Good video, if you have no one to help you, just disconnect the battery, and do the rest on your own, no check engine light no codes, no harm done as long as the battery is disconnected, i did that on my, camry, my corolla, with no problems at all, the computer will reset and rpm will get back to normal after a couple of hours of driving.

Well u lost idle memory when u took out the battery check my how to replace batttery videos anyways. Turn everything off wiper lights radio all accessories off and start the car and let it idle for 20 minutes let me know if it builds idle. If it dosent then I’ll give u more instructions

Be careful with your fingers. After i do the fix as show in the video i read on reddit that if your finger its in the way and the throttle close it can slide the finger with no problem 😅🙆🏻♂️ thanks god i read that after i finish doing the work 🤣🤣
I have 2010 toyota corolla. similar throttle body top right cornar there is a screw hidden in a glue type material. can you please tell me, what is the function of that. and how it help in adjusting a specific parameter? I have observed that changing the position of that screw make throttal pedal to respond differently and effect the drivability . I have an issue of poor idling. throttle body is cleaned. every possibility has been checked but could not fix the issue.

@@RBTheMechanic sorry i did not understand what do you mean by load on flap? one person told me, that in toyota corolla electronic throttle body this screw is to raise or lower the idle RPM, but in my case I have observed that rotating clockwise it reduces the RPM but at certain point further clockwise rotation of screw again start to increase the Idle RPM, still confused how to check and verify the optimum position of screw and how it perforn its function? also trying to search service manual of electronic throttle body on internet but could not find.
That might be somthing else or transmission related but this service is good to do it will keep the preformance of throttle response better so go for it and it dose send siginal to transmission module to shift accordingly so go for it!!
When the engine is warm and if I let the car sit for 10 minutes and restart the car, the idle drops to 500 rpm for 1-2 seconds, runs rough, and then the idle smooths out? Any idea what could be causing this issue? I cleaned the MAF sensor, throttle body, replaced the plugs, coils, ECT sensor and crankshaft position sensor, and it still does this. There is no CEL, crank time is short and no noticeable drop in gas mileage.

Yes sir only other thing I’m thinking is the throttle body I changed wasn’t a brand new one it was a from a different Camry we have that no one uses maybe I need to buy a brand new one ? The only code that came up at first was the p0420 for catalytic converter and that’s when the car starting giving me issues turning off / rattling when accelerating then that’s when the throttle body code came on . 🤦🏻♂️

This can be the issue or engine mount. Try to notice where ur rpm is when ur idling and it’s vibrating if it below 700 then u can say this is the issue
That did not work , I tried everything I can think and see, spark plugs, clean throttle body, transmission fluid and filter change, idle relearn, and still my camry will shake when at stop light on D
@@RBTheMechanic i have same issue please help, my corolla 2020 drove 70k km only, when i stop on red light pressing the break the passenger seat vibrate also same R reverse, so i use two legs for accelerate with break the vibrate gone. I went to 5 mechanics they do very deep inspection like for engine mount transmission mount all looks good even all 4 break pads changed and rotor cleaned the sound comes only by pressing the break at ideal or red light stop or parking, one mechanic request me for throttle clean but i was afraid it may cause me other issue.
@@RBTheMechanic 2009 Corolla, 96K miles, it has a intermittent low idle at stop lights, like around 500rpm, at this low it's not running smoothly, no error codes, runs good when accel and cruising. I cleaned a MAF and throttle body. While driving it I notice a few things. Seems fine when cool and not up to temp yet. Seems worse on hot days. When it happens (very low idle), putting the tranny in neutral pops the idle back up and smooths out (about 750/800rpm). Air filter is new. Next I am going to check/replace the plugs. Maybe try the O2 sensors next? Check for vacuum leaks.

I literally had this problem today. My wife called me in a panic stuck in the road in traffic. I instructed her to shut off and put in gear and try to get the car off the roadway. She did and she waited for me to go pick her up. I searched out this issue and got to your video. Did exactly what you instructed and it worked. The valve wasn't all the way opening. Cleaned it with the cleaner (not exactly the same can but one that was a good substitute) worked like a charm. Thank you. Thank you. Got better acceleration and just runs better just from that. Great job pm explaining the detachment of every connector. I've been a boiler operator/mechanic, a rocket surgeon, and now I'm on my last gig before I retire doing logistics for a chip maker. I know how to follow instructions. But far too many of these videos leave out or gloss over a critical step. I don't know why- if you doing a How-to, it completeness that matters - not the background music or cool intro. I'm just watching this for like the third or fourth time, right before I pull that assembly so I don't end up with a mystery connector, or spend an extra half hous because I disconnected the wrong side of something, and irmt just struck me how well you covered the one indispensable sequence clearly and succinctly Kudos! Update Wouldn't you know it, just as I got to thr last clamp, the rain ppen up and the wind kicked up. Ducked.back in the house to warm up and dry out.
Wow this was a super simple procedure and worked great on my 2011 Carolla with 186k miles! The engine seems to run much smoother and idles at a higher RPM (around 1000). Thank you 👍🏻

Thanks. I had the low rpm issue(down to 500 rmp) especially when turning on the ac. after the cleaning it the low idle is gone and engine is smooth 800- 900 rpm.

Hello! Please help, i performed the throttle body clean as you instructedon my Camry 2008, but now the car jerks when idle, especially when the car is in Drive and i have the brake pedal pressed. I've trid idle relearn procedure but no luck, any suggestions? I notice the RPM gauge is jittery and spikes up slightly. Car drives fine, but that jerking & shaking when idle is not normal, please help.
My 2015 camry le idles at 800 rmps when it's on park but when I put on drive or reverse it drops to 500 or 600 rpms and it shakes and the has turned off when I'm at a stop sign or red light.
My car idles poorly on drive and reverse gear with my foot on brakes, I feel vibration on my steery and dashboard while idling. It idles at 600rpm to 550rpm is this normal, with so much vibration n gets worse when I turn the ac on still on drive or reverse gear but reduces a bit when I put my car on park gear n vibration disappears when my car is moving n comes back when I come to a stoplight. I think, ama give this a try and see if it solves d issue.
Friends 2013 Rav 4 experienced similar issue. I cleaned maf sensor, changed battery. Keeps shutting off. Friend brings to Toyota mechanic and says its the throttle body so he cleans it. Week later, car keeps shutting off again at red light or stop sign. It’s not the throttle body! Brings Rav 4 back to me and I was going to pull spark plugs. Instead I check oil level. I checked the dipstick; there was no oil at all on the dipstick. I’m scratching my head. I ask: where do you get your oil changed at? Friend says Toyota dealership. I ended up having to fill with 3 quarts oil and immediately car idled better and rattle at startup went away. Took for test drive, car drove great and didn’t shut off. Simple but important fix: Folks, Check your oil level regularly especially after an oil change to make sure they put in the right amount. Go to a trustworthy place that will take care of your car properly if you can’t or don’t work on your own vehicle. I’m thinking either incompetent mechanic or intentional sabotage! 3 quarts short? Hmm. Makes me wonder! This mechanic is good though, I like the way he walks you through the repair. Good video and explanations paired nicely!
@@RBTheMechanic I checked underneath . No oil leaks anywhere. I find it impossible that it burned through 3 quarts. Only 100,000 miles on it and they are meticulous with the cars oil changes and maintenance. I agree RB: I gave them that advice: check the oil level weekly, monthly. Going forward, I will be doing their oil changes from now on and monitoring this “mysterious” oil shortage. Thanks for the advice. Keep up the great work with your videos!!!
Nice explanation. I have a problem with 2017 camry. It used to vibrate (as if driving on rumbler) when the rpm is around 1500. It runs smooth above and below that rpm. The mechanic diagnosed and replaced the front axle but it only made the situation worse. It occurs more frequently now and intensity of vibration is increased. Do you have any suggestions?

@@RBTheMechanic since doing this, the car hasn’t stalled once and the gas pedal is much smoother. I cleaned the throttle body on my wife’s Toyota Matrix then cleared the check engine light (was for O2 sensor). We’ve drove it 600 kilometres (highway and city combined driving) and the light is still off. 2 cars fixed with one simple process. 🙂
@RB the mechanic. I notice a misfire at 1300 rpm with engine cold or hot. It idles good and smooth and drives good. Sometimes intermittently I’ll come to a stop light and the rpm’s will drop from 900 to 600 and returns to 900 as if it was almost going to stall. Any advice?

Hi there! My Toyota Camry 2014 has 75,475 miles on it and it barley started doing this. I noticed it doing it after I’ve been driving for a little and then stop at a red light or stop sign. It does it for a quick maybe 2 to 5 seconds where I see the needle want to go down and the car shakes and wants to turn off so I let go of the brake…..then it doesn’t do it anymore. Also, there’s no check engine light or anything. Can this be the problem?
Yup it would get nice and hot then it would start to do cuz computer knows to lower the idle speed once’s it’s hot but then it can’t maintane the idle rpm speed so go for it do this service it will only be for the hood of vehicle

I put it plugged the MAS back and turned the car on it turned on but the engine light turned on. How to reset the engine light off. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Would this work for random reving up of rpm when driving? I noticed sometimes just driving a constant speed or sometimes when accelerating, it will rev up rpm then go down to what it normally increase to

U might want to Re clean the throttle and do idle relearn
Change your fuel filter.
I did it works perfect ,just getting the check engine light now ,what can I do?
Did u scan for codes u shouldn’t have had that light if u did it correct but u can scan and reset

nNo way to clean it correctly without removing the T/B very easy process.
Yes there is, turn the key off. Use your fingers to move the plate (slowly) up, on each side, so you can get both sides clean 👍
How do you reset check engine light?

I've been a boiler operator/mechanic, a rocket surgeon, and now I'm on my last gig before I retire doing logistics for a chip maker. I know how to follow instructions.
But far too many of these videos leave out or gloss over a critical step.
I don't know why- if you doing a How-to, it completeness that matters - not the background music or cool intro.
I'm just watching this for like the third or fourth time, right before I pull that assembly so I don't end up with a mystery connector, or spend an extra half hous because I disconnected the wrong side of something, and irmt just struck me how well you covered the one indispensable sequence clearly and succinctly

Wow this was a super simple procedure and worked great on my 2011 Carolla with 186k miles! The engine seems to run much smoother and idles at a higher RPM (around 1000). Thank you 👍🏻

can you just place a brick or something heavy on the accelerator while doing the entire cleaning process (instead of having a second person)?
Yeah I use stick against the seat that works for me as long as it holds and is solid

Welll no need to u will damage the throttle body also once u loose all power ur idle memory will be lost
M Camry 2001 had this issue too. Cost was $115 for a cleaning. Thanks for the video. It helps me understand what the mechanic did.
Yeah that one is diffrent it has idle sensors but clean the throttle helps also

Thanks. I had the low rpm issue(down to 500 rmp) especially when turning on the ac. after the cleaning it the low idle is gone and engine is smooth 800- 900 rpm.

Use a toothbrush instead of a rag. Makes it a lot easier and cleans those hard to get to spots

Hello! Please help, i performed the throttle body clean as you instructedon my Camry 2008, but now the car jerks when idle, especially when the car is in Drive and i have the brake pedal pressed. I've trid idle relearn procedure but no luck, any suggestions? I notice the RPM gauge is jittery and spikes up slightly. Car drives fine, but that jerking & shaking when idle is not normal, please help.

Try pcv and try changing type of oil maybe castrol

My 2015 camry le idles at 800 rmps when it's on park but when I put on drive or reverse it drops to 500 or 600 rpms and it shakes and the has turned off when I'm at a stop sign or red light.

My car idles poorly on drive and reverse gear with my foot on brakes, I feel vibration on my steery and dashboard while idling. It idles at 600rpm to 550rpm is this normal, with so much vibration n gets worse when I turn the ac on still on drive or reverse gear but reduces a bit when I put my car on park gear n vibration disappears when my car is moving n comes back when I come to a stoplight. I think, ama give this a try and see if it solves d issue.

Friends 2013 Rav 4 experienced similar issue. I cleaned maf sensor, changed battery.
Keeps shutting off.
Friend brings to Toyota mechanic and says its the throttle body so he cleans it.
Week later, car keeps shutting off again at red light or stop sign. It’s not the throttle body!
Brings Rav 4 back to me and I was going to pull spark plugs.
Instead I check oil level.
I checked the dipstick;
there was no oil at all on the dipstick. I’m scratching my head.
I ask:
where do you get your oil changed at?
Friend says Toyota dealership.
I ended up having to fill with 3 quarts oil and immediately car idled better and rattle at startup went away.
Took for test drive, car drove great and didn’t shut off.
Simple but important fix:
Folks, Check your oil level regularly especially after an oil change to make sure they put in the right amount.
Go to a trustworthy place that will take care of your car properly if you can’t or don’t work on your own vehicle.
I’m thinking either incompetent mechanic or intentional sabotage!

I checked underneath . No oil leaks anywhere. I find it impossible that it burned through 3 quarts.
Only 100,000 miles on it and they are meticulous with the cars oil changes and maintenance.
I agree RB: I gave them that advice: check the oil level weekly, monthly.
Going forward, I will be doing their oil changes from now on and monitoring this “mysterious” oil shortage.

Nice explanation. I have a problem with 2017 camry. It used to vibrate (as if driving on rumbler) when the rpm is around 1500. It runs smooth above and below that rpm. The mechanic diagnosed and replaced the front axle but it only made the situation worse. It occurs more frequently now and intensity of vibration is increased. Do you have any suggestions?
Not sure what I can recomend u without test dirivinf how ever I would replace that axle with better axle before anything

That could be transmission issues but before ruling that check and scan the car for codes also clean out this throttle

I cleaned the throttle body on my wife’s Toyota Matrix then cleared the check engine light (was for O2 sensor). We’ve drove it 600 kilometres (highway and city combined driving) and the light is still off. 2 cars fixed with one simple process. 🙂

@RB the mechanic. I notice a misfire at 1300 rpm with engine cold or hot. It idles good and smooth and drives good. Sometimes intermittently I’ll come to a stop light and the rpm’s will drop from 900 to 600 and returns to 900 as if it was almost going to stall. Any advice?

I did it, it isn't stalling anymore, but now my idle is high like 2k and I am getting code for "Air temperature sensor" PO113 and "Volume air flow sensor" PO102

Hi there! My Toyota Camry 2014 has 75,475 miles on it and it barley started doing this. I noticed it doing it after I’ve been driving for a little and then stop at a red light or stop sign. It does it for a quick maybe 2 to 5 seconds where I see the needle want to go down and the car shakes and wants to turn off so I let go of the brake…..then it doesn’t do it anymore. Also, there’s no check engine light or anything. Can this be the problem?
Yup it would get nice and hot then it would start to do cuz computer knows to lower the idle speed once’s it’s hot but then it can’t maintane the idle rpm speed so go for it do this service it will only be for the hood of vehicle

No that’s more of weak transmission or slippage when it dose that it dosent have load from transmission it shifts to gear or delayed grab one the gear

Could be dirty throttle this is very common issue on electrical throttle it’s sensitive it’s perfect time to clean every 20-30k miles
