for your time and help
Hello, I’m doing this soon on a 2014 Camry 4 banger… is it electronic?. Another video shows him cleaning the blade and opening it by hand… thank you..:)
@@MrRangerZr1 Thank you for the video. I'm excited that I might be able to do this with just the one clamp instead of removing a bunch of stuff from the air tube first like I saw in another video.

I’m getting this very experience now! Going to do this tomorrow.

Today I learned you can clean maf sensors. Thanks mr. ranger!

Simple and straight to the point. Thank you!

straight to the point video , simple and easy to understand , good .
This was so simple and clean..thank you man. I will.do this tommorow.
What type of padding do you have underneath the battery tie town. I need the same thing. Mine has a gap like that too.
thanks for the video, curious why car ignition needs to be set to ON? the throttle opens up just by flooring the pedal
I installed the maf sensor before it was dry. I also accidently sprayed it with throttle cleaner. Engine light is on, any solutions?
Try resetting the check engine light. If it comes back, you may have damaged the sensor.
Hi, MrRangerZr1. extremely awesome video. thank. :)
I’m having a similar issue with my 03 2.4. Going to try this and give an update. Wish me luck this car has been a nightmare lately
Update?
@@chitoman1 sold it. Was never able to solve the issue even after doing what was done in the video.
Do you have to reset anything after doing the cleaning? Do you have to have the negative battery cable disconnected while doing this as well?
No reset needed, just let it idle for 10 mins. Keep the battery connected as you need power to open the throttle body plate.
Am I supposed to clean the butterfly plate as well? What happened if I accidentally moved it?
Be careful with the plate open, don't move it.
@@MrRangerZr1 Would it be best to have someone pressing on the brake while I'm gently wiping it?
@@SteveL11 Gas pedal* yes that's easier
@@MrRangerZr1 Gas pedal, 😂 totally mixed that one up.
Nice and quick. Thanks. What year is camry?

Most likely dirty throttle body. Try this.
Thanks! I have 05 Camry I'll do the same one clamp to work on🙂👍
only one clamp to removed like this video or removed other plastic stuffs like air filters housing in other
videos.
Thank you. Great video.
Hello, I’m doing this soon on a 2014 Camry 4 banger… is it electronic?. Another video shows him cleaning the blade and opening it by hand… thank you..:)
Yes. With the power source disconnected, you can slowly open it by hand.
Great video.
What about spraying directly into the throttle body? Is that also effective? Or do you recommend only spraying onto the rag and wiping?
No only spray onto the rag and then wipe
@@MrRangerZr1 Thank you
You don’t have to remove air filter box? Just the single hose clamp?
No need. Just need the intake tube out of the way.
awesome. Thank you.
If my car doesn’t accelerate until I push the pedal half way down, is the throttle body what I need to clean or is it something else
Try cleaning the throttle body and check the air filter
Ist a problem to remove the whole TB and clean it outside then put it back?
Just don't reuse the TB gasket.
@@MrRangerZr1 where us the MAF on 97 Camry?
@@garytaylor2601 It doesn't have a MAF sensor only MAP
Is that a 2004 LE?
2003 LE same thing

@@captainstress it's really easy as you saw
@@MrRangerZr1 Yep, it was easy. Just finished. Thank you for giving me the confidence to take on this task!
Toyota made it more difficult to clean on the 2008 se.
More or less same process.
I have a 2009 and it's exactly the same
2013 RAV4 same process but that clamp is very difficult to reach and access.
